Good morning from a sunny but cooler Suffolk. We were in London yesterday and our neighbours, who looked after our little dog all day, said it had been cloudy and much cooler,to everyone’s delight.

We had such a wonderful day,in spite of the huge disruption to Greater Anglia’s train service because of a huge fire on Friday in a warehouse in Stratford which damaged some of the rail track. We were amazed at their efficiency about retimetabling but it meant several trains were cancelled or retimed.

We hadn’t checked their website before leaving home so knew nothing about it until we were on the first train but,for us luckily it worked out fine.

The opera La Boheme was wonderful as we knew it would be and our seats were excellent. I had done the ROH’s tour ‘Behind the scenes’ last year with my school friends and the lovely Irish guide told us that Bryan Terfel said the best seat for hearing the sound was a middle seat in the middle row of the amphitheatre. We were in the middle seats about 3 rows further forward …….excellent for seeing and hearing.

A quiet day here today after such a lovely day yesterday. I hope you have a lovely birthday utbb and everyone else finds some cool spots and has a restful day. Off to water the pots where, as yet,we don’t have a hosepipe ban although I hear rumours of one being seriously considered.

Good morning from the east coast. It’s really quite chilly this morning.

Yesterday DH and I just chilled round the house. I walked an hour as it was much cooler. DH did the garden. He trimmed and shaped the bushes. In the afternoon he fell asleep laid on me and I had a little nap as we wanted to stay up for the football. I had to go to bed though before extra time then heard him thundering up the stairs to tell me England scored. But I’d heard the neighbours cheering so knew.

Today we are travelling a hour and a half down the coast to Scarborough hospital as my uncle was taken in on Thursday. Mum and I went on Friday. He’s been treated for a chest infection, urine infection and dehydration. He’s extremely frail. The Dr said if his heart stops they don’t feel it’s in his best interests to start it again going by how frail he is. We still don’t know why he has gone like this in just 12 weeks from being in quite robust health.

Thoughts again to RosesandLilac💐
Happy Birthday UTBB 🎁

Have a good day 🌼

Morning from a delightfully breezy S Hants, sunny too, it will heat up later.
Happy Birthday utbb 🎂🥂.
Yesterday we both did little, necessities only, watched the tennis, MrJ stayed up for all the football, I watched half.
Today either or neither of the children may call in, they’re both local and have keys.
Duck for dinner,

Good Morning from a cool, windy Durham. The wind is chilly, keeping the temperatures down around 70. We had light rain last night, but not enough to make any difference to the garden.
Again, no plans other than steaming my hard floors, but I enjoy a quiet weekend before mounting the hamster wheel again tomorrow.
🥂 to those celebrating.
Confusing 🍀 Roses.

Best wishes to all. X

Morning all from a rather warm West Oxfordshire,

Happy birthday Used to be Blonde!

I had an interesting day yesterday. Up at the crack of dawn and drove to a Craft Centre where I spent the day making a ceramic cat! I was half an hour late as there was an accident on the M4.

My daughter was waiting when I got home. We had a barbecue which was fun. I had already made the salads and we had salmon, burgers, sausages and chicken kebabs.

It is the Village Festival this weekend. I’m on the WI stall but we’ll look and see what else there is.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from a cloudy Shetland. We’ve woke up late and need to be up and off so I’ll wish UtbB Happy Birthday and get going! Take care 🌸

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow where it is 15°C.

GrannyGravy, poor you. I can empathise with you trying to keep your oxygen levels up. 😪
I thought I was going to pass out at Mass last night, it was so airless, I was struggling badly. Despite, hiding in a corner, near the fire door, staying away from people and trying to get some air, it was futile
Your steroids seem to be taking some time to kick in. I could be doing with a course myself, but it's a no, no. This chest infection, just won't shift. I suspect, I need more antibiotics.

Yesterday, the roofer continued to de-moss the roof. What an awful mess, but thankfully, he did clear up. I felt so sorry for him, having to work in the heat, our roof was the worst in the cul de sac, due to our trees.
I had to park my car out of the way at the top of a steep hill, that nearly finished me off.

Today, I am fit to do very little. A fuse blew at church last night, but I knew I had some fuses over in the actual church. Although we have no access to the church, I had access through the presbytery.

Unknown to me, an elderly visiting priest was staying overnight, the poor man got the fright of his life, when he encountered this strange woman wandering about in the house.🤣
After all that, there were no fuses to be found. We have a phantom Blu Tak, battery and fuse thief!!!
A trip to an old fashioned hardware store is in order, I may treat myself to a new metal shovel.
My problem is that the roundabout is still closed and a ten minute detour is required. It has become a rat ru n

Nothing much else will get done today, I need to rest. The only thing to do, is put back my tomato plants. DD looked at them yesterday and took off all the excess leaves. ♥️ Normally, I would have had a lecture, but she saw how unwell I was and kept stumm; a rare occurrence and a lucky escape. 😉

Bella, I get texts and/or phone calls, reminding me of hospital appointments, which have already been advised by letter. I think that there are so many missed appointments, this is a strategy to address it.

I wish you all, a Buona Domenica!, which are always the P.P 'and curate's parting words on a Sunday.

Happy birthday, , UTB,🎉

Usedtobeblonde Sun 12-Jul-26 08:19:31

Good morning from another lovely day in Stockport.
Thank you all for the good wishes.
However did I get to 89, I blinked and it happened.
I am being taken to Llandudno for the day, it is going to be hot and crowded but it is one of my very favourite places, so many happy memories and I may not get there again.

I watched the football until full time but couldn’t stay awake for longer but checked the result when I woke in the early hours.
So pleased for the fans that they made it to the semis but I didn’t think it was a riveting performance.

I must get myself moving , cup of tea and small breakfast.

I hope you can all find some joy today, I am being thankful for making it to another year.

Goodness 33 posts already on here! I shall sit and read them all once I’ve posted my nonsense.

Good morning everybody from Málaga where the high temperatures continue but thankfully the humidors low so it’s actually all quite bearable - even sleep m without air con just my ceiling fan.

I took this photo down on the marina at 5pm last night. Fancy cars, boats and palm trees. I enjoyed people watching with a glass of Pinot blush before I walked along to The Smonehiuse to eat a delicious fat steak and sides.

I have no plans today think I’ll just stay put. Coffee I. Juan’s later then the gardens I’ve finished my novel. Time now before Wednesday and book club to refresh my memory on the book I’d suggested we all read. I loved it I’m hoping they all did too! It’s called ‘Four Seasons in Japan’ and is mostly about a grandmother and her student grandson.

brook2704 Sun 12-Jul-26 08:44:38

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey clouds and it’s dry
A very Happy Birthday Uttb 🎂🥂❤️
I’m a bit late this morning after a really good time at the line dancing social, lots of dancing, good company and laughs. Im exhausted though as I was up dancing most of the time then home to see the end of the football. Nothing planned for today thank goodness!
I’ve not had chance to read all the posts yet but hope everyone is doing ok
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning all and that was a deliciously cool night.

Yesterday ds1 and I travelled up to the cottage by the sea, early so very little traffic. The house clearance lady came and took photos and gave us a quote. They will clear the house on the 30th, whether or not the sale has gone through. We can’t dilly dally any more. If all goes pear shaped with the sale, at least it will be ready to go for a new buyer.

We filled the car to the brim with stuff that was useful , said goodbye to neighbours , tears from everyone especially me.
Another era over.

Dh had fallen in the garden the evening before and I was loathe to leave him, so Dd and DGD came round and spent the day with him.. He wasn’t very keen 🙄. But it gave me peace of mind. She’s a good girl, doesn’t get much love from him but keeps cheerful and positive.

Arrived back mid afternoon and unloaded the car, found placed for ‘stuff’ to go, but I will have a sort out today.

I want to shampoo the carpet in the lounge today (that’s the plan anyway). It’s a through route to the conservatory and garden (open plan) . It’s a shows no dirt or stains but I expect the water to be muddy. Especially with the little dog, traipsing through too. It will be satisfying when I see the colour of the water thrown away but also a bit shameful . 🫣. .

Happy birthday UTBB have a lovely day. 💐.

Take it easy everyone.🌺

Good morning, Michael12 and all!

I've been at work since 5, doing cleaning, etc., so I'm on a 1/2 hour break with a cuppa and a pack of corned beef slices. Opened at 8:30.

My broken nose is still here, but getting better! Pain and under-eye bruising are healing. I don't look so much like I've been hammered by a steam train!

I was in bed by about 6 last night as the meno was crippling again, but even though it was stiffling hot, I had to lie under the duvet, not on top, because of the awful buzzy flies, so again it was like kipping in a sauna!

Then I got up about 7:15, and IT WAS RAINING! And felt cooler! I stood outside in my hot, clingy, sweat-soaked t-shirt and shorts and absorbed each and every drop of the gorgeous rain!

That's when Mr Creep, the downstairs neighbour I told you about recently, came out and tried to talk to me, so I skittered back upstairs quickly, but I was out there about 15 minutes, loving every drop of it!

I watched A Crack In The Floor, starring Gary Busey, and it was great! The way the diver came out of the water to tell the sheriff, there are 22 cars down there so far!

I'm off! Have a good one!

Taichinan Sun 12-Jul-26 09:17:17

Grandmabatty no, they're just common or garden goldfish, all born in that pond. Many years ago I did lose practically all the fish to Mr Heron! After that I gave in and the pond is now covered by netting and the reeds give the fish plenty of places in which to hide.

Georgesgran Sun 12-Jul-26 09:23:56

Powercut here - Powergrid aware and say until 10.30. Luckily I’ve matches to light the gas hob.

brook2704 Sun 12-Jul-26 09:32:08

Gingster yes the end of an era but so many happy memories to look back on ❤️

grandMattie Sun 12-Jul-26 09:34:21

taichinan, love your tropeoleum. I tried growing some in Sandwich but managed to kill them…. It might be because it’s so very dry in the SE.
Goldfish never lasted long in our pond due to herons. There was a large heronry not far away.

Usedtobeblonde Sun 12-Jul-26 09:41:09

I am not now going to Llandudno, my GD has come down looking dreadful.
She suffers badly from hay fever and I can’t let her have a bad day just for me.
We will go some other time.
My friend across the road wanted to visit so I will arrange that and we may go out for a meal tonight if L improves.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 12-Jul-26 09:48:20

Many happy returns of the day to you uttb have a lovely day with your family in your own ‘happy place’ filled with fond memories.

Yes the end of an era Gingster I can well understand your tears. x

Crossed posts uttb! As you say, another time. 🤞
