It feels odd to have a kitchen without our founder.

We shall carry on as she would have wished.

Supporting each other and sharing our ups and downs 😘🥂🫖☕️🍰

Oh neine that sounds awful, it happened to us one year trying to put a large frame tent up in a gale in North Wales. I was suspended from the frame for a little while! I hope you haven’t broken anything, but perhaps it might be as well to get it checked?

Welcome teabagwoman.

I’m just back from DD1’s and a day of dog and child minding. I’ve done very little all day as the DGDs entertain themselves
now, but am still exhausted! The heating was on when I came home and it’s very pleasant to be warm as DD1’s house was cold and she had left windows open! I couldn’t shut them as they’re too high for me.

Thinking of those in the quiet corner.
Have a pleasant evening everyone - it should be a bit less cold tomorrow 🤞.

Hi everyone...popping in from a quiet site in West Wales where we are pitched up in MaeveMouse. We were supposed to be in Ireland today but looking at the sea I think I'm glad we cancelled. The wind has been really strong and it's rained horizontally. Luckily we arrived yesterday when it was dry and sunny but very gusty winds. DH asked me to help put the awning up and a big gust of wind lifted a guy rope just as I moved and I went flying. I landed very heavily on my left side ( thankfully not on my new hip on the right) but the left air bag took a huge bash and it appears so did the rib underneath so it's painful to breath, cough, sneeze etc. I thought there was no point in going to A and E as if it's broken there isn't anything they can do but the pharmacist who I mentioned it to white dropping off a prescription thinks I should go as I've been burping a lot since it happened... I'm praying it will settle down overnight.

Hello 👋 Grandmabatty, I wondered where you were! Glad you've found us in the new Kitchen. So good that you could do the 'Stay and play' with your wee boy. 💙 It's not easy for working parents.

Hello 👋 and welcome, teabagwoman, please join us in Soop's special kitchen.

I hope you enjoyed your lazy afternoon, brook, at least all that rain 🌧️ is good for the garden!

Poor boy, Grandmagravy, he'll be drookit ( soaked to the skin). Lucky you're so close to the school. Well done to the Imp!⭐

Heating on here again, second day, still cold and wet. Miserable day for our oldest neighbour's funeral. He was a gentleman, the first to come to our door, shake hands and welcome us when we moved in 40 years ago. He had a well attended, dignified service which ended with the theme from his favourite film, The Magnificent Seven.
It was my first time back at the Crematorium since DH's funeral last March, but I was with my next door neighbour and her daughter and I appreciated their company and support.

Thinking of you all, especially those with worries, illness or sorrow. Kind thoughts to all in the Quiet Corner. Hoping YiaYia and family are having a great time in the sunshine. Best wishes to all on their travels.
Wishing everyone a peaceful Thursday evening and a good night's sleep 💤 😴 ( I'm thinking of you, Cornergran, hope you andMrC. are doing well.) TOYA.🥰

I can't believe it is almost mid-June and I have switched the heating on.

It was raining and windy, I had to pick up glasses from Specsavers and the bus stop is a hike, so I treated myself to a mini cab each way.

I hope tomorrow is better because I am meeting a friend for coffee.

Saturday will supposedly be a heatwave. Anything above 13 degrees would be helpful.

Hello everybody glad your phone call wasn't more bad news Dragonfly .
Nothing to bring to kitchen we are away next week so my fridge is looking rather bare.
It's been raining all day here and it's cold has well, luckily I didn't put all my winter clothes away.

Jaxjacky Thu 11-Jun-26 19:11:15

You’re very welcome teabagwoman how lovely to see you.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 11-Jun-26 19:05:43

teabagwoman

May I join you in the kitchen? I’m rising 80, partially sighted and quite deaf so joining in with physical groups is no longer possible.

You are definitely welcome in soops
Our founder welcomed all, and was the kindest of souls.

We are following on as we know she wanted us to.

Looking forward to seeing you here 🙋‍♀️

Here you all are! I missed a new Soops kitchen starting. I have a rhubarb sponge with custard if anyone's interested. Suedonim I sympathise with the new teacher issue. It's a lottery. However things may sort themselves out.
Yesterday was a good day. I went to the nursery in the afternoon to join dgs2 at a nursery stay and play. He was so excited to see me and took me all round the nursery to play with his favourite toys. I'm glad I went because he rarely has anyone to do that. Dd simply can't get time off. To see him so happy, made me happy.
Today I was working in the school library. I encountered dgs2 and his friends who were doing yoga then watching The Gingerbread Man. I was busy tidying up. When I left, dgs2 came for a cuddle, followed by a load of wee people all wanting a cuddle too! This afternoon I have been lazy and started to watch a series called Paradise. I'm hooked and will watch more tonight. Dinner is potato croquettes with spicy chicken and beans- all out of the freezer. It's very cold here and I may have to put on the heating. Enjoy your evening kitchen folk.

Heating just came on, timer.

Ours was on when I got back from walking the dog in a rare patch of fine weather just now. It also came on yesterday morning.
I wish I hadn’t put my winter stuff away.

Bellanonna Thu 11-Jun-26 16:47:29

Put mine on manually. It’s cold and miserable.

And look forward to fgt’s Dixon…

grandMattie Thu 11-Jun-26 16:42:45

Me too, I don’t post often but generally keep an eye on you lot!

Jaxjacky Thu 11-Jun-26 16:35:27

It’s been wet, windy and cold all day, we only ventured out to the surgery, bloods for me, I'm tempted with the heating Nannytopsy. Strangely we’re due a very warm night, odd.
Nothing I hope dragonfly you’ve had your quota, pleased he is ok.
Well done to the Imp GG13.
Oven f&c for dinner, with this weather it should be stew.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 11-Jun-26 15:42:34

The 11yr old has an after school football match, it’s pouring down ☔️☔️

I can see them on the pitch from the upstairs back windows 🙀
he will be undressing in our lobby and straight into the shower.

The Imp has got a headmistresses award today, he is extremely chuffed, so are we 👏👏👏

Nannytopsy Thu 11-Jun-26 15:13:43

It’s pouring with rain again in Suffolk and cold too. We have had nearly 2” since the rains arrived. We are clearing the decks and starting to prepare food for the arrival of the family tomorrow.
I have more work to do on DGD’s bridesmaid’s dress. On my way to the sewing machine I pass the central heating controls - I think the time has come!

dragonfly46 Thu 11-Jun-26 13:46:02

Another exciting unexpected day. DH mentioned this morning that he could see black spots in front of his eyes. I rang the optician who wanted him to go there and then and be checked. After 2 hours of thorough checks he was given the all clear. Phew!

Just wondering what is going to go amiss tomorrow.

I envy you Buyer's Day at the RC LLFL I would love to go.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 10-Jun-26 22:30:06

Hello kitchen people.

A wet, sunny and windy day today. In fact a typical English summer’s day!

I did a bit of baking today - a 3-layer Austrian chocolate and coffee cake with chocolate frosting. I cooked dinner too.

I’m still recovering from our holiday! We did a lot of walking and my knees are still recovering. I have to be fit for Friday as I’m meeting younger son in London to go to Buyer’s Day at the Royal Academy. We usually spend around 2 hours walking around the exhibition. Will I buy something? Who knows.

Sleep 💤 tight.

Jaxjacky Wed 10-Jun-26 21:37:13

Take 2, my very witty and illuminating post disappeared!
As I’m still not totally confident in my hip, the podiatrist came today to cut my toenails, one of my targets to hit is doing it myself. MrJ offered, his Swiss Army knife and my blood thinners I think not!
Oh dragonfly how blooming frustrating for you both.
We’ve only had a few showers today after a very cool start to the day, our heating came on at 6:30am.
We were going to watch England ⚽️, game delayed, storms.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 10-Jun-26 21:25:45

Well at least you can sleep easy for tonight dragonfly. They weren’t chasing you with the result - they just wanted a review.
😮

dragonfly46 Wed 10-Jun-26 21:23:37

We had the mobile in hand but every time we answered it cut off. Eventually they got through to ask DH if he would like an appointment to discuss the time he spent in ICU. Still none the wiser re test results.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 10-Jun-26 21:09:48

Dixon - how could I forget you! 😁

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 10-Jun-26 21:08:45

‘Evening All’

Yoga was enjoyable this morning although Downward Dog was challenging after a 3 week absence. I’ve enjoyed a huge lamb leg steak and Jersey potatoes this afternoon then went to watch L’il Miss at her swimming lesson. It’s good to see how well she’s coming on and the extra bonus is a half hour of chat with our youngest (teacher mum) daughter pool side.

I’m thinking of dragonfly right now and Blossoming. x

SueDonim Wed 10-Jun-26 20:54:48

The school chat was a bit gloomy, unfortunately. The children were given their next year’s classes and teachers today and GD is not happy. Nor is DD, so I predict a battle. 👀

Lots of showers here, too. Even in the spells of sunshine I can’t sit in the garden because the chairs are all wet. Annoying.
