Hello! I forgot to sign in. I blame the weather. I thought today was supposed to be cooler, but it isn’t.
Happy birthday 🥳 Mr. MD.
Good morning from a nice cool Edinburgh , I had to pull up the duvet last night as I woke up cold !
I hope it’s not too warm where we’ve booked for lunch today , there will be 8 of us so plenty of chat
I’m sorry to read of all your botherations Marydoll
especially you missing Dollie
Usedtobeblonde I agree that the heat going over 20 makes me ill too , my 89th is November , when I am moaning about the cold !
I didn’t know you could get air conditioning in one room , is it a plug in unit ?
Thinking of those with troubles 💐
I’m saddened to hear of the change in Dollie’s mum Marydoll it must be a huge concern to you all. She has been through so much recently . Plus your husband doesn’t sound his usual self. Add in your own health issues it must all be seeming pretty overwhelming at present. x
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Cooler today and just as I like it.
There were drumbeats earlier . It was an Orange men's march down the high street. Honestly I am rather surprised that these sectarian events are permitted.
Today is the Scottish Opening of Parliament so King Charles and Camilla will be in town.
Your cruise sounds perfect brook. If I ever decide to go on a cruise, I'll choose that. 😊
Ooh you're in Thailand Baubles so is my DS and family having a big/last family holiday before the children no longer want to go. Have a wonderful time.
I'm sure you have slept better with pure relief R&L 😊 long may it continue.
My back is still sore and the Doc prescribed even stronger pain killers than I was taking so I am spaced out now. I slept a bit better.
I've had an offer on my house but it's not the full amount so I m considering it. I have more viewings next week.
Happy birthday Mr MD I hope you two can treat yourselves to something nice .
Keep cool everyone.
Gingster in answer to your question does Robbie ever appear ? The answer is yes, we were at the Wembley Arena concert several years ago and he made an appearance, sang with Take That, and then performed some of his solo numbers, he was of course fabulous 💙
Good morning, Michael12 and everyone!
It was my usual day off work yesterday, but while I'd normally go to my favourite cafe for brekkie, I just couldn't because of the weather. It was about 27 but felt more like 127!
I only left my flat to go to Spar for 2 packs of saccharin as I don't ever have sugar in my tea, just sweeteners, but I was back home as soon as I possibly could.
Other than the front door, all doors and windows/blinds were wide open, and fans in all rooms, other than the shower room, were whizzing around at speed for hours.
I went out in my t-shirt and shorts, but when I arrived home, my t-shirt was so much caked in sweat I couldn't get it off, as the sweat was stuck to me like glue, so I had to literally cut it off!
I drank gallons of cold drinks and 2 mugs of tea during the day, but had nothing to eat - too hot even for cold stuff - and was so agonisingly hot I actually was in tears a couple of times! I thought it was going to be a case of spontaneous human combustion!
About 10:30 pm, I scoffed 2 Spar discount yoghurts and a cuppa and tried to go back to bed, but was swimming in sweat just minutes later and badly missing a lot of sleep, so today at work I'm an exhausted, hot, overly sticky, sweaty mess with a tumping headache!
I've not even done any reading or YouTube obsessing, but I'll make up for it as soon as I can! I have a book called The Demon Code by Adam Blake, which needs my attention!
And such heatwaves can cause leg infections, which I've got in my left leg! I've had them before with such weather, so instead of going to the doctor, I fill myself with Nurofen, which is a big help.
See you all later!
Uttb on the Schools closure thread theres a link to a lovely scene of a teacher spraying water over school kids in the playground...it made me feel cool to watch it and they were having such fun. And a link to children in a Jersey school spening time in cool WW2 bunkers.
Lots of us feel like you feel so I empathise as well.
Best wishes to Mr Marydoll for his special day 🍰🥂
Usedtobeblonde
How I empathise with you
Actually it’s afternoon here!
Good morning from very hot and humid Bangkok.
We are loving being amazed by the sights and sounds of this city. It is huge, the people are unfailingly polite and friendly and we have had a wonderful few days here.
So far today we’ve had a couple of hours in a longboat touring the canals of old Bangkok where houses on stilts line the waterways followed by another couple of hours admiring the exquisitely decorated Grand Palace. Time to hit the pool now.
Photos taken from the longboat.
Tomorrow we fly to Surat Thani to spend a couple of days in a camp in the National Park where we hope to see elephants among other animals.
Hoping all is well with our Good Morningers.
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where its a gorgeous sunny day and we gave a forecast of ‘only’ 28°C which ought to feel less humid with a bit of luck.
I slept patchily as I developed an itchy sweat rash over my abdomen. The itchiness drove me nuts but as I hate taking tablets of any kind (wuss that I am) I avoided taking an antihistamine and it’s gone now anyway, thankfully.
I’m being picked up at noon by my (wingman) brother in law and his wife and we are driving over to lunch at a pub in Stockport (your neck of the woods uttb) meeting Himself’s younger brother and wife there. I’m so looking forward to seeing them - it’s been so long. Sometimes coordinating a date can be so tricky!
Happy birthday to Mr MD 🎂🍺
Morning from a slightly fresher S Hants, MrJ turned the bedroom fan down overnight as he was chilly!
Hospital appointment yesterday, we have agreed 6 monthly injections for my osteoporosis, to be done at my GP’s. I need some dental work done before they start.
BBQ tonight, just the two of us before the England game.
Enjoy your Saturday all.
🦩🦩
Good morning everyone from a very beeezy Anglesey. We had a good journey down yesterday with just a few slow bits on the A55.
I like the sound of your weekend, Karma. I haven't done much sewing, but a knitting or crochet weekend would be up my street.
Lovely picture, Hollysteers. I've changed statin from Atarvostatin to Rosuvastatin as the former started to give me terrible leg cramps after a couple of years.
I wanted to just stop taking them but my GP was very insistent that I try a different one. So far, 6 weeks on, I've been ok. I hope you manage to find a solution because cramp is horrible.
Hope everyone enjoys the cooler weather. Take care. 🌻
Good morning fro Stockport 23 degrees and a forecast of 28 later.
Yesterday the heat made me feel ill.
I couldn’t cope and I was tearful. I felt so useless just sitting in a darkened room with a fan and endless water.
It is two weeks to my 89th birthday and If the summers are going to be like this in future I really don’t want to be here for however few I have left.
Another similar day today then hopefully it will turn cooler.
Stay hydrated and in the shade everyone.
Good morning all from a very sticky North Leicestershire.
DD2 and her 2 oldest friends are off to see Take That too. They haven't missed a tour since TT began - luckily we aren't involved in doing lifts any more.
Today, i am going to a Concert (with tea and cake) to remember my lovely friend who died a year ago. Her sister runs local choirs so is putting on a Concert in her memory and to raise money for AgeUk's Dementia Service for whom her sister worked and I volunteer.
Good morning all.
Yesterday was very warm, even here by the sea. The breeze was hot and as you walked out of the house, it hit you like a sauna.
Last night we had thunder, lightning and rain, so I sat up at 3.30 , watching it over the sea. Very dramatic!
It’s still rumbling around now.
Feels cooler though.🙏.
Today I’ll have a clean up and leave the place pristine for DD who is coming next weekend with her friend , DGD and friends child.
Dgd1 has requested a visit with a couple of friends too.
Everyone wants one last time at the ‘ sea side house’. 😢.
GG enjoy the concert. Does Robbie ever appear?
Lovely painting Hollysteers 🧑🎨.
Take care all 🌺
GrannyGravy13 I’ve just googled Gary Barlow singing a million love songs to the bride at her wedding. ❤️❤️
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 17°C.
It is DH's birthday today, but both of us are feeling pretty rotten, consequently we are having a quiet day.
Normally, we would have takeaway, but he doesn't fancy that, in fact he doesn't want to do anything.😪
DD and SIL are walking down from the village and Babydoll and family should appear later, so I need to get a move on.
I will need to keep an eye on the rain, in case they need picked up. The plan is to catch the train at ours and have a day out on the Southside, hence the walk.
DIL. is behaving oddly, her bowel ops, have severely impacted onher emotional wellbeing. We probably won't see Dollie.😪
Wishing you all a pleasant day.
Enjoy Take That tonight GG. My DS is going too.
We went to their final concert before the break-up in Rotterdam then the following day watched their farewell trip on a boat down the Amstel in Amsterdam.
Good morning from a very warm start to the day here on the east coast of Fife I’ve had my bedroom fan on all night. GrannyGravy13 you lucky thing I love Gary Barlow you’ll enjoy the take that show I remember seeing a video of a wedding taking place and the groom had hired Gary Barlow to sing the brides favourite song. It all gave me a tear in my eyes.,it was so very exciting for the bride and all the wedding guests
Have a good day my friends you know who you are - keep safe
Good morning from the NE where it is sunny but a pleasant temperature at present.
Had a lovely meet up with my friend, lunch was sandwiches with a side salad, way too hot for a cooked meal. We then had ice cream for afters.
Friend's DH is a glass artist and was working at the glass centre, I guess it is always hot when glass blowing so the weather was immaterial.
No visitors this weekend so I can just relax, hopefully, as I am in a lot of pain.
Have a good day.
Good morning from the Essex coast.
It's slightly cooler this morning and no sun yet.
We had tremendous thunderstorms during the night, not conducive to a good night's sleep.
No plans today so will take it as it comes.
Have a good weekend, best wishes to all xx
Good morning from Suffolk where yesterday, although not in our part of the county,we had the accolade of being the hottest place in the country. After thunder and rain in the night it feels slightly cooler but still in the high 20s already.
It was DGD2’s prom at school in Bristol last night nd the end of her schooldays. Lovely photos of her in her finery.
Given the heat another quiet day at home with our usual Waitrose delivery late afternoon. Hopefully as the weather cools we can return to our usual activities next week.
Hope today is a peaceful one for all.
