I joined this forum only recently. I was delighted to find it and thought it would be nice to read items from other grannies. Instead, I wonder whether most of you are aware that you come over as a load of bigoted, woke, lefties? Maybe you’re not all like that but it is disappointing that the forum is being used like this.

Thank you kindly! grin

It’s a bit like that on this N&P thread, however there are also some “righties” here too.

I’m not entirely what a “bigoted, woke, lefty” actually is? In my experience one is either a bigot or a woke lefty?

Anyhow, welcome, and before you give up on us all, why not try all the other threads here.

We do “debate” pretty fiercely on this particular thread, normally without being rude or personal.

However, speaking from my own personal experience, I think I can say, without exception, if you need a rant, a shoulder to cry on, advice or just a friendly “hello”, this site has the kindest, nicest people I’ve yet to find on any social media sites.

We may not always agree with each other, but the majority of the time we simply agree to disagree, bar the odd spat!

Not much else I can say…..

And yes, this particular thread is meant to be (partially) tongue in cheek.

Is anyone aware, of just how left wing this comedian is.

Are you telling us he’s left wing or are you genuinely asking?

I think most satirical political comedians tend to be left leaning, but very happy to “take the mick” out of all political parties.

This particular individual has been standing in various UK elections, since 201, as an Independent “comedic character” As I understand it he normally fundraisers or crowd-funds the cash enabling his to stand. He’s Oxford educated.

Well, it seems that Binface has really upset Farrago, committed an unpardonable offence, and will get the full force of Reform's party effort.

He actually went TO Clacton . . . .

Just read up on this so called Count Binface character aka Jonathan Harvey.

Supposed to be a scriptwriter by trade. Must know people in the media then. And is probably being paid to do this naff act.

I think Binface sounds like a posh silly, Public School Six Former. A sort of Monty Python Dalek crossed with the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz.

Not funny. Comes across as a complete knob.

Maybe Binface could do us all a favour. And bin himself at the nearest recycling.centre.

I love the name binface and so hope he wins! Farage is a cheating grifter, loads of respectable publications have been highlighting his dodgy finances for months & the main papers have been ignoring it.

But now since Farage had his hissy fit & resigned they are more willing to print verifiable info on him. For a start he has called this unnecessary election at a massive cost to all of us, he offered to fund it but that would look like he'd bought the election so it wasn't accepted.

Then his defence of being 'antiestablishment' also looks like he's not willing to have his finances scrutinised. It's so easy to accept a bribe that of course politicians have to explain how & why they got large gifts of money.

He shouldn't have a problem with that surely, unless he has something to hide? Why not just let people see his finances & then get back to normal if there's nothing to be seen?

... and I had never realised that politics is supposed to be akin to a ridiculous 'comedy' programme.

However, I now realise reading these conments that most voters are imbeciles and that's why we end up with what we deserve.

An Ipsos poll has put Bin ahead .....

Allgone21 Sat 11-Jul-26 18:42:34

We’ve already got enough potato heads ‘running’ the country.

Gfplux Sat 11-Jul-26 19:26:20

I want Farage to be humiliated. He has done so many bad things including Brexit

Luckygirl3 Sat 11-Jul-26 19:52:26

Here are the Ipsos results:
When asked about the Clacton contest, 1 in 3 British adults (33%) would prefer Count Binface to win, while 21% prefer Nigel Farage and 32% choose neither. 13% don’t know.

I’m not sure if this is a genuine photo ( you never can tell these days) but it supposed to be of Clacton Binface supporters flying their bin flags.

If it is genuine, the people of Clacton have been taking lessons in military precision. Those binbags have all been inflated to exactly the same size and shape, attached at exactly the same height in each window, and hang at exactly the same angle to the vertical. None of them has fallen off into a front garden, or deflated and sagged to dangle limply against the wall. Their shadows are even standing to attention at exactly the same subtle angle.

They should be forming a team to send to the Edinburgh tattoo to demonstrate their skill at the next show - too late for this year, it starts on August 7 and will run to August 29, and the programme is already fixed and rehearsed. ( www.edintattoo.co.uk/ if it takes your fancy, but it is probably completely booked out by now)

And it would appear some here on our own little site cannot recognise a thread specifically designed to be humorous and amusing and just a tad light hearted. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Cossy Sat 11-Jul-26 22:46:29

The VA photo is sadly not genuine. Meant to be amusing thanks

Cossy Sat 11-Jul-26 22:47:12

Sorry no idea where VA popped up from

Some of you reading up on Binface clearly are not reading or researching very well.

He has been standing as a comedic politic candidate since 2017. He fundraisers or crowdfunds his deposit and expenses.

He also raises money for charities.

You don’t have to like him and nobody is insisting you marry him or adopt him.

This is a light hearted thread, trying to inject a bit of humour into what is actually a serious and pointless charade created by a man old and wise enough to know better!

Can we all just remember just who started this fiasco and why!

Good luck to all the candidates standing, perhaps you’d like to be scathing about all of them too?

It seems though that you don't realise that satire and comedy have been foundational to British politics for centuries.

Have you never heard of Hogarth or Gillray? They were artists who produced brutal satire in the 18th century, mocking politicians of all stripes - and corruption in political circles.

Not only that, Music Hall artistes regularly lampooned not only politicians, but also the ruling class when they became too self-important.

Where have you been?!

We obviously follow a long-line of imbeciles...

It's fairly obvious from the OP that this is a light-hearted (mostly) thread - on CHAT.

No-one is compelled to take part if it's not to their taste - but there are no rules prohibiting the lampooning of politicians or creating satirical or comedic threads, so I think we should simply ignore now the attempts to stifle it!

Sometimes, watching the political charades, I think I'd cry if I wasn't able to laugh at them.
