Good morning from a cooler northwest coast. I didn’t go to the choral concert last night as felt off colour, I’m not sure if stopping my statins combined with the heat has made me unwell. I’ve also cancelled my usual open mic night out with a friend.
I’m living on salads, so that’s one healthy thing.
I’ll ring my recently bereaved SIL and have a quiet day.
Thoughts to UTBB and I too think of our missing posters🌺

Good Morning Sunday 28th June 2026
(43 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its light and the start of another warm day here in Brackley no sign of thunderstorms either just hot unfordable weather .
Yesterday , did the usual , supermarket wise many areas such as frozen food and ice cream blocked off , plus shutters down in other ares , people panic buying?
Health the current climate is effecting me .
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning from the east coast. I’m sitting in the cool corner of my patio in the shade.
I downloaded the Merlin free bird app yesterday that Jeremy clarkson was using on Clarksons farm and it’s great. We had 11 birds singing in and around the garden this morning including a Goldcrest. It’s such a joy.
Today we have the family over for food and the 3 DGC will be in and out of the sprinkler I expect. Hope GS gives me a break running through and enjoys his cousins company instead. No doubt there will be lots of screaming as little girls do.
I’m doing a roast beef and gammon with Yorkshire puds and roasties with a jug of gravy but also putting out cheese and biscuits and pate and crackers. My DH said is it a roast dinner or a buffet. Well it’s both all together for a change. The girls are excited I’m doing chocolate dipped strawberries. 🍓
Unfortunately our large parasol took off and broke in a large gust of wind yesterday ending up on our flat roof extension so we have no shade. Our garden is south facing DH doesn’t want to put anything more permanent up because he really wants to move but I don’t.
Condolences Usedtobeblonde that’s really sad to lose one of your oldest friends 💐
Thoughts to everyone struggling with stress and illness today 💐
Hope you all have a day with moments of joy🌼
Good Morning everyone from a blessedly cooler central south coast.
It was hotter than the forecast yesterday, reaching 28c but I managed to do more including cutting DH's hair. Much needed and he looks and feels much better for it. We set up the "salon" in the shade outdoors and it was a successful idea to do so.
DD is now on her flight from Melbourne to Hong Kong for a few days holiday with her old University friend and room mate. She is due back on Friday.
DGD3 has her degree day at Durham on Wednesday and a suitable financial donation has been made to her bank account in recognition of her achievement. She will be sad to leave Durham after three very happy years, but is ready to spread her wings now.
Nothing else planned today. Still waiting on more news from my niece, on my big brother. My sister went and sat with him during the week and held his hand but he wasn't speaking.
She and I did the same for our Dad when he was in a coma for 10 days following a leg amputation. He died shortly after we left.
Kind thoughts to all struggling, especially our Marydoll who is a real inspiration of fortitude and determination. I also think of other Grans with illness, frailty or worries to cope with. May there be some ease and comfort today.
After a few days of doing so little, I feel like the train companies must feel after train cancellations or airlines after long holdups when all the trains or planes are in the wrong place.
Everything in my house is not where it should be. So a bit of a tidy up this morning.
Morning from gey skies and 20 in S Hants. A cooler night, but MrJ was too cool with the fan on and retrieved the duvet, I was happy with a sheet, bedding needs washed again.
Yesterday we went to our local, I haven’t seen anyone from there or in the village for nearly a week, so a good catch up.
Have a great day BlueSapphire a proper itinerary!
Enjoy your butterfly day brook, great pictures baubles thanks.
MrJ will go to meat draw today, not sure if I will.
Enjoy your day if you can.
Good morning from the NE where it is sunny and breezy.
I closed the windows at bedtime because it was raining and also windy.
A day of just reading yesterday as I was not feeling well.
Hope GD is coping in the heat, she is camping and hiking for her D of E silver award.
Another quiet day, think dinner will be salad.
Have a good day.
Today’s forecast suggests light showers but no sign as yet. And DS, a surprise visitor, has just gone for “a short run” so definitely cooler - but only for a few days, apparently, before more hot weather arrives. Should be melted to a puddle if this goes on!
Good morning from Cambridgeshire where it is 20 degrees, windy and cloudy. I do enjoy the long warm days but Wednesday, Thursday and Friday’s extreme heat here wiped me out. I have been incredibly lazy which is unusual for me.
Today I feel I need some exercise and will go out on my e-bike this morning doing a loop of 10 miles or so on tracks and country lanes ending up at the Bowls club to watch DH. He is really enjoying his second season at the outdoor bowls and getting picked for the A team now😂 DGD2 may join us this afternoon for a while as DD2 has the football presentations for DGS2 which she is not keen to go too.
I too am missing some of the regulars on here and hoping they are all ok. I don’t post every day but dip in when I can.
Also sending very best wishes to those struggling with ill health and other problems and worries and hoping things will get easier.
Wishing everyone an enjoyable Sunday 🌷
Good morning from a slightly cooler Leicestershire I took the doggy out in the rain this morning. It didn’t last long though.
Not much planned today. I must do some cleaning as doggy has brought half the garden in with him.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good morning from a much cooler Torbay with a welcome breeze and a temperature of 21deg. with rain forecast. (We’ll believe it when we see it!) We are late waking after a restful night at last!
Yesterday we wandered round the local shops, including the pharmacy and enjoyed coffee at a nearby cafe. After dinner, we took our wine (in plastic beakers) to enjoy whilst sitting in the park opposite my flat.
We’ve seen the RB’s production of Sleeping Beauty and it was sumptuous, BlueSapphire! Seeing it in the round would be fascinating so I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful time.
It’s always sad to lose a friend of long standing, Usedtobeblonde. I guess all of us are different in personality to some extent as we age but I hope the good memories of her remain with you.
Thinking of our absent posters, especially Bellasnana and madeleine.
A blessed Sunday to you all! 🦩🥰✝️💐🦩
Good morning from an overcast Wiltshire. Whilst it’s cooler outside, the house has acted like a storage heater and it is very hot inside still.
We went round to see DD2 and family yesterday. It was still hot sitting in the garden. The GCs were quarrelling as per usual. DD2 has brought a scooter so she can take the kids to school as she’s currently not allowed to drive. The hospital said it was likely to have been a TIA she suffered last week but she has still not got a date for an MRI.
I did very little last week so must do the many jobs that have built up. I see it will be hot again from next weekend.
I’m very pleased you have been told you can be treated RosesandLilac Thinking of Marydoll and the tremendous pressure she is under.
Have a good Sunday everyone.
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 15°C.
Condolences UTBB,💐
GM, I am a bit slow in the morning, but was the ram raid comment, tongue in cheek?
DH was delighted to have a visit from Babydoll and her parents yesterday, closely followed by an exhausted DD and SIL, who had foolishly walked down from the village.
Babydoll brought a helium balloon for DH, chosen by herself. It was Hey Duggie themed.🤣
DH kindly suggested, that she take it home for her tree house. He didn't need to ask twice.
I was dreading having a Hey Duggie helium balloon stuck to my ceiling for weeks.
I went down to Mass, sitting at the open fire door, to keep away from people. It was surprisingly quiet anyway.
To my absolute embarrassment, I had a wardrobe malfunction
I had made an effort and thought I looked so ^elegant in my colourful Hělène Berman dress.
While talking to the P.P and a parishioner in the porch, I noticed another parishioner, frantically waving at me; my shirt dress was open from neck to waist. 😱 Thank goodness, I was wearing a pristine, new bra.
I was horrified!! The P.P did not know, where to look!
Later, he laughed when I said I was a shameless hussy!!
Dollie was at Mass with her parents, I was overjoyed to see her. DIL was behaving oddly, she has been traumatised by her recent bowel ops and we are treading carefully. 😪
They are off to London for a few days, I am quite envious, DH dislikes London, so no chance of us going.
DD and I had planned a trip together, going down on the train, but that is on hold permanently.
Today, I will just potter in the garden, in between showers. I find great solace in the garden and find if I have frequent rests, I can manage.
DH has requested Chicken Maryland, a favourite of his, he isn't eating, therefore I am happy to oblige, even if it is a faff to make.
I hope Bellasnanna comes back soon. It upsets me, when posters are driven away by more robust posters.
I do miss Blossoming.
Have a pleasant Sunday, everyone.
Good morning and it’s cooler here on the Suffolk coast.,
Yesterday started very hot but as the tide turned the welcome cool breeze arrived.
Today we head back home to Essex. We’ve had a lovely few days here , being much cooler than at home.
I’ll vacuum and tidy and leave the place welcoming for DD and friends next weekend.
Like you, Liberty I look forward to getting back to the usual routine.
I hope you all feel more comfortable today . Take care
Good morning from my little corner of S E Essex, the sky is blue the sun is shining it’s 21°
The Take That concert last night was amazing, they really know how to put on a show. For those of you who live close to that part of East London, we found one of your hidden jewels for lunch Barge East, as it sounds it was on the canal, restaurants in barges and in little gardens along the quay side, it was soooo hot.
80,000 people leaving g the same place at the same time at the end was interesting all the surrounding roads were closed so our driver couldn’t get to us, it hey ho the hours walk to get to him was worth it, and of course we were not the only people looking for their lifts
I shall not be doing a lot today, other than catching up,with your news.
I hope your Sunday is as relaxing and peaceful as mine is going to hopefully be 🙋♀️
Good morning from Durham. Cloudy and warm, but there’s a cool breeze.
DD2 and DGS2 are here, so I’m playing football in the garden with him, while DD2 ‘tries’ to have a lie in. It’s not going well, as he’s in and out of her room every 5 minutes. They’ll go around 12, as DGS2 has another birthday party to attend. These little ones live exciting lives!
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
It's cool and quiet after high winds yesterday.
I am supposed to be considering the offer on my house and I am minded to accept it despite it being a bit lower than the asking price.
I felt happy with the couple's enthusiasm and not fear of taking on this old pile.
Meanwhile I am still nursing my painful
back. I must do some food shopping. I'll take the trolley so I don't have to carry a heavy rucksack.
Such a shock when old friends go UTBB
I have lost contact with a couple of people due to their change of number or address.
Mind you, they know mine! 😅
Thinking of all the poorly ones on here and also the holiday makers.
Enjoy Málaga again FGT
Enjoy your family day GM
Thailand sounds good Baubles
How funny your tiddler sounds R&L 😄
Keep cool everyone.
… the heat will be back…
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a lovely sunny start to the day and a high of just 20° forecast
So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend Uttb
I’ll be out most of today as there’s a line dancing social event this afternoon but I’m going along early to help set up the tables and decorate the room. It’s a butterfly themed event to support a local charity, I was busy yesterday sewing appliqué butterflies onto a Tshirt and making a few table decorations. There’s a couple of singers coming along so we’ll enjoy some live music as well as the usual drinks and food to share.
Have a lovely day today BlueSapphire it sounds wonderful and very well organised
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning Mick and everyone from grey Carlisle. It is 17°C outside but much warmer and very stuffy inside in spite of the windows being open all night.
I should be out on a walk but it has just started raining lightly. If it doesn't get worse, I shall go anyway.
It was a tad cooler yesterday and I managed to get out in the garden and give my black elder a pruning. I want to encourage it upwards not sideways to smother other things. That was it, I am just not up to anything physical and I'm getting bored, I'm not someone who's happy sitting about inside.
I'll probably be moaning about greyness and rain next week!
Have a good Sunday everyone.
Morning all from a relatively cooler West Oxfordshire. It was supposed to have been cooler yesterday, but ‘they’ lied! I barely went out and sat in the lounge with the fan on. I managed to do some ironing but felt quite queasy.
Today will be equally quiet. OH will take over the kitchen where he will take off lots of honey and store it for a short time. The bits of bees etc will ruse to the surface so he can lift it off. Something like that anyway.
Have a good day everyone. Savour the slightly colder weather because it will be back in a week!
Good morning Mick and all from a cooler fresher Morecambe Bay. The forecast is for more blue sky, but hopefully not so hot.
Plans for today include an early longish dog walk followed by church. DH has various jobs to do now it’s cooler so I will get on with more sorting. We have a full diary for next week and it doesn’t include catching up with my gardening jobs which will have to be fitted in somehow as we are off again on our travels in just over a weeks time. I only have two gardens to look after these days as well as mine and the church garden, but they seem to take up a disproportionate amount of time.
Take care everyone 🌸
Good morning from Suffolk where the temp is just a couple of degrees cooler than yesterday when, thankfully,a slight onshore breeze returned.
About to go and water the backyard pots and then enjoyed another cup of tea. I think today should be the last really fiercely hot day and, like others,it can’t come too soon for me. I don’t think I’ve ever had such a lazy few days and am looking forward to my normal life resuming.
We were very fortunate with our Waitrose order yesterday where everything was available and no substitutes although the driver said that.on his return to the store to reload, there were screens down certain areas.
Hope those feeling unwell feel better as the heat recedes and all have the best day possible.
Good morning all from a much cooler Black country according to my phone its 6° lower than yesterday.
I was awake at 5 but went straight back to sleep, have watered the pots in the garden and may do a bit of ironing before DH awakes.
Mick our big Tesco's freezers were all broken so all shelves were empty there wasn't even anything in the fruit and veg aisles.
Enjoy your proper breakfast Mattie 🥓🍳.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans and stay cool 😎.
Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Blue sky and sunshine again, with a cool breeze so it feels fresher this morning. Both DDs visited yesterday morning, which was really nice. We were in the garden for a little while but it was quite uncomfortable in the heat. I did very little after they’d gone. I’m hoping to resume normal exercise and activities this week after not doing anything in the heat of this last week!
utbb I’m sorry to hear about your friend, a sad time for you.
helterskelter one of my friends is up at 4.30 most mornings and is outside pottering about in her garden then!
grandmattie enjoy your “proper” breakfast with your DS and the family lunch at your DD’s later!
Hoping that those who are poorly will feel a little better soon.
Have as good a day as is possible for you, enjoy the slightly cooler weather!
Good morning from Sheffield
I have a baby shower to go to this afternoon. The menfolk are invited too so we will pop along there later. It is in a bar in the city. We will go out for some food before we go. there is a lovely Greek café nearby, so I will fill up on Feta and Humous .
I’m not sure whether there is food there but as I am coeliac I think it’s best to eat before.
I can’t make my mind up about baby showers . Any kind of gathering for friends and families is a good thing but I’m still unsure about the new trend for men to go. I’m sure in America where it first started it’s just a gathering of the female friend and family members, but hey ho perhaps I’m being a bit mean
I think I will just have a little potter in the garden this morning. Nothing too strenuous.
I’m sorry to hear about your friend UTTB.
Take care everyone
