Good Morning Everyone,
Its light and dry here in Brackley at the moment.
Todays plans get an early bus to Bicester , shop and I may treat myself to a Breakfast at a burger bar .
Brackley is busy with double decker buses taking people to British GP at Silverstone .
When I get home , I will have a beer locally ,then return home to watch the 1st Stage of the Tour De France from Barcelona.
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a cooler and breezy N. Surrey.

Lovely to read your posts again madeleine45. I hope your back steadily improves.

FGT it must be a home from home with kindly neighbours.

BlueSapphire I have my first cataract op on monday with a stent to be inserted as well. Not looking forward to it at all. Can I ask how long has your recovery taken? Eye sight good now?

Hope everyone has a peaceful day.

A late good morning all from a a warm and sunny North Leicestershire.

Jersey Boys was fabulous and our neighbour is a real star and had several ovations. However, in the car on the way home, I had a huge nose bleed. We stopped at a 24hr Asda where DH bought kitchen rolls and a towel. The damage was limited but I feel like a piece of chewed string today so will be doing very little.

Good morning everyone from another bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton day. Taking it easy again today, apart from a nice gentle trip to the shops - I need to return a dress to Next, as I found the colour too overpowering for me. I shall probably have a coffee and bacon roll in Costa.

Went back to dance class yesterday after a few weeks off, but eased into it by choosing a nice gentle ballet barre class; I had so many hugs and "welcome backs" from fellow dancers!

There was a huge parcel awaiting me when I got home - it was my new complimentary air fryer from Tower.
I had only reported mine on Wednesday evening as being on the dangerous list, when I was offered either a voucher or a new upgrade - I chose the upgrade.
The new one is twice the size and all-singing/all-dancing, with 5 different functions - it will take me some time to get the hang of it!
And all because I read karma's post on Wednesday about her old Tower air-fryer and their recall list.... Thank you karma! And well done Tower!

Wishing all a pleasant Saturday.

Good morning Micheal and all GN's on a grey morning with gusts of wind in North Yorkshire. This is the second time as was nearly at the end of my post and the whole lot disappeared. Hope this is not a sign for the rest of the day!!

I am getting ready to go out shopping, but it is slow going with my back not improving much at all. Yesterday had planned to go out but nothing desperately needed and my back was so bad I didnt bother , but plodded through the day, sorting out some books for the charity shop etc. So need to get out and down to the market for some fresh supplies, and probably get some lovely new potatoes to enjoy tonight. Hoping I shall get some inspiration for meals from what I see, as nothing coming to mind especially now.

No great plans for today but will get the papers and there may be something going on locally which will appeal. A couple of gardens are open this weekend but right now dont think I could manage to go round them so will have to see how things go tomorrow.

Wish you all a good day

Good morning, also from Malaga. We’re expecting a hot one, but currently out on our balcony with coffee. Might make it to the Marina later.
We adore the cathedral FGT. A couple of years ago DD2 was here and lucky to see the statue paraded around the City.
Good news ‘Harri’ but I don’t envy the traffic - I did it for 15 years, twice a day - it took over my life, but at least your DGD only has a couple of years and the Metro’s convenient there.

Hope Marydoll’s weekend is more relaxed than her recent exploits! I used to have periods where nothing would go to plan, it was always ‘whatever’s next’?

Best wishes to all. X

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 04-Jul-26 08:29:48

Good morning everybody from Málaga where it’s already warm at 9am. 34°C is our forecast.

I’ve had a lie in as a few of my Spanish neighbours obviously support Argentina and at 2am their enthusiastic shouting woke me up! I checked on line and yes, the game had gone into extra time - hence the heightened emotions!

Last night was challenging.

As I was sipping my café con leche at around 9:30pm, whole Spanish families started to arrive to eat (cooler by then, eminently sensible). A few of the grandmas from different groups spotted me - delight and welcome on their faces. They hadn’t seen me for two years.

“Buenos nochas! Que tal? Bien?”

Sadly, no señora. My husband. He died. “Mi marido murió”.
“No! Lo siento”.
Massive hugs.
Repeated several times. Such lovely neighbours who have become friends over the years.
Many first became friendly when L’il Miss was a baby and they all wanted us to pass her to them for cuddles. The Spanish adore little children - such ice breakers! Better than walking a dog out here. 😂

Times like these language isn’t so important really. Emotions take over on both sides. 😢

Oh how interesting ginny that sounds really good - Hope the rooms were nice!

Greyduster Sat 04-Jul-26 08:12:31

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is overcast today. I had hoped we would have rain, but it seems not. My poor garden will have to take its chances until we do..

I went over to the smaller of our two country parks yesterday for a walk. Another that was reclaimed from a former mining site. It was lovely - definitely a park for nature. Teeming with birds and butterflies. Lots of different areas of interest.

When I came home I had a message from DS who has been touring France in his motorhome: “1850 miles, seven regions, seven sites, two fridge magnets, no breakdowns (mental or mechanical)!” So almost all my ducklings are back on the home pond now. GS comes back from a jaunt with his friends this weekend.

Shopping this morning though I won’t need a lot - just fruit and some veg. Then we’ll see how the day unfolds.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning all from a sunny Black country.
Washing done and out on the line I do love to dry it outside, neighbours have been here for 10yrs and have never put any washing out.
Need to pop to Tesco's hope the fridge and freezers are working this week, out with friends later.
Haven't read through yet so will catch up with everybody's happenings after usual Saturday full English.
Hope Marydoll had a better day yesterday.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans, best wishes to anyone celebrating and virtual hugs where needed 😎.

Gagagran Sat 04-Jul-26 08:00:51

Good Morning everyone from a pleasantly warm central south coast. We have a sea breeze usually which keeps humidity at bay so the heat isn't too unbearable.

DH has a morning coffee and cake ride with his cycling club. I shall continue to concentrate on trying to improve from my fall which has left effects which seem reluctant to leave.

DD arrived home safely from her trip to Hong Kong via Melbourne. The flight back was delayed for almost 4 hours so made an already long journey even longer. She said she'd had a great time and is very resilient so will catch up on sleep before work tomorrow.

I am looking forward to watching the Tour de France which starts today, as Mick reminded us. We have been to watch it live three times in France and love the scenery and the wonderful athleticism of the top performers. It's the highlight of summer sport for us both.

So sorry to read of our MD's woes and just hope her weekend is calmer and more restful. Glad things are back to normal for Bellas and her little treasure has recovered.

Wishing all with troubles or worries of any kind a better day and all travellers a safe passage. Take car in the heat!

ginny Sat 04-Jul-26 08:00:41

Good morning everyone.
Well , yesterday turned out very differently to what I had thought. DH told me after breakfast that we were leaving the holiday cottage after lunch instead of today but wouldn’t tell me where we were going. We spent a lovely morning in the sun on Bodmin Moor and had a small picnic lunch. Then he had decided that my reward for being a good wife for 50 years was to be accommodated in prison. We spent the night in Bodmin prison part of which has been converted in a very nice hotel. A beautiful bouquet was in our room and we enjoyed a delicious dinner.
After breakfast we are moving down to the Lizard to meet up with long time Friends for the week.
Wishing you all a good day and relief for those with worries and troubles.

dragonfly46 Sat 04-Jul-26 07:59:45

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

When I took my picture to be framed the framer immediately knew who the artist was. Apparently she pops in often do he is going to ask her to sign the back. Such a coincidence as it was bought by DD in London and DS in Brighton.

The other good news is that DD was offered a job having been made redundant and will be working for her old boss.

Nothing at all planned today although may pop to Dunelm to pick up an order.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 04-Jul-26 07:59:11

Morning all from West Oxfordshire where it may get to 26 degrees.

Our new window cleaner did well yesterday. He was much cheaper than the previous guy. OH arranged for someone to cut back the hedges this morning. He’s now changed his mind and wants to get some more quotes. Humph!

I will be picking up younger son from the station this morning. He will be here until tomorrow evening.

Have a good day everyone.

Liberty Sat 04-Jul-26 07:58:17

Good morning from Suffolk where it is forecast to reach 25 degrees. That is just about the highest temp I enjoy. DH who always feels the cold can cope with a degree or 2 more.

We hadn’t had any fans until yesterday when we had a tower fan delivered which we ordered after the overwhelming recent heat. It is just like a Dyson but considerably cheaper, being Russell Hobbs and we are delighted, although the little dog less so. DH pleased that the very simple assembly instructions are in a paper leaflet in English,it has a warranty for 2 years ….by the way,I’m not on commission for saying this!

I’m about to go and water the pots and after breakfast and a walk,I should say stroll with the dog,we’ll have a peaceful day at home. DS and partner are in London having been to a concert last night so we won’t be seeing them this weekend.DgD1 is home from university so they are making the most use of her as a babysitter for their 2 younger ones while they can.

Hope today is a good one for all.

harrigran Sat 04-Jul-26 07:56:03

Good morning from a dry but very windy NE.
DS and family are taking me on holiday, until last evening I wasn't sure it would go ahead. Yesterday evening we got the news we had been waiting for, GD has a conditional offer for 6th form at the RGS in Newcastle, DS's Alma Mater.
The closure of schools by Galaxy Global is attracting a lot of attention and MPs are promising to raise questions in Parliament. There was a peaceful protest outside of the school yesterday and all buses, lorries and cars were beeping their horns in support.
We need to stop this Chinese company asset stripping for their own ends.
Thoughts are with those suffering.
Have a good weekend.

Jaxjacky Sat 04-Jul-26 07:45:01

Morning, high cloud in S Hants. Thank you for your good wishes, my son is collecting her cake from us later. No, not made here!
One of her silly gifts from us was a July 1986 Good Housekeeping magazine, highly entertaining. We’ll call in about 4pm, just for an hour.
Great picture Bellas very professional.
Enjoy trips out today, regatta sounds fun Sar great weather for it.
Thoughts with those not having such a great time 🦩 🦩

Grammaretto Sat 04-Jul-26 07:34:39

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's overcast. Rain forecast for most of the week ahead.
At last I have found a roofer prepared at least to come and look for the root of the latest leak.

My back doesn't seem to be any better so I am thoroughly depressed. I was told to keep moving so I waddle around as much as I can bear.

I am enjoying having Helpers staying and yesterday they repaired, pruned and shaped the willow bower which had grown very tall and scraggly. They shopped and cooked supper, smiling throughout.

I'm taking them to the French conversation group today which will give them the chance to meet some locals over coffee and cake.

How lovely that your little one has settled so well with you. latedecember I hope it works out well.

Glad to read that you are fit again FGT

Sorry to hear of your catalogue of disasters Marydoll but well done coping with it. I hope the new machines are trouble free.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Redcar Sat 04-Jul-26 07:24:49

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, sunny, blue skies and a cool breeze this morning. A warm day is forecast. Yesterday’s lunchtime bingo session went well, but with fewer people than usual, some on holiday, some at a funeral in the village church.
It’s my dementia friend’s birthday today, although I don’t think she will be aware of it. I’ll get her some flowers and take them round later.

I think DD2 may call in today, not sure about DD1. They’re both busy all day tomorrow so I won’t see them then. I’ll attempt some gardening but the earth is so dry it’s very hard work to do anything useful.

latedecember I’m sorry your DH isn’t feeling well enough to visit you this weekend and hope you manage to successfully pretend it’s not Saturday!

marydoll I hope you don’t suffer too many after effects from your lumberjacking work in the garden! I hope you can have a more restful weekend.

Thinking of all those in pain and with worries and hoping that life is kind to you today.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Gingster Sat 04-Jul-26 07:23:30

Good morning all and the air is pleasant at the moment.

I’ve got the slow cooker sorted as our friend gave us two venison steaks yesterday. He recommended flash frying , but I’m more confident that the slow cooker will make it tender .
It’s a bit hot for casseroles but I can always freeze it.

I enjoyed a Pimms when we met up with our Friday friends. Summer in a glass! We had a laugh and I missed dh being there, but he’s very deaf at the moment despite very good hearing aids. We have a lady coming on Wednesday to give him a ‘clear out’.

DS1 and lovely DIL are popping in for coffee this morning with some things that are tricky for me to pick up with the ‘not driving’ thing! 😠. He’ll find jobs to do and I’ll ask DIL to re-thread the blind chain that’s come adrift. She’s very handy and practical. 🥰.

Another lovely afternoon watching tennis, with strawberries and icecream , from our comfy chairs with the fan on. I couldn’t bear to actually be there in this heat. 🥵.

My friend and Dh are caught up with the fires in southern France. They spend every summer camping there and have been evacuated from the site. I await news of them

Thankyou FGT for your comment to me yesterday. Take each day as it comes, is my motto. I hope you have a lovely day, now you’re feeling better. 🥰

Bellasnanna what a great pic .,your gd certainly looks the part.

Enjoy the day as much as you can. 🌺

Usedtobeblonde Sat 04-Jul-26 07:17:08

Good morning from Stockport, I can’t report on the weather as I haven’t looked out yet but rain is forecast.
Yesterday was lovely, 23 degrees and so pleasant.
I got my trip to M&S but only bought nice food.

Tomorrow is my GD’s BF’s birthday and today he is playing golf and being taken for a meal by his two best friends so my GD and I are going for a meal at a newly refurbished restaurant which is a favourite of ours.
They are having a Spa day tomorrow.

My new gardeners are coming this morning to tackle the overgrown back garden, I was very happy with the front which they did two weeks ago.

I hope you can all find something to enjoy today.

brook2704 Sat 04-Jul-26 07:15:25

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s warm with light grey clouds, a sunny day forecast for later
Great photo Bellas
A lovely surprise yesterday when meeting up with DD2 as she’d brought the DGC along too. It was good to see them all and catch up on all their news. We’ve nothing much planned for the weekend apart from going to a couple of furniture shops to look at sofas, I think I’ve found what I’m looking for online, but we need to actually try it out, so I hope the right one is in the showroom. No doubt we’ll go to our favourite coffee place whilst in town.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Llamas99 Sat 04-Jul-26 07:13:51

Bellasnana It's so nice to read your morning posts again. Your DGD looks so professional, definitely has the posture. And her hair is so long, love the style.
Very nice that you are pleased with the new hairdresser and DGS2 has bounced back quickly. Saw your birthday present to yourself, looks very efficient!
Best wishes to all GNers for a great day!

RosesandLilac Sat 04-Jul-26 07:06:26

Good morning, it’s cloudy here in south Glos, lovely and cool too.
Our lovely neighbours moved yesterday, only into the village but we’ll miss them. I briefly met the new ones who seem very nice.
I did a bit of gardening, more today, I am pleased with how it looks.
I need to sort out the freezer sometime, clear some space and see exactly what I have.
Little happening here today.
Have a lovely day everyone 🌹

luluaugust Sat 04-Jul-26 06:55:39

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. A change of plans yesterday meant we had a very nice lunch out but as we could only manage two courses it all seemed to be over in a flash. Watched tennis all afternoon not good for my back.
Today an early trip to the garden centre and then I think DS is coming to see us. A few small jobs lined up for him, the bending things
Lovely photo * Bella*
Enjoy the party Jaxjacky
Best wishes all round

Astitchintime Sat 04-Jul-26 06:50:23

Good morning from the NE Mids. Weather is bright and still with a promise of yet another warm day.
I did manage to clear most of the chickweed yesterday, there is still a little around some lavender which I left alone as the bees were there in abundance, naturally, I didn’t want to antagonise them.
I’m off to the police station today, I witnessed an RTC recently and I’m required to make a statement. I also have dash cam footage that they want to see.
Have a good day one and all!
