It’s so cold!

I looked to see if there was a thread asking if anyone’s put their heating on, trying to justify doing it myself. But no, everyone else is nice and warm, snug, comfortable.
It’s grey and wet here and the temperature indoors is 15. I’m so cold, despite a return to jumpers and socks and sitting under a blanket. It’s June and has no right to be cold.
Please tell me you’ve got your heat on.

The heating has been on for morning showers, also as and when if the thermostat picks up indoor temperature is below 19 degrees. As my Mum was heard to say - Flaming June.

DH brought logs in for me to light the wood burner which I did this afternoon.
I would really like some warm June weather.

I've had my heating on today.
I'm never sure if it's me, or the weather, but on it went.

HeyGirl

MT62 "I’ve just changed my bed & put back on my clean electric blanket." I took mine off weeks ago and regret it now. How do you clean yours, can you really wash them? Putting blankets on top of my quilt and warming up a wheatie bag for bedtime. Heating is off because its oil-fired, goodness knows when we'll be able to afford to buy some oil!

I put mine on a quick 30 min wash 40 degrees, lowest spin & hung out to dry, or on the maiden.
Make sure you detach the plug 👍🏻 silent night & washed the spare daewoo one too.

I feel better now, yes heating on tonight. 😃

MayBee70 Thu 11-Jun-26 23:26:39

I’ve been putting my heating on in the evening for several nights now to take the chill out of the air. It’s also too cold to get out of the bath if I don’t.

I don’t plan to put the heating on but I lit a fire for a couple of hours this evening, the dogs were still damp after their walk and I was shivery. I’ve never lit the fire in June.

We haven’t put the heating on but I am wearing winter jumpers and if sitting I have a blanket to snuggle under.
I was in 3 different community halls yesterday each one cold enough for me to keep a coat on. Absolutely fed up with this weather.

M0nica Fri 12-Jun-26 07:52:53

It haven't needed to turn the heating on, it has come on automatically.

HelterSkelter1 Fri 12-Jun-26 07:56:50

I am sitting in bed drinking tea with a jumper on. My winter dressing gown is in the laundry basket waiting for a warm day to wash and dry it. I can see a patch of blue sky.

DH has put the heating on as he said it’s cold, an unprecedented event. So it must be cold!

Mollygo Fri 12-Jun-26 10:13:22

We put the winter duvet back on last night. It’s only 10.5 tog but it’s fleecy. We were so warm we didn’t wake up till 9:15, and that was because our dog wanted to go out even in the pouring rain.
I’ll take her for a walk now, even though it’s still raining. If it’s cold when I get back, I’m going to put the heating on unless it’s come on by itself.

Jojo1950 Fri 12-Jun-26 13:49:35

Yes I definitely have.
Get yourself warm and cosy like me.

Here in Norfolk, we have had three days of intermittent hailstorms! From a previous thread "What's for supper?", last night, the oxtail stew was far more comforting than the planned salad!

justanovice Fri 12-Jun-26 13:58:54

We're still lighting the wood burner every night. It's far too cold without it.

alita Fri 12-Jun-26 14:02:01

We've got the heating on in the morning for a bit, and sometimes later in the day too. I've dug the heated throws out of their winter storage too.

hamster58 Fri 12-Jun-26 14:10:01

I feel very sad for anyone who can’t afford their heating bills, whenever it’s needed. However provided this is not the case, why do we need to justify putting the heating on? Surely it’s no different to anything we might feel better for, so if you can afford it and you’re cold, just do it..

Mollygo Fri 12-Jun-26 14:12:22

Thats typical! Winter duvet back on, as I mentioned earlier.
Weather now so warm and dry that I’ve hung my washing out! I’m not complaining about either of those things, but really. . .

Frenchgalinspain Fri 12-Jun-26 14:22:17

Oh my .. It is 15 Centigrade degrees more or less at 7am in the morning and 33 - 35 more or less after mid-day - 12 mid day.

Heating ? Air conditiioning absolutely !!

Hot as hell in the Madrid Capital.

knspol Fri 12-Jun-26 14:41:10

Have resorted to the heating for a couple of hours first thing in the mornings but trying not to use it too much as it's oil fired and the price has risen so much. Cold on an evening but ve just put on an extra sweater.

Mojack26 Fri 12-Jun-26 14:42:54

Same here in Scotland! I'm freezing, winter clothes on raining and windy outside. Wee halogen heater is on as I cannot get a heat in me! Got to take dog out soon...Winter coat going back on! Sick of seeing other countries at 27 28 31 and it's 10° here! Miserable

Janash Fri 12-Jun-26 14:43:53

Heating on? Absolutely not! We have oil heating and the price is silly for oil atm..... however, the log burner was lit last night, and I was sat under a blanket!
It's my birthday next week and I have never known my birthday to be cold. I had hoped my husband and I would take a picnic to a local canalside that we love, but I can't see that happening sad

Charleygirl5 Fri 12-Jun-26 14:45:01

UI read online we no longer need to wash duvets and other bulky items. Hanging them outdoors in sunshine (remember that yellow thing in the sky?) for a few hours, and it will apparently get rid of dust mites and freshen it up. I must do that with pillows.

I have returned, having met a friend for coffee, did a small shop and was dressed for January and I needed it.

WelshPoppy Fri 12-Jun-26 15:00:53

I haven't put it on but hubby has just come home from our caravan and I think it will be on before the end of the day.

Bazza Fri 12-Jun-26 15:21:45

And it’s the longest day on the 21st!
