Good Morning Everyone,
Its a dry start to the day here in Brackley at the moment .
Yesterday going to Bicester an accident n the A43 caused a 6 mile tailback southbound ,and the bus journey to Bicester took over 90 minutes, with a rerouting .
Today hopefully hassle free bus trip.
Health wise OK apart from weight loss ,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from coastal West Sussex. It’s cloudy but bright here and less breezy than recently. I was very warm in bed last night and the room felt airless despite a window being open. I got up (probably about the time that Mick and all the other early risers are posting!) and opened both windows wide and a wonderful fresh air cooled me down. I went back to bed and fell into a deep sleep 😊.

I was very tired by the time I went to bed after watching the football. I had spent the afternoon and evening at DD1’s doing ‘heavy weeding’ and, being a little obsessive once I get going, spent nearly five hours digging up winter jasmine, which DD had cut back as it was taking over, and a very deep rooted ‘weed’ vying with the jasmine and a few other things for dominance. The soil is heavy clay and is baked by the recent dry spell so only just workable. It needs a large dose of topsoil and compost.

GrandmaC47, what a horrible experience you had with your fall. I did the same thing running for a bus years ago when I was working. It’s awful when bus drivers don’t seem to care whether they pick up passengers or not. I hope rest and TLC from your family will speed your recovery.

Marydoll, such a worrying time for you 🌹

I must go and join DH at the allotment - I have made the coffee and will take it in a flask. I don’t know that I will do much work there - I need to let my aching body recover from yesterday 😂

Hope everyone has something good in their day today.

Me too Aggie. I miss Madeleine's posts. Always so interesting and positive. I do hope she is OK but just not able to be on GNSET for some reason. And I suppose we will never know. Which is sad.

Good morning from an overcast Co Armagh
I’m very wary of falling now , having landed on the floor of the greenhouse twice ! I take my phone every where except when I have no pockets , after the last fall I stick it down my bra
The greenhouse is out of sight and sound , I was lucky I didn’t break anything , but it took ages wriggling to reach my kneeler , getting it into position and hauling my , not inconsiderable bulk into a kneeling position and standing up
First time I fell overturned the watering can and it cushioned my landing and watered my bruises
I can sympathise with our non bouncing chums
💐 for Marydoll and her OH
I miss madeline and her posts

Redcar, and others, thank you for your kind wishes!

Good morning, Michael12 and all!

I did as I said I would last night: no YouTube or reading, as my hooter and face were in a lot of pain, so I just had a mug of milk and a yoghurt before bed, but I managed to get a reasonable night's sleep, drugged up with painkillers, flat on my back with an ice pack stuck to my face! Medics said it takes about 6 weeks to heal, but if I have any more problems with it after, then to see my doctor.

Just before work this morning, I went to the local newsagent and grabbed one of these lovely choccy bars and a can of Monster Nitro!
pbs.twimg.com/media/HGLFrY8b0AAItAY?format=jpg&name=4096x4096

He also sells a few books, so I bought The Witchfinder's Sister, by Beth Underdown, as I've been fascinated by Matthew Hopkins and John Stearne for years, and have been to Essex/Manningtree quite a few times over time.

Last night, about 10, I was in a vicious battle - not with the chemist floor this time! - but one of those huge black flies, not a normal little one, but a massive thing built like an Airbus A380 and incredibly loud and buzzy. Looks like it could benchpress 4 fully loaded shipping containers and toss them a few miles! While I hate normal flies, I REALLY hate these Airbuses!

The snotmonster was flying around bionically all around my flat. I opened the door; all the blinds and windows were open, so I was hoping it would shoot out, but we all know flies are able to get IN but can't easily get out!

It actually physically buzzed my head twice, and I was hysterical! So I went to the kitchen cupboard for my trusty tin of Raid and stalked it into my office, where I just managed to spray it before it zigzagged off!

Okeydokey, see you all later!

Good morning everyone from the west midlands. A moody, sultry day here today, which rather suits my mood! Looking on the brightside, my raspberries are smashing but rarely reach the kitchen & it will soon be lunchtime.

Redcar Thu 18-Jun-26 10:32:17

Goodness C47 that was a nasty trip, I hope you’ll soon feel less battered and bruised.

theweirdo I hope you’re feeling better after your fall too!

I’m having a pub lunch with DD to celebrate my “big” birthday. It was originally to be dinner but DGS has an after school commitment and the timing didn’t work. DD2 is here at the weekend with the little ones.

My childhood birthdays almost always involved a thunderstorm. For my 8th birthday my father took us to Royal Ascot as it was on Gold Cup day, and the race was cancelled as it bucketed with rain and the course was waterlogged, we didn’t even get out of the car as the car park flooded!

Every “decade” birthday has poignant memories, and not all happy ones, but for the last one my DDs organised a surprise gathering. I asked them not to arrange anything this year, nor to invite anyone, I don’t like being centre of attention and prefer just immediate family, so I’m looking forward to this afternoon and seeing DGS after school too!

Morning from South Lanarkshire, 13 degrees and windy. I refuse to put on a jumper.

I’m sure you’ll love your cruise brook,we went from Rosyth a few years ago on a cruise to Norway and loved it. I also bought the best raincoat ever in Bergen and practically live in it all winter!I think actually it is a jacket for a Norwegian but a perfect size for a short Scot😊.
The best pancakes, jam and creamy yoghurt ever! (Scenery also good😂)

Talking of which, your puddings always sound amazing llfl especially today’s.

What a terrible fall GrandmaC47, I hope you recover soon.

Lovely hosta FGT, mine is full of holes, it’s such a shame. You’ll enjoy your granddaughter’s company so much, I had a two hour FaceTime call from my 13 year old DGD last night telling me in great detail about her week’s adventure holiday with her school in the Ardeche. I was sore laughing, she is a natural storyteller and such a joy.
She had worked really hard trying to learn conversational French on Duolingo but said that ‘it turns out that you can only say that your cat speaks Japanese and not ‘have you got a bigger size in this?’

Lovely to see your post the other dayTaichinan

Wishing everyone a good day x

Good morning from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Opera co rehearsal last night followed by a convivial drink round the corner.
I need to sort out my car insurance which has shot up enormously since last year. Just housework today.

I spoke to my sister in law in the south yesterday and my BIL in his nineties, is now on end of life care. A difficult time for her and I’m glad I saw him a few weeks ago.
Hope you recover soon C47 and thoughts to all🌺

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 18-Jun-26 09:41:04

What a horrid fall you had Grandma57 it will have shaken you up good and proper, like Gaga. Go carefully both of you and heal quickly. x

Jaxjacky Thu 18-Jun-26 09:13:20

Big ouch C47 it’s a shock too, take it easy today and the next few days.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy day here at DD's in East Northants. Warm weather expected.

This time yesterday I was in the dentist's chair having my chipped tooth fixed, which he did a a very good job with. I was pleased he could do it there and then - he also did a very good job on my purse - I came away three figures lighter!

My DS-in-law picked me up late afternoon to bring me here ready for our ladies' wine evening which was held at a friend's house nearby. The weather was kind and we sat outside all evening - good food, wine and company and all in a beautiful garden.

DD will take me home shortly, calling in at the eye clinic on the way so that I can pick up some more eye drops.

No other plans for today till early evening when I have a Waitrose delivery.

Wishing all a pleasant Thursday.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 18-Jun-26 08:43:42

Talking of tubs and plants donated by friends, I took this pic yesterday of this hosta which was in our back garden for 20 years, we dug it up and moved it to this apartment here 16 years ago (I cannot believe we moved here in July 2010) and actually said friend of the hosta helped Hinself move our stuff in on the day - Himself drove the van. 💙

The hosta loves living up here on the second floor! No slugs so no holes in the leaves from their quiet munching as you can see. I took the pic to share with the friend who gave us the cutting. He lives in Bristol now. Memories eh?

Good Morning all from a dull and cloud covered sky on the central south coast. No wind and not cold.

My 92 year old sister on the Isle of Man went to see our big brother yesterday and found him lucid and resigned. He is a philosophical chap and accepts what is happening calmly and with grace. They shared some childhood memories and she thinks that may be her last goodbye with him as she was exhausted after the visit and he is so frail. Our younger brother, who also lives on the Isle of Man cut himself off from the family some years ago and has not been see or heard from.

I am looking forward to DS and family coming to see us on Sunday and hope that my rib injury doesn't inhibit some gentle hugs! It is proving slow to ease and making movement painful and difficult.

DD is flying to Melbourne on Saturday and speaking at a conference then going to meet her old Uni friend in Hong Kong for a few days holiday on the way back. We shall hold her in our thoughts throughout.

Enjoy your Norwegian cruise Brook - sounds lovely and to anyone else on travels - have a safe journey everyone.

Kind thoughts to all with worries and struggles of any sort.

Grammaretto Thu 18-Jun-26 08:16:36

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
It's U3A annual day out - a coach trip to a Border's castle with lunch. Unfortunately the sky looks menacing so I don't know what to wear. probably the usual "uniform" with sunhat and raincoat

The chiropractor helped my back a bit yesterday but I now have a few appointments booked.

I watched a netflix film and then a football match last night 😆 and managed to make headway with my knitting.

Sorry about your long journey yesterday Mick
Hope you feel better soon. Marydoll
And you also luluaugust
Have a great trip brook
I look forward to hearing about it.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

grandMattie Thu 18-Jun-26 08:09:49

Goodness, C47! What an adventure. I hope you will start to feel less battered and bruised soon.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 18-Jun-26 08:08:16

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where the forecast courtesy of Alexa is for 24°C with white cloud and showers. Muggy then.

Last night at swimming L’il Miss’ mum & I firmed up arrangements for her sleepover tomorrow. I’m already excited as she’s never been able to stay before owing to our circumstances. Her mum said “I’ll tell her Friday morning mum as she won’t get off to sleep in the meantime otherwise!” 😁

Today I have a mani/pedi booked in at the salon over the road but first I need supplies from my huge larder - the fridge is bare. I’ll give it a wipe down inside before I go. That’ll be the extent of my domestic godessing for today.

GrandmaC47 Thu 18-Jun-26 08:04:03

Good morning from Co Durham. Not sure about the weather as I’m still in bed. Yesterday was a day of two halves. Travelled with a friend to her beauty salon in a nearby town to have a pedicure. After I was suitably polished, I walked through the town to get a bus home. As I got close to the stop I saw the bus waiting, and knowing drivers often drive away without checking for passengers, I decided to run! Bad decision, the area is cobbled and of course I tripped. Instinct made me put my arms up and I landed on my forearms and knees. Two young men dashed over and helped me up and put me on the bus and a passenger got me seated. By the time a reached the next town, where I change busses I was feeling decidedly sore and shakey. The passenger who helped then came and helped me off and across the road to catch my connection. The connecting bus then pulled in at the wrong stop and drove off before waiting for people to get to him. By this time I was feeling dreadful so managed to walk to a cafe just a short distance away. Thank goodness I carry a collapsible stick ( just in case) 😀. The ladies in the cafe were wonderful. I asked if they had the number of a taxi firm ( totally forgetting I have the Uber app on my phone). I knew I’d not be able to go by further. They got a taxi in 5 minutes and I was home 15 minutes later. On taking my trousers off I found my left knee looking like an apple was sat on it. Both my elbows had lumps on as well. I phoned DD1 ( a nurse) and she arrived within twenty minutes took a look and said Urgent Care so off we went. The service was brilliant. Waited ten minutes to be seen then wheeled off to X-ray then back to doctor. He said I must be the luckiest person he’d seen that day as nothing was broken. He was most surprised. Sent home with instructions to apply ice packs and take pain killers.
DD sorted me out then left me to the mercy of DH. Not a natural care giver. He slept in spare bed then woke me at six, because he had no clock and didn’t know the time. Of course I’d just gone into a deep sleep after a restless, pain filled night. So now I’m propped up in bed feeling so sore. Thank goodness I didn’t put my hands out when I fell, Dd says I’d probably have broken both wrists.
I really should have known better than to run at my age 🤣.
Cleaner coming today so I know the house will be ok.
Sorry for the long post, but it makes up for my normal short ones. I say my life is boring but I wasn’t looking for that sort of excitement.
Now back to read your posts. Have as good a day as possible everyone.

Good morning from a warm, grey W Kent. Off to art again this morning and an appointment with a nurse this afternoon, more sore ears. I’ve always had a problem now made much worse by hearing aids
Heard from DF who has had her foot operation and is now home.
Best wishes
