Cardoon not carbon

Glorious thunderous swirling heavy rain near Bath last night. Sadly it has bashed down my hydrangea bushes which are now lying prone across the driveway. Just hope they pick up. The carbon has squashed my lovely alstroemeria but I didn’t have to water so that’s a big plus.

We had two storms in the early hours - very heavy rain, thunder and lightening here in London/Kent, and it was close.
I love it when we have rain overnight and the sun is shining the following morning.

Early evening in South Gloucestershire yesterday we had to put the light on as it got so dark!

Eventually the thunder and lightning arrived, followed by torrential rain

N Surrey. Distant constant thunder growling, torrential rain constant flashing lightning at 3.00 am.
Hot damp and muggy now.. very slightly cloudy which is shielding the sun...hopefully.

We shared Franbern’s short sharp shower round about 7.00 pm when it grew very dark, thunder rumbled and it poured for about half an hour. The garden looks fresher this morning so it must have done some good.

Sounds more like Australia than England! I think we have done a swap- it is cold here, goes down to freezing at night at the moment.

In North Somerset, it became very, very grey late afternoon yesterday. Then - in the distance - heard the first thunder. A short while later it started to rain, then as the storm grew nearer the rain battered down, actually causing flooding. Thunder and Lightening (Yes, very very frightening). I kept the patio door on my balcony open throughout (the overhang from the balcony on the next floor gives protection). Lots of water came down, lasted about then rather scary minutes before it started to move away Eastwards.

Heavy rain, lightening and tremendously loud thunder claps about 3-4 a.m.west London and I had watered. It seemed to go away and then returned.

I’m in Kew and was woken by torrential rain, thunder and lightning at around 3 am. It went on for an hour. I walked granddaughter to school this morning and it was muggy and hot.đŸ„”

The overnight rain has only just stopped in North Essex.

Cossy Tue 23-Jun-26 08:57:55

We had torrential rain in South Essex, from 3:00am to around 7:00am.

We only had a couple showers during the evening, sadly not enough to do much good.
Back in my home town of Glastonbury they had terrific storms, water running down the roads, places flooded. One house left with a hole in its roof after being hit by lightning. Trees split.

We did have thunder, lightning, and heavy rain at around 3 am. I lay in bed listening to it - lovely!

karmalady Tue 23-Jun-26 08:06:08

1.6mm in two days here, oh well better than nothing

GrannyGravy13 Tue 23-Jun-26 07:58:44

No rain for us in the east, still need to water the allotment lovely blue skies and sun coming through, looks like the makings of a nice day ahead.

Luckygirl3 Tue 23-Jun-26 07:30:11

I was sitting in a shady place in the garden yesterday when some gentle rain started .... I stayed put ... it was lovely!

NotSpaghetti Tue 23-Jun-26 00:30:41

We has none.
I think it was patchy.

After some sweltering days, there was torrential rain and thunderstorms while we were at DD’s in Oxford this evening - it was bucketing down for quite a while.

Came home to outer SW London though, and it doesn’t look as if we’ve had any here, or only a few spots. 🙁. I was hoping I wouldn’t have to be watering the garden for a few days, not to mention getting the water butts filled up.
