I think that her outfit, although beautifully made, was inappropriate for a divorced person of 46 and who has a child. She did look striking but the outfit was not really suitable for someone approaching middle age.

She looked lovely! Divorced, child, church or not - I wish her and her husband well.

*Menopauselbitch*. 34 years ago I was told I'd have to get a dispensation to marry in the catholic church by the priest *here in the UK,...didn't bother, married in a reg office instead.

Good to know that things have changed for the better.

Looked up who she is.
I think her dress was beautiful, very Edwardian.

I found it ever so surprising (not) that they both got ever so special dispensation from their parish priests to be able to remarry in church. One might almost think they were well connected.

The rules about divorcees not being allowed to marry in church were changed in 2002, the priest makes the decision.

It’s not the norm in the Catholic religion you have to get a special dispensation.

Lots of people get it. My mother did in the 60’s.

Good job you weren’t wearing it then. Her wedding her choice. Thought she looked lovely unlike some of the guests.

I’m in the camp that also wasn’t keen on the dress, but then I didn’t have to wear it. I also thought/think the veil over the face for a 2nd wedding is unnecessary. I always look firstly at the flowers and greenery, I loved the bouquets they were absolutely beautiful, as was the floral arch at the entrance.

There was no denying, however, how happy they both were and that’s always a joy to see. I wish them, as you do, to any just married couple, years of happiness together.

Oh, you'll be in trouble! It seems we are not allowed to say we don’t like it on here. 🤔. All I said was “it was OK” and got an ear bashing.

I think l may have gramatically married the teenage daughter to Peter Phillips, whoops.

Who is Harriet Sperling?
Pray tell.

Am l very out of touch?

I believe she's a paediatric nurse, a devout Christian, single mother with a teenage daughter who has just married Peter Phillips, Princess Anne's son.

She dared to wear white! Scandalous. His trousers were too long, what was he hiding? It rained and everyone looked joyful.

No, I meant a bowler hat.

Think that’s what it is.

Calendargirl Tue 09-Jun-26 20:51:49

But the hat was different Merlotgran

Not the usual boater one.

She (Catherine) looked gorgeous in it, whatever the colour.

I liked the boucle material.

I think she looks gorgeous whatever she wears but I do think her outfit made her look a bit like a Norland nanny.

Greciangirl Tue 09-Jun-26 19:49:56

I thought her dress was very plain and rather boring.

Hardly over the top. She looked a bit trussed up with a choking neckline. But apart from that. All good.

OldFrill Tue 09-Jun-26 18:08:24

Peter was hiding something up those trouser bottoms

Helen Sperling should have crawled up that aisle in sackcloth and ashes apologising that she dared remarry at such an advanced age, and in church!

I’m sure you’re joking Old Frill

But seriously, who needs men to censure women? We can evidently do it well enough ourselves.

Maremia Tue 09-Jun-26 16:56:22

And have the temerity to look beautiful at the same time.

Who? hmm

I can’t believe people feel they can criticise a bride’s outfit on her wedding day. White is seen as more traditional than a symbol of virginity these days and it’s nobody’s business but theirs.

LaCrepescule Tue 09-Jun-26 15:27:09

I had no idea who she was so looked her up. I’m actually wondering which planet the OP is from 😐 Please do enlighten us as to what you would have thought appropriate.
