Harry and Meghan. UK Visit.

Just been reading about H&M’s forthcoming proposed visit to the UK with their children, pertaining to the Invictus Games which are due to take place next year.

Apparently, it’s a private visit, and accommodation has been offered to them on a ‘Royal estate’, but no mention of where or if it’s been accepted.

Security issues not revealed, plus whether or not it involves meeting up with the King.

We shall wait and see how it all evolves.

I’d very happily stay at the Castle of May! Lucky them!

If the Castle of Mey is the true lodging its only virtue is that it's as far away from London as possible. Maybe OK for a quite holiday, not for any kind of get-together family or business

There's umpteen pics of william and cathering touching esch other!!

So would I but not it isn't very convenient for travel to Birmingham which is where the Invictus Games will be held next year. I'm assuming Harry will be meeting with people who will be organising them? I'd think Windsor would probably suit quite well and has plenty of security in situ.

I hope they have a lovely time, and that Charles gets to see his grandchildren.
As for Meghan and Harry holding hands - well, good for them.
Its what I'd expect of most couples.

👏👏

Being picky Cossy but ‘Princess Catherine’ is also incorrect, as was ‘Princess Diana’.

‘Princess’ before the Christian name is only for princesses of royal blood, so Anne, Beatrice, Eugenie, Margaret, Alexandra are all ok.

So that’s why it should be Catherine, Princess of Wales, or Diana, Princess of Wales.

I stand corrected, and it’s very good to be accurate and factual. Thank you thanks

I’m sure Oreo’s reference to ‘Mummy Markle’ refers to Meghan herself, not Harry’s MIL.

As most of the time around Harry, she appears to treat him as a third child, hand in hand or hand on the back, butting in on conversations in case he says the wrong thing, leading the way on outings….

That’s it Calendargirl a wife and Mummy all in one.

Hmmmm......? Has Oprah Winfrey given Harry and Meghan her approval to visit the UK?

Then she can interview them when they return and do her stupid trademark "I'm-Oh-So-Shocked!" expression when they reel off a string of untruths about the Royal Family.

And network the interview across the media for squillions.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 21-Jun-26 17:42:36

I just hope they keep it all private and personal.
Nice for (some) of the family.

I know I’m being utterly pedantic here, but it is The Prince and Princess of Wales, or Princess Catherine, her name isn’t Kate, whatever she’s called behind closed doors.

I really don’t recall anyone called our dear late Queen, Lizzie or her younger sister Marge! It’s so rude!

Thanks Cossy you echo my own sentiments I've expressed on other threads. I can never understand why despite her stated preference to be called Catherine some people still insist on using 'Kate'. Especially when those same people never call any other members of the family other than their preferred name and studiously spell Meghan the way Meghan spells it when 'Megan' is a much more common spelling in the UK.

Strictly speaking Calendargirl is correct and 'Princess Catherine' is wrong, but in my opinion that isn't a real problem, unlike the ubiquitous use of Kate. As for the American publication I saw that spoke of 'Princess Kate" words fail me!

Really????

Bit of a heavy hint don’t you think? 🤣🤣

MarieElla Sun 21-Jun-26 16:06:44

I really don't think Meghan will come. She has a fragile ego and must be aware of how disliked she is by the British public. She will fear being booed or perhaps she's thinks that won't happen if the children are with them.

Calendargirl Sun 21-Jun-26 16:00:31

And Princess Charlotte, of course.

I dislike the way most people are so vitriolic towards Meghan Markle... remember Princess Diana was labelled a loose cannon. If you don't meet and conform to the Firm's dictate then it is impossible to fit in. They've managed to mould Princess Catherine to conform, she was much more malleable.

Nonsense. Diana was a totally inexperienced sheltered girl married just after her 20th birthday to an experienced man 12 years older. It was close to an arranged marriage of badly chosen pairing. Charles had been prevented marrying the woman he loved. Instead he was managed into marrying a virgin he barely knew. For such a young woman she did in fact make a good fist of her public royal role in many ways; in relations with the public, and her support of charities.

Kate had known William for a decade and lived with him for years before they married. She was 30, and under no delusions what Royal life would demand of them both. William and she clearly tried to sure they did NOT repeat the mistake of his parents ill-matched marriage.

Harry knew all that, from his parents and brothers experience. He'd had girls reject him because of the pressure of his position. More than anyone else, he should have taken care his own bride would be properly prepared for what royal life demanded of him and the pressure it would exert on her. Yet, he married Meghan barely two years after they met; they had never lived together as W and K had. And as she cringingly revealed to the world on Oprah, she was clueless about his country, his family, royal protocols. Neither of them were bright enough to look at the recent examples of royal brides Diana, Kate, and Camilla. That for all three, marriage had changed their lives , sometimes painfully, and all of it happened under huge public scrutiny.

Despite those three examples, Harry completely failed to prepare her. And Meghan, despite being 36, an actress, a divorcee with a failed marriage behind her, had barely had time to audition/rehearse for the role of royal wife; let alone, studied the script.

Its a terrible indictment of Harry that he repeated his fathers mistake. Rushed into marriage with the wrong woman and doesn't see any culpability.

Cossy Sun 21-Jun-26 14:14:36

I know, let’s wait and see! Let’s not second situations and make sweeping judgments about things we really don’t know everything about.

If, and when, Harry comes alone, you can all continue to slate his wife, if he comes with her, no doubt you’ll find something (or multiple things) to say about that.

In the meantime, in the real world, I’m absolutely sweltering, hope you’re all faring better thanks

Grandmaofone Sun 21-Jun-26 14:08:33

William is 44 today! where did those years go.

His nature is to be protective of his family and friends.

I cannot believe Meghan will come here.
At the eleventh hour it will be announced that Harry
is coming alone and will bunk up at St James’s Palace.

I don't think I have ever heard of any complaints coming from Catherine's direction; as far as I can see she performs her role perfectly, and if she is not happy she does not complain. She is twenty times more sensible than either Diana or Meghan, and as for Meghan Markle being naive; Per-lease!

valdali Sun 21-Jun-26 11:45:51

Cossy - it's as misogynistic as that Makersfield Reform candidate's tweets, albeit in a more refined way.
I'm sure those who survived the horrible setup regret going along with it now, but it was cruel for Diana.

Padstow13 Sun 21-Jun-26 11:40:06

I think the impending visit is a definite sign that the Americans are finally getting tired of second-rate Royals who have lost their shine.

They want the real thing. They want William and Kate.
