What memory makes you smile? I saw this question was on the label of a bottle of fizzy water.

I remember smiling when I realised, on my very last day at school, that I would never have to play hockey again.smile
I can also remember the many times when my DCs said and did things that made me smile.

A memory in the making - on my bucket list was to buy a Small Smart Car! Taking my darling grandaughter out for a test drive. Beaming, & proud of my new "old" banger, I asked her what did she think? - "Nervous, I feel like a driving instructor!" She's only ten years old! - (I didn't think i drove it that bad!)

I was driving my (then) small granddaughter home from nursery school just before Christmas. ‘I Saw Mummy Kissing Santa Claus’ was playing on the radio when a small voice piped up, ‘Granny, if I saw mummy kissing Santa Claus….I’d tell Dad!

My daughter and family moved to Costa Rica last June. My (only) granddaughter was 6 and 1/2 at the time. When we had video called, she was uncommunicative and mostly absent during the calls. I flew down for the first week of December that year. I was so afraid that she was going to be distant and aloof but I had to go, I so needed to reconnect. Upon seeing me at the airport she broke from her mom and ran straight to me with arms out and big grin "Granna!!!" not only makes me smile, brings a happy tear. We had a lovely week together...Miss her so much...

Having recently revealed to me he has a secret stash of family photos, DH just sent me this....which was very welcome news as most of ours all went missing in the course of one of our many house moves in over 50 years. This one is of grandbaby number 2. We moved South for 3 years to help with her while mum went back to work. She looks just like her mum at that age and takes after her gran with her feet up. She's still very good at art. Sorry you'll have to crick your necks to see it properly. No idea how to rectify the presentation!...

Looking after our youngest GD one day when she was just 3 yrs old, she asked for a banana. I picked one up ready to peel it and she very indignantly said no no Nanny I want a clean banana not a dirty one! It had a just a couple of black marks on the skin. It often makes me laugh when I picture her little face being so serious grin

Going to the hospital with my son to see my newly married daughter and my husband. He had just given her one of his kidneys and they were both OK. This was nearly forty years ago when it was very unusual. Such a happy day.
