Health OK,

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle. It's only about 15°C outside but quite stuffy within especially upstairs so windows have been opened to let the fresh air in.

Yesterday was just a pottering day as I felt a bit tired...the body dealing with the RSV jab I assume. Still, I got my early walk in and deadheaded in the garden. One of my early purchases for the garden was a pair of patio roses for the front of a border. One is greatly exceeding its remit, it's more like a shrub rose and needs constant hacking back where it is. Pretty as the flowers are, I've decided that it's got to go at the end of the season, the same with another rose elsewhere.

Today I should have been going into town to collect a parcel from M&S but so far they haven't let me know it's arrived so I suspect that will be a trip for tomorrow. Instead, I will try to clear some jobs of my to do list and make a martyr of myself!
And later, will probably find a new book to read. I've had a minor decluttering of my bookshelves so when I do get into town, I'll offload them at the charity shop.

Pleased for you R&L, I hope all proceeds successfully.

And have a good day everyone.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Very wet yesterday. The roofers came and I assumed that they wouldn't start. I was wrong. They worked all day, getting soaked.
One, a steeplejack, told me about his life "at the top". They'll be back today to finish and clean the gutters.

After releasing 2 jackdaws from my sitting room last weekend I had a fright last night when a squirrel popped down the chimney and out of the fireplace!
It then leapt straight out of the open window - which is on the first floor.

I viewed a house yesterday which was very attractive. It's too big for one person so I probably won't pursue it, but it's rather nice.

Well well Rosesandlilac that is fast! I hope all goes smoothly. 🤞

Thinking of all our poorly friends here.
Hope everyone has the best day possible.

Good morning everyone from another bright and sunny 🌞Northampton day, supposed to be a bit cooler.

Feeling pleased as I got all my planned tasks done yesterday plus some extra; downstairs is done so will concentrate on upstairs next week.

Up early, showered, hair washed and dried, dressed and enjoying mug of tea and a biscuit - I am off to Rushden Lakes on the bus and need to leave by 9am as I have a parcel to drop off at the post office first.

Ordered two dresses from Roman, same style, different sizes, and I need to return one; I could get into the smaller one but it was a bit snug, so the larger one it is - just in case I put on a couple of pounds on holiday!

I'll be picking up my copy of The Odyssey at Waterstones, and then having a nice browse around the shops, with a couple of vouchers from M&S, then enjoying a nice lunch and 🍷 somewhere....

Wishing all a lovely day.

Good morning, 11°C here in Glasgow.

I hope you have a positive appointment at the surgery, Mick

My love and best wishes, R&L.

Yesterday, the surgery phoned to say that that, they had received a letter from the hospital, advising of my new, additional medication. I can pick up the prescription tomorrow.🤞
It was only Monday, when I saw the consultant. Well done NHS.

Unfortunately, the steroid injection, I received at the hospital, doesn't seem to have kicked in.
I went down to Mass yesterday, to a funeral and right in the middle of the ceremony, a dreadful pain shot up my leg,
down I went, as my leg gave way. Talk about being a noticebox!
I was so embarrassed. All you could hear in the silence, was my gasp of pain.

My priority today, is to phone the dentist: my front tooth, crown fell out again last night.😭
The dentist warned me last time it fell out, it would be tricky and expensive, to replace. Any dental work is problematic, given my circumstances.
My life is a car crash at the moment,

We received good news yesterday. Our friend is being released from hospital in Majorca today and flying home, with assistance, later this afternoon. We are all so relieved, he was in for ten days and in danger of sepsis.

The new laundry appliances are being delivered today, I never thought I would get so excited about white goods, 😉

On a positive note, I have spent weeks looking for an Ichi, padded cotton jacket, I have too many clothes, which I bought last year on holiday, It was driving me mad.
Yyesterday, I spotted it hanging on the door of the spare room. The reason, I couldn't find it was that it was teal, not denim blue, as I thought. I am an eejit! My brain just won't work properly.

I send best wishes, to those who are unwell, and especially to those who are caring for loved ones.

Have a pleasant day, folks

Good morning from an already warm N.Bucks . Off to feed DDs cats in a short while.
Hope all goes well R&L
Pleased things are good for you Mick.
WI sewing group this afternoon and choir this evening. Otherwise some jobs to do and carry on with my patchwork.
A good day wished for all.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, sunny again but slightly cooler this morning. I hope it won’t be quite as hot as yesterday, as grannygravy said it hit 35 degrees a few miles from here.
I delivered Dgd3’s birthday presents to her yesterday, her birthday is at the weekend, but she’ll be in Suffolk with her family and cousins then.
DD2 and family drove to Suffolk yesterday, and are concerned about the large fire on Dunwich Heath.

rosesandlilac I hope your pre op appointment goes well today and that the actual operation is successful. A lot of preparation to do in the next few days.

gingster sad that you can’t get to your seaside home for one last visit. A lot of walking for you today, it must be exhausting in the heat.

llfl I sympathise regarding your cold and cough, I’m still coughing but hoping it will clear soon as my back hurts when I cough. Summer colds seem much worse than winter ones! I hope you feel better soon and are able to resume your normal activities.

Hoping everyone has the best day possible.

Liberty Thu 30-Jul-26 07:46:03

Good morning from what feels like a somewhat cooler Suffolk after the hottest day ever( or at least in the 42 years we have lived here).

I have my stretch class shortly which will be done at a gentle pace I’m sure and then home for a restful day indoors until it cools down in the late afternoon.

Just seen on the news that there is a ‘major incident’ on the Suffolk coast after a large wildfire broke out at Dunwich Heath yesterday late afternoon. Flames were said to be spreading towards the nearby St James’ church.

The tearooms on the beach are wooden and were burnt down years ago. It is an area we know and love and hoping that the fire is now under control.

Thinking of you R&L as you prepare for your hospital stay next week and hope that all have a good day especially those under the weather or with worries about others.

Gelisa Thu 30-Jul-26 07:51:50

Good morning all from a damp Morecambe Bay. We have had rain but not much declared DH before he went down to make the tea.
An early morning walk on the nearby marsh this morning as I have another appointment with the audiologist at 10 o’clock. I phoned yesterday as my new hearing aids are painfully loud. They have been adjusted once already. Hopefully they will get it right this time. I don’t like the hearing aids but I can’t fault the service I’m receiving.
Good news R&L hope all goes well for you, and that llf’s lurgy clears up quickly.
Take care everyone 🌸

Gagagran Thu 30-Jul-26 07:51:51

Good Morning everyone from the sunny central south coast. It may feel a bit cooler today, hopefully. Yesterday was back to scorchio. Still no rain in sight.

Good news for you RosesandLilac so that you can now put your plans into action. Wishing you the very best outcome and a swift recovery. Enjoy your bike ride Karma and I love the latest tshirt - such a pretty print.

Glad your FAB cafe is still so popular, GM. There is obviously a need for it. Home baking is always a big attraction at our WI events.

Today I need to finish my Tesco delivery order for tomorrow and help DH sort his hearing aid problem out. It seems to have stopped working. Suspect a battery problem.

Best regards to all with struggles or worries of any sort and hope the day brings some comfort and ease.

brook2704 Thu 30-Jul-26 07:56:35

Good morning everyone from Inverness, it’s dry and bright this morning with a few clouds
Things are happening quickly roses, hope all goes well
We’ve got a few busy days ahead as DGS is coming to stay until Sunday, bringing their new puppy with him. DD is taking DGD to Belladrum, a local music festival for the first time. They’re super excited, DGS not so much !
Sorry your feet are painful grandmabatty
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 30-Jul-26 08:04:31

R&L what good news, at last! 🌷

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 30-Jul-26 08:12:53

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it has rained during the night. Alexa says 21°C sunny with no rain today (I asked). Hmm. We have a great deal of white cloud at present and I can’t see the Pennines on the horizon so we will see.

L’il Miss will be here at 10am till noon as her mum has an appointment then this afternoon I’m meeting a retired friend who was an ex colleague, for drinks. We used to share an office in the hospital. She was superb to work with and made me laugh many a time. This will be the first get together since Himself died and I’m very much looking forward to her company.

NannyJan53 Thu 30-Jul-26 08:28:09

Good morning from a cooler Black Country, where there is a very light shower at the moment! Hardly making an impression at all.

I have a Mammogram appointment this morning. As I am over 70 I had to ring and request it. Not looking forward to it, but needs must. So will miss my Thursday walk.

MrJ is off to Coventry to be with his DD as her Mum has to be out for the day with work, she usually works from home. Hopefully it won't be too long now before his DD will be able to weight bear on her leg and be back to normal!

DS and family are in St.Ives, he sent a photo of them all with 'Tyrone' from Corrie on the beach! Apparently he visits there regularly.

Hoping all goes well for you R&L thank goodness action is being taken.

Wishing you all the best day possible

Grannydaisy1 Thu 30-Jul-26 08:28:16

r&l good luck today and next week. Thinking of you.
karmalady love your top. It's beautiful. One talented lady

Melanie61 Thu 30-Jul-26 08:37:19

Roses, hope all goes well flowers

Usedtobeblonde Thu 30-Jul-26 08:42:42

Good morning from Stockport, the ground is damp but no rain currently and warm.
So pleased for you R&L, things happening at last.
In the “good old days” of the NHS I had my biopsy for BC on Dec 1st, results at clinic 8th Dec, operation Dec 16th .
Those days will never return.
My cleaners are coming today for an initial deep clean, I am so looking forward to it, sorry to say the house needs it.
I hope those of you praying for rain get some soon but in the meantime stay cool and hydrated.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 30-Jul-26 08:51:12

Good to hear things are finally in motion for you R&L. You have been amazing whilst waiting (and worrying I bet).

Jaxjacky Thu 30-Jul-26 09:05:19

Morning from an overcast S Hants, cooler today after scorching yesterday.
I’m so pleased R&L it’s taken long enough, my best wishe over the coming days.
I must start ringing round today for quotes as we have at least one loose roof tile, cue weeks of rain! (I wish).
Finalise Tesco list, water tomatoes and at least think about dinner are my next jobs.
Have a decent day.

Good morning from Belfast
We have blue skies today and a breeze. Yesterday a bit of a disaster got up opened the windows, went to put the washing out and guess what someone had decided to put manure out in the fields beside us. Windows shut quickly no washing out.
Usually they pipe it onto fields but not this time.
Made sausage rolls and the usual housework.
Going out today with DD she will have to get her lunch so we will go somewhere nice.
Have a best day you can .

loopyloo Thu 30-Jul-26 09:20:34

Hi everyone.,wishing you a good appt this morning.
Yesterday had physio in the morning had not done enough exercises.
Then went for a brain MRI.
Temp was 34° but lovely fan in the bus and the scan itself was the coolest I'd been for ages.
I think lots of people might leave London for the summer or move permanently as this is going to continue.
We had a mouse upstairs on Monday but not seen him since.
We have a trap set.
Have a good day

Georgesgran Thu 30-Jul-26 09:31:08

Good morning from Durham. It’s a bright, sunny start - yesterday was almost autumnal, with dead leaves being blown from the trees.
Unfortunately, my poorly friend wants to give today’s meet up a miss. I’m so sorry that she’s so unwell at the moment. She prefers to lock herself away, but has a partner (don’t live together) who is popping in to see her a couple of times a day. She thinks her usual RA blood tests tomorrow will reveal she’s anaemic.
I have cystitis - trivial by comparison, but the usual antibiotics will clear it. I won’t venture far from home though today.
You’ve been very patient Roses I’m pleased wheels are in motion now. I can’t think of what to sympathize with first MD so I can understand your excitement over the white goods - may they be delivered and installed properly!

Best wishes to all. X

Marydoll Thu 30-Jul-26 09:40:30

Georgesgran, I hope you feel better soon.

Your poor friend, I can fully understand how she feels.

DIL sent me a message, telling me that I was reasonably healthy, no reason to feel sorry for myself.
That just finished me off! It's my own fault, I am so good at covering up.
When did I become such a wimp?

I have been in tears, on the phone to the dentist. My gum is tender and I can't afford to have an infection in it, given my immunity levels.

dragonfly46 Thu 30-Jul-26 10:06:19

A late good morning from Leicestershire I was having a lie in to let my back ease before attempting to get up.

Nothing much on the cards today so will attempt to do some washing. It is very frustrating as my back pain prevents me hanging it out!

I am shocked y your DinL’s message Marydoll. I think they should be told how poorly you and your DH are. It sounds as if she is still feeling sorry for herself.

Good news that things are starting to happen Rosesandlilac good luck today and I hope it goes well on Tuesday. It seems strange that you haven’t actually met your surgeon.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

latedecember1963 Thu 30-Jul-26 10:37:01

Good morning everyone from a dull but clammy Lancashire.

So pleased about your news, Mick. I'm sure it's a weight off your mind.

This time next week you'll have had your op, RosesandLilac. Try to take it steady between now and then because you'll need to be well rested to recover.

Hope you manage to get help from the dentist, Marydoll. A sore mouth is miserable. You are certainly not a wimp!! You are incredibly stoical in the face of all your daily challenges.

Hope your cystitis clears up soon, Georgesgran. My mum and MiL suffered from it occasionally and it used to wipe them out.

Water and a few containers are amazing toys, aren't they Whiteswan63? Even a washing up bowl will surfice. Lovely messy play and they're learning at the same time without realising it. A fun way for us to keep cool too.

Our plans are to meet up at a local cafe with a couple of church friends this morning. It's part of a wool shop so I might just have a look at the wools, not that I need any more!

Wishing you all the best day possible. 🌻

Good Morning from a dull Co Armagh, sun wa blazing a few minutes ago !
Glad things are moving along for you R+L
I can’t understand why your DIL should be so mean MD
I literally candles for you both .
The entire chapel was startled as I dropped my purse at the candles , I scurried away , and waited to retrieve my loose change after Mass !
Best wishes for a pleasant day xx
