Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Such a sunny day yesterday. Can't tell today.

My request for crêpes last night turned into a lovely dinner party until ofcourse the football match was lost to Spain. We had even found the Brittany flag amongst DH collection. The crepes were delicious. My 2 French helpers could be top chefs.

Earlier I drove them to Peebles to look round the sales and to walk - in my case to hobble- along the Tweed. It was so hot we had ice-creams sitting in the secret garden I took them to see the Polish Map at Eddleston on the way home.

I had a chiropractor appointment and think my back is getting a bit better. Must do the exercises.

Today yarn group and another house viewing - locally this time.

Happy birthday. Ginny. I hope you have a lovely time.

Enjoy Mallorca Bellas

I hope some help can be organised for you Rosesandlilac
Wishing everyone a good day.

Some people just have to ‘gossip’ uttb don’t they? Upsetting and unsettling for you. I’m sure your spat with your granddaughter will just be a storm in a teacup - you love one another too much to let things fester.

I shouldn’t post early because when I read later I always want to comment and I’ve had ‘my turn’. I need to be more mindful not to monopolise this lovely thread! 🤐

Good Morning everyone from the central south coast where it's breezy still but not as gusty. Supposed to be hot again today so we shall continue to glow no doubt.

DH is out with his cycling club today and, unusually they are having breakfast and lunch out. It is a memorial ride for a member who died too young and left a bequest for his friends to do this.

I shall catch up on my correspondence, including ordering an ecard for my remaining (younger) brother. It feels important that we three siblings left should keep a bit closer contact than distance allows.
His birthday is 19 July and I have vivid memories of that day in 1950 as my beloved cat was run over by the 3.15pm bus, right outside our house. My Mum, in bed in the dining room, where she had given birth to him earlier that day, asked whether I would not rather have a new baby brother than my cat. I said an emphatic "No". (I was 6, almost 7 years old).

Your baking sounds mouth watering GM and I am sure is the big attraction for your FAB cafe sessions.

Safe journey home FGT and Marzipan and anyone else travelling today.

Kind thoughts also to any of our GNs with worries or struggle and hope there is some relief today.

Good morning from Wiltshire. It feels a little cooler the last couple of mornings but it was still fiercely hot yesterday afternoon. I was able to tackle the ironing mountain before it got too hot.

A trip to Waitrose this morning. The nearest decent sized one is in Swindon which I prefer to the Marlborough store as it is far more light and airy and easier to get round.

Yesterday DD2 had a her MRI and CTA after her suspected TIA last month. She won’t know the results for a while due to the backlog.

I hope you are able to get the help you very much need RosesandLilac. Your DH will need to do more too. It will be essential you take great care of yourself.

Have lovely holiday in Mallorca Bellasnana. It will be so nice to spend time on a beach with your DGSs.

I’m sure you will be glad to get back to your patio Marzipan.

Have a good day all.

Forgot to mention that our eldest granddaughter got her mock A Level results yesterday - A* in History, politics and Psychology. Very proud Ma and Pa here.

In other news, Dd3 and family are on holiday in Somerset and Wolfie has an ear infection in both ears.

Good morning from a cloudy Suffolk where the sun is beginning to break through. The farmers around here are already cracking on with the harvest which seems to get earlier every year. The rape is now done, the barley well under way and D who came to service our boiler yesterday said that they have started on the wheat in fields around him.

Harvest festival services used to be towards the end of Septemberyears ago but, around here, they have crept forward to nearer the beginning of that month. Wonder if they will soon be in August?

I have a full day Teams meeting today so will be indoors til mid afternoon. Luckily the dining room, where I usually sit,is north facing and cool.

Hope all have the best day possible especially those with worries or ill health.

Safe travels FGT and I hope you get home marzipan.
Usual hot weather day yesterday aka not a lot happened. MrJ played bowls in the evening.
Today I must ring my 93 year old uncle for a catch up, last of that generation in my family.
Have a pleasant day all.

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey, cool Carlisle where it is about 13°C degrees. I'm hoping for rain but not holding my breath.
Yesterday I tackled my small pile of ironing and cleaned bathrooms. In spite of the chilly stiff breeze it was still too hot to work in the garden so I read...plenty of magazines and my current book to occupy me. Oh, and I checked through one of my food cupboards and unfortunately found a small pack of the best biscuits in the world..which, I confess, no longer exist bar one!

Today I am definitely off to the garden centre as my cabin fever is getting worse! I shouldn't really as I am due free cake as it is my birthday month but who can turn down free cake?
Maybe a walk after lunch to work it off if it hasn't heated up.

Wishing you all the best possible day.

Good morning from Stockport, once again wall to wall blue sky and sunshine.
Yesterday was a day of two halves.
My GD and her BF heard everything is go for their move, they exchanged contracts and complete on Monday, should have been Friday but the seller is on holiday until Saturday.
They are so excited but my GD who was, and still is unwell, got overtired with plans and getting time off work and snapped at me which I did not take well and we had words, we were both upset and haven’t resolved it yet.
Then I found out that the “friend” I was out with on Monday when I had the unfortunate accident, told two other people about it.
I was incandescent, I just don’t want any more contact with her.

I am having my hair cut at lunchtime, a Sainsbury’s order and then may visit a neighbour, I will wait to hear from her as to her health.

Have the best day you can everyone.
My next year round the sun has not got off to a good start at all.

monk08 Wed 15-Jul-26 07:39:52

Happy birthday ginny 🎂🎉 have a nice day.

kittylester Wed 15-Jul-26 07:32:48

Good morning all from a very misty but warm Aldeburgh.

We have had a lovely relaxing and restful time despite the fact that the hotel has really let things slip. The staff, as always, have been fabulous - helpful and friendly.

Yesterday we went on a short river trip - the highlight of which was seeing seals.

It will be lovely to get home and we will start a search for a new bolthole hotel.

R&L, I echo Ashcombe's advice to contact AgeUk for advice or you could contact Adult Social Care at the local council.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Grandmabatty Wed 15-Jul-26 07:30:49

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° with low cloud which should burn off later. ginny your poor neighbour. GrandMattie I'm another who likes lemon meringue pie and hasn't made it in years. Rosesandlilac you could contact MacMillan nurses for advice.
Yesterday I got more weeding done. The front garden is beginning to look presentable. I also made a chilli in the slow cooker and later made gooseberry fool with the fruit my neighbour gave me. Both dishes will do me at least 2 days. I cleaned all the windows and mirrors as well. Then I read in the afternoon.
Today I'm meeting friends for lunch and im looking forward to that. Have a good day all

Gingster Wed 15-Jul-26 07:29:38

Hoping for a troublefree journey home for you Fgt. 🙏.
You’ve had a lovely time but will be pleased to be back with your family and friends.,💐

Sar53 Wed 15-Jul-26 07:26:32

Good morning from our mooring in Bradwell marina. We've had a lovely few days in Burnham, today we are motoring up the river to Malden.
The weather has been lovely although a little windy at times.
Hopefully we will be able to find a pub to watch England play this evening.
Safe travels to anyone on the move today, best wishes to all xx

Gingster Wed 15-Jul-26 07:24:47

Good morning all and it’s a bit chilly! 😳. My feet are cold and I’ve closed the windows while sitting with my cuppa. It will be hot again this afternoon.,

Yesterday was nice , meeting my old pal for coffee . Three hours of chat went by so quickly. We know each other inside out and there’s ’no holds barred’.

I’ve gone ahead and ordered the new roof for the conservatory, but it won’t be done until September/October as they are so busy. More expensive than we expected, but isn’t everything!
My Dh was proud of me for getting the price down a tiny bit. I’m not a natural haggler and I used to squirm when he did all the ‘chat’. I’m getting brave now I’m ’in charge’ of everything

Today I’ll shop in M and s for our visitors on Saturday. I’ll fill my trusty trolley to the brim and get fresh tomorrow as I’m out for the day on Friday.,
I’ll meet my old neighbour/friend for coffee and she’ll run me home.

Dh is going out for brunch with his old school friend (our hero).

We have DS1’s friend popping in to do a few jobs for us. He’s a general handy man. A painting needs hanging and the garden gate/door needs adjusting.

Good for you Marzipan. What a sensible thing to do, staying in an air conditioned hotel , while the crowds milled around. 🥵
👍. Enjoy the City and have a troublefree journey home to your nest.

Lemon Meringue Pie! Reminds me of my mum too. What a performance it was. Good tips/tricks from you GM. I’ll give your version a go.,Yum!

Take care all and I hope all the poorlies feel better today.,💐

Gelisa Wed 15-Jul-26 07:23:56

Good morning from Shetland where DH who is up and about said it’s not dull it’s not sunny just usual weather! Make of that what you will. It’s still calmer than usual and much warmer. Yesterday the reason for the chaos on the ferries was one of them was out of service. Bring on the planned inter island tunnels. In the end we had a lovely day wandering round Yell then Unst. Amongst other places we visited the site of the new space port where the first rocket to launch a satellite is planned for next month. History in the making!
Today a good Shetland friend of many years will look after CDog while we visit the isle of Mousa where there is a virtually complete broch. CDog will be glad of a rest and a bit of pampering.
Take care everyone 🌸

GrannyGravy13 Wed 15-Jul-26 07:23:12

Good morning Mick and all

Last day of my emergency meds I must admit I am slightly nervous of coming straight off (I usually have a long weaning off period) but will have to see what tomorrow brings.

Another day of not much, I want to change the bed, DH will help if necessary. I need to change the beds in the GC room, but they can wait till the weekend.

Safe journey back to Blighty FGT2 have a wonderful holiday with your little family Bellasnana

(((Hugs))) to all 🙋‍♀️

ginny Wed 15-Jul-26 07:18:33

Good morning from N. Bucks. It is St. Swithins day so maybe some rain.
It is also my birthday. No particular plans today, celebrations with the family on Friday.
My neighbour fractured her hip in her fall on Monday, operation today.
Thoughts with those who have troubles and problems and a good day wished for all.

HelterSkelter1 Wed 15-Jul-26 07:17:09

Good morning from a cool with breeze N Surrey.
A bit of washing today.

De cataracted eye is rather watery and a bit sore yesterday and today so am continuing to take things gently. I watched a very informative video re cataract recovery yesterday. A lot of helpful and comforting information. It was made by an american eye consultant and frequently mentioned what was and what wasnt covered by insurance. It made me very very grateful for my excellent treatment by the NHS.

FGT it only seems 5 minutes ago you were flying out. What a quick 10 days.

Hope everyone has as good a day as poss.

Redcar Wed 15-Jul-26 07:11:05

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. No cloud this morning, so blue skies and a pleasant breeze at the moment.
I got the things I needed from the garden centre, no plants as I’d not be able to plant them nor keep them alive.
Seated yoga this morning, and that will be my exercise for the day!

rosesandlilac a useful conversation with the nurse yesterday, but a shame it was also a bit frightening for you. Could social services provide any help for you post operation?

bellasnana I hope you have a trouble free journey and enjoy your little holiday with your treasures!

fgt safe journey home. I’m pleased you’ve had an enjoyable holiday, not long until the next one with your family!

marzipan glad you’ve were able to find refuge in a nice air conditioned hotel yesterday! An unexpected treat! I hope the rest of your journey home won’t be as eventful.

Have as good a day as is possible everyone.

Puss Wed 15-Jul-26 07:05:25

Good morning everyone from Belfast where the sun is still shining. Went to Home Bargains and Tesco yesterday and was glad to get home.
Window boxes are looking very sad I think I'll have to take them down. Although I have some begonia on the walls and they are doing very well.
Thinking of you all my problems are miniscule compared to you .
Can't get lemon meringue pie out of my head!!!!
Have as good a day everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 15-Jul-26 06:47:37

Good morning everybody from Málaga where I’m awake half an hour before the alarm I’ve set on my phone! It often happens. Subconsciously I must be on countdown.

I’m off to the airport at 10:30am (here) for my Jet2 flight home. I’ve enjoyed my holiday. It’s been a bit lonely at times but I’ve coped and am finding I can think about/talk about Himself without as many tears, if I don’t think too deeply. If I go over anything much from last May and what he had to go through, that’s what undoes me. And to say I miss him is an understatement.

So last night Spain won their game against France! I didn’t watch it but the locals went crazy with exuberance for an hour afterwards what a racket! They now play either us or Argentina in the final. If it’s Argentina the two bars below will be a hot bed of emotions as one supports Spain (natch) and the owner of the other bar is Argentinian!

monk08 Wed 15-Jul-26 06:46:49

Good morning all from a lovely cool Black country, the temperature appears to have really dropped.
Need to get some cards and a couple of presents today have a few birthdays coming up. I think a trip to the carvery is also planned DH has a voucher for a free meal.
RosesandLilac glad things are finally moving for you sending you a hug.
Safe travels those on the move.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans and stay cool 😎.

luluaugust Wed 15-Jul-26 06:39:38

Good morning from an overcast W Kent. We are off to Hever Castle today with a local group. We worked out we last went in 1998 so a catch up is needed! Later the gardener should come and tidy things up.
Good luck with all the travel plans
RosesandLilac glad you are still making progress

Ashcombe Wed 15-Jul-26 06:21:15

Good morning from La Sarthe where we’ve experimented with open windows and closed shutters overnight because it wasn’t as hot during the evening. We have slept better as a result.

RosesandLilac: I hope the call was reassuring but I can understand your apprehension. May I suggest going through an agency for organising help at home? Or AgeUk might be able to make recommendations.

Safe travels, Bellasnana and family and I hope you finally reach home today, Marzipan22! The hotel was a well deserved treat!

Yesterday I finally tackled the ironing which had accumulated here when DH had some weeks alone. He can cope with domesticity during solo periods apart from ironing.

Thinking of absentees.

Happy hump day! 🦩💐😎🥰🦩
