1st July

England are into the knockout stages of the football world cup and the games kicks off at 5pm.
Make sure you do all your shopping in the morning before the shelves are emptied of alcohol

MissAdventure

Are you sure, there, Sago?
grin

Any suggestions as to what we could do with the rogue jar of tahini?

MissAdventure Sun 28-Jun-26 12:45:36

You could make a slightly bitter, nutty tasting humous, apparently.
Thats what AI says. smile

It'd go nicely with some of your drinks stock.

Grandmafrench Sun 28-Jun-26 12:45:46

Tahini suggestions? It's so delish, there's an awful lot it can be used for, not just hummus and baba ganoush. It would be a great deal of help with lots of (easy) food which you're going to need to help soak up some of your fridge contents. It's summer, relax and have fun. 🥂

MissAdventure Sun 28-Jun-26 12:48:18

Baba ganoush...
I must go and look that up.

Sago Sun 28-Jun-26 13:04:48

I make a lot of butter bean hummus/houmous/hommus/humus.

I may make some baba ganoush/baba ganoush/baba ghanouj/baba ganoug for a change.

See what I did there?

Yes I beat the pedants!

😉

Do you have a favourite recipe you could share?

I know I can look it up, but if you make a lot of it - it might be more interesting than recipes on the 'net smile

Dickens I follow this recipe but use my Thermomix, you should get a good result in a blender though.

Let me know what you think, it’s more velvety than a chick pea hummus.

Thank you Sago! - I've bookmarked the recipe. There are also some interesting alternatives too... and I have a Magimix!

Just checked my drinks fridge, as it’s just the two of us I think we should be OK for the game.

Thanks for the tip though😉

You might need to replenish it before Wednesday Sago, you’ve still got Sunday, Monday & Tuesday to get through! 😂🥂

Oh God. Football and tennis? Nooo. Think I'll hibernate till it's all over. I'll go out and stock up right now.

I am with you, my three “adult” children with Down Syndrome are not impressed. Eldest daughter looked in the Radio Times and said “Bloody Football “ didn’t tell her off my sentiments exactly.

You should really get your beer and wine in the day before to give it lots of time to chill.

Nothing worse than half chilled drinks or any sort.

I am desperate for England to lose a match! - my DD and her OH have sunk £10,000s in the festival they run - it is their livelihood - and we definitely do NOT want England in the final or they will face a financial disaster.

Sadly (for the fans) I think your daughter will get her wish.

Can’t stop me going to the pub if I want to ⚽️🍷🍻😁😁

Ooh watch it MawsRosie!

Surely nobody would deny a free adult of advanced years the freedom to go to a pub?(or not)
Or indeed to shop for items other than alcohol, on a Wednesday or any other day?

Our local last night, singing Hey Jude.

Perhaps they should have an area with a big screen where people at the festival who want to watch the match could go?

petra Sun 28-Jun-26 19:44:18

As if our hospitality industry aren’t in enough trouble 🤬
I’m all right, Jack, pull up the ladder.

They do have contingency plans along those lines - but they will lose their walk-up which is where the profit lies. And big screen hire does not come cheap ....

I realised the other day that we’re going to a gig on World Cup final day, booked months ago. I thought DH would take that news badly, but he surprised me by saying he’ll just catch it later. I don’t think he’s expecting England to be in it though… grin

You haven’t seen the riddling rack full of reds or the box in the garage full of white not unpacked yet😳.
