Well said and well put Litterpicker.
An oasis of calm on GN (plus Soops) away from the febrile atmosphere of GN more recently I feel.

Hello everyone from sunny Anglesey.

We've had a couple of busy days.
We met our Anglesey friend at Anglesey Sea Zoo on Saturday. The little chap was quite intrigued by the displays of fish and lobsters. Our favourites were the sea horses and jelly fish as they seemed so other worldly.
Yesterday we spent the morning on Benllech beach before retreating from the wind to a cafe for icecream.

DH has now headed home as he's back in work tomorrow. DD is working here today and then we'll take her to the station at teatime.

The little chap has been very good and let her work while we have played on the decking. He's used to his Opa working from home some days so if we say the word 'meeting' he understands.

Sorry to read about health struggles. Not easy whether it's for yourself or for loved ones. Another vote for the comfiness of Sketchers here. Some of Pavers are ok too.

I'll try to post earlier tomorrow. In the meantime, take care of yourselves. 🌻

Good morning from a wet West Sussex. I hope there will be some breaks between the showers as the garden needs a tidy after our time in Scotland and I have some packets of seeds that might just get going if I sow them this week. That said, the house is pretty messy so I can tidy that up instead. How does it happen when we’ve only been home a few days (and we left it tidy)?

Marydoll, your mention of Empire biscuits yesterday, made me smile. I have to severely restrain myself when we are at our East Lothian flat as there is a bakery nearby and Empires are my favourite. We left with a pack of 4 and 2 strawberry tarts which are like the ones I remember from childhood with lots of red gel sauce and a delicious big strawberry.
FGT, I like the Gregg’s steak bakes! I hope your GD enjoys her lunch 😊. I did wave to you last week as we were in south Manchester for a church event and I saw signs to your area. We enjoyed a pub meal by the canal and a walk along the footpath with masses of orchids and other lovely wild flowers.

I love reading of everyone’s day to day activities so please don’t think your posts are boring just because you’re not swinging from the chandeliers most days. It is sanity in a crazy world to know that Mick is on the bus to or from Bicester and others pursuing their interests or meeting up with friends or family or just keeping home and garden as a happy place to be.

Thoughts with all those struggling with health or family challenges 💐

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thanks for another beautiful photo; it looks lovely!

Good morning, Michael12 and all!

My boss has had to rearrange my shifts again, so instead of being on today and off Friday, it's the other way around this week!

The bloke who lives in the flat below me is a bit of a creep! I moved here to Whitby in January from Appleby, and it's gorgeous around here, and all the neighbours are quiet and very nice. We say hello, morning, whatever - quick laugh and joke whenever we see each other, but we're not close, which is how I prefer it, and I think they do too.

I've learned over time that Mr Creep is 60, apparently divorced 3 times, and lives alone with his little goldfish, Tuffy. He told me he divorced wife number 1 because she refused to give him kids, not couldn't but wouldn't - good on her. He divorced number 2 because ''she was OK but quite boring''. And number 3 because ''she wouldn't do as I told her''.

The second he saw me moving in with the furniture, etc., he decided to try to invite himself in for a cuppa, but I politely refused, saying I was busy moving stuff in and had no idea where the kettle, etc., was at the time, which was true! I was literally lugging boxes up the outside metal stairs when he wanted ''a cuppa and a chat!''

He's a male stranger that I didn't know, and I'm a lone female!

Over time, he's regularly tried to invite himself in to my place, and I keep saying no. I also said no when he wanted me to meet him in a cafe, and when he told me to meet him in his flat!

He's determined; I'll give him that! Thankfully, I have one of those doorbells that has a camera that is on my phone, and there's also a microphone added in.

''Well, I'm single, you're single, why not get together?!'' He asked!

''I'm single as in never married and never would, and I wouldn't marry a bloke with such a vile attitude towards women, and you're single as in a whopping 3 ex-wives!'' I wanted to say, but didn't!

Then yesterday, about 6 pm, the bell went, I checked my phone, and he was standing there with a ring in a box, begging me to marry him!

I totally ignored him and refused to answer the door!

When I came out this morning he came over saying he means no harms, he's just lonely! I have NO intention of becomg ex-wife number 4, possibly buried under the concrete slabs! I politely but firmly told him I'm NOT interested him, will NOT go to his flat, will NOT have him at mine and I WON'T meet him anywhere, then I walked off! Hopefully I've put him off, but I'm keeping a diary of his actions, dates, times etc. ''just in case''!

It's raining here again, WEEEEEE! I'm sitting on the wall of Sainsburys carpark with the rain and wind, and it's so beautiful, and lovely fresh air!

I've finished, last night my book, The Mephisto Club by Dr. Tess Gerritsen. Oh My Cod! Don't read if you're squeamish and/or faint-hearted! Various body mutilations and graphic details of Dr Isles doing autopsies! And a woman having to ''perform'' for a fat, ugly, smelly slob to get some money! One of the greatest books I've ever read! It's got more twists and turns than a Curly Wurly bar! The killer wasn't who I originally thought!

So, today I'll do a bit of shopping for the essentials, then stay home for the rest of the day and night, binge-watching movies and stuffing my face with fish fingers and a can of Jack & Coke Cherry!

Have a good one, all of you!

Grey sky and spits and spots of rain so the washing will have to be machine dried - not what I expect in June. Flying overnight visit from DS who has an early meeting in Cheltenham and combined that with checking up on me. Very good to see him and we had a relaxed dinner and lots of chat. Gardener due later providing the rain isn’t too heavy and a demonstration at gardening club this evening, so a busy day by my standards. Other people’s’ lives seem so much more interesting than mine!

Good morning from a grey and cool NE. Heating on again this morning.
DD back home in Brussels after her working week in Canada, it was about 6am when she landed so went to bed when she got home and had a few hours sleep, she lives within easy driving distance of the airport.
GD1 is off to Greece on holiday with some university friends today, all female, her boyfriend isn't going.
GD2 still has quite a few GCSEs so is at home studying in between.
Quiet day for me, just some tidying round.
Have a good day.

ginny Mon 08-Jun-26 08:59:17

A rather late Good morning from N. Bucks. Rain has I type.
I had a restless night and am very achy due to working in the garden yesterday.
The afternoon celebrated of our friends 50th Anniversary was lovely and mostly warm enough to sit outside.
Not much on today, a bit of housework and try to sort out a diabetes check appointment . Later I ‘ll be in my workroom painting.
Wishing a good day to you all.

Kiwiqueen123 Mon 08-Jun-26 08:47:57

Good morning. Wet, dreary and cold here in Hertfordshire. One lot of washing done, no point hanging on the line so tumble dried which is annoying at this time of year. Off to drop DH at the cafe to meet his friends. Might have a look around Dunelm before pick up. I always find something I think I need! Hopefully if it clears this afternoon I'll go for a walk.

BlueSapphire Mon 08-Jun-26 08:46:51

Good morning everyone from a damp Northampton, thundery showers expected later.

The forecast rain did not arrive yesterday, so I did a bit of washing which dried beautifully. As I could not lift the washing basket (because of my cataract surgery) I took the empty basket outside,.then made 2 or 3 journeys carrying damp washing, and thence to the washing line.

DS messaged to ask if I needed anything doing, so I asked him if he would take me to Boots to buy a pair of ordinary sunglasses; my prescription ones now make me feel dizzy after my surgery. He was here within minutes and we had a pleasant time choosing some - it was good to have him there as he could tell me which pair suited me!

Today I am out to a funeral - the son of our elderly 92 yr old friend. He died suddenly and unexpectedly in his sleep last month. The service is at our village parish church, and he will be buried with his father who died a couple of years ago. He never married and had never left home, always lived with his parents. The wake is in the village pub, almost next door to the church.

An easy dinner of ham egg and chips - leftovers from the gammon I cooked yesterday.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Good morning from a sunny (for now) Cornwall. Good journey from Berkshire yesterday with DD and sister from London.

Our air b&b is spacious and bright and last night we enjoyed a nice meal in Penzance. I had scampi. It was chilly and we wrapped up.

My sister is very entertaining and I had pain from laughing so much at stories from our past growing up etc.

Today to St. Michael’s Mount and Mousehole.
My DD has never been to Cornwall before, my sister many times and I have had one visit to Newquay ages ago. but it was a singing job, soloist with a choir and it’s not the same when working.
Thoughts to all.

Morning Mick, morning All from a soggy corner of Somerset. There are more puddles than road outside

Back via both sons’ homes from an enjoyable few days with friends where we were thoroughly spoiled it’s a quiet sorting out day today. Too tired to faff when we got back.

Nothing much in the calendar this week, the weather seems set to rain so I’ll read but probably not post for a few days as there will be nothing to say!

Best wishes to all, have the best day you can.

Gelisajams Mon 08-Jun-26 08:20:22

Good morning all from a damp Morecambe Bay where more rain is promised. A noisy day is in store, the houses next door but one on both sides are having big extensions and the deliveries, clattering and shouting has started already.
It’s my eldest GD’s birthday today. I was hoping that she would be born on my late mother’s birthday but she missed it by a day. That was 24 years ago. On the day she arrived in the world DH was in Scotland on an adventure holiday with a party of schoolchildren. He was due home that evening so he had barely put his foot through the door when we set off 100 miles down the motorway for a cuddle. We then headed back home!
I do wish I still had that energy!
We were supposed to be setting off this morning on a road trip in our little camper van, heading down the east coast and eventually touring Norfolk. As we have been so busy we have nothing booked. Instead we are having a rest day , get it organised and maybe head off tomorrow. The last few weeks have been hectic and we are both exhausted!
I empathise with the family worries Ash We seem to lurch from one crisis to the next with DS3. He’s been a concern from before he was born and has been a constant source of worries ever since!
Thinking of all with troubles. Take care🌸

Marydoll Mon 08-Jun-26 08:13:40

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 11°C. At least it is dry.

Gaga, your poor DH has been through to much. ♥️

As predicted, Silverburn was not a pleasant experience. I have never seen it so busy and noisy. I guess, I am just a grumpy old woman!
I had a slightly surreal experience in Zara. I had never done a Click and Collect there. Faced with a touch screen on a wall, nothing else. I was asked to scan the bar code, I had been emailed, in order to retrieve my parcel.
As a back up, I had made a paper copy, because I am struggling to use my phone at the moment due to my arthritic hands.
Taking the sheet of paper from my bag, I heard a thud, looked up and saw the glass screen on the wall opening up. There was my parcel.
I was stunned, for I hadn't even got round to scanning the code. It took less than a minute to retrieve it. 🤔

We had a lovely visit with Babydoll yesterday. She was so happy to see us and adamant that I climb up into her treehouse, I couldn't even get up the first step. 🤣

I wan't feeling great, when I got home. I couldn't stop shivering, I felt so awful, I thought perhaps my patch had come off, but it was still there. I still feel a bit odd today.
I fell asleep in the conservatory, I could have been dead for all DH knew!
Yesterday, he seemed to revert back to his previous odd behaviour, he was extremely difficult.

This morning, I need to oversee the money counting, due to both priests being away.
The P.P sent me a video of the wedding, he was officiating at in Rome.
The happy couple drove from the church, beside the Forum, and then drove round the Coloseum in a vintage, open top car.
The groom and his family were all wearing kilts. What a sight to behold.
The Italian side of the family looked very bemused. 🤣

I wish you all a pleasant day and best wishes to all, who are struggling.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 08-Jun-26 08:10:12

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s wet out. We had torrential rain during the night it woke me up. I just took this photo of the decking outside my front door facing east. The watery sun is just up as you can see.

I have L’il Miss with me (her school has an inset day) until 4pm when her dad will come to pick her up. We discussed lunch venues earlier. I suggested the Loungers bar below or the Italian restaurant round the corner but she asked “can I have Greggs?” 😁 she loves the chicken tenders and potato wedges!

Jaxjacky Mon 08-Jun-26 08:07:22

Morning from a cloudy and damp S Hants.
Yesterday was dry and I had my car valeted, it looks like new even at six years old.
My hip was griping, so just a short walk. Today voluntary phone am, pm a friend is here for coffee and cake as it’s her birthday.
Joint the club GG13 I have to see a rheumatologist in a couple of weeks for a decision on my osteoporosis treatment.
Have a pleasant day all.

Georgesgran Mon 08-Jun-26 07:59:13

Good morning from Durham. Another dull day in store, but the chance of seeing the sun later. Recently, I’m really struggling to get to sleep - 3.45 today, but then I sleep soundly.
DGS2’s party went well, but such a lot of food left over and thrown away. That’s annoying, but thankfully, only once a year. I think my help was appreciated.
I’m taking little dog home tonight, so we’ll get all the other bits from yesterday sorted.
I’m meeting my friend for coffee this morning, then I have a list of phone calls to make. Last time I hung on for 27 minutes to be answered by the Council Tax office and now have to call back, as the issues can’t be dealt with online.

Best wishes to all. X

RosesandLilac Mon 08-Jun-26 07:53:08

Good morning, it’s raining here on the hillside in south Glos 🙄
Housework today, I need to look for my magnifying glass with a light, goodness knows where it is, I haven’t seen it for several years! I may even have given it away….
It’s supposed to be brighter later so I hope I can hang the washing out.
The roses need deadheading, they’ve been badly battered by the wind and rain, so I will potter around in the garden later.
Wishing you a good day 🌹

EkwaNimitee Mon 08-Jun-26 07:51:15

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle. It started off grey and gloomy at dawn but now appears to be trying to brighten up as I can see blue patches.
I went for an early walk yesterday. At first I thought I was the only person on the planet, the park was completely empty of humans. Finally a very few dog walkers appeared, maybe folk have given up on summer and having lie-ins...
I was out in the garden later in spite of the wind, which I dislike. Deadheading, clipping and lopping were the order of the day, just about everything is burgeoning madly.

Today is the turn of the downstairs floors...vacuuming and mopping and then admin to attend to. Car insurance time has arrived. It has gone up a little so research is needed and for my gas too as the prices are due to go up so I need to consider changing tariffs. All very tedious and boring.
Tesco are due at lunchtime, the rest of the day is unplanned so I'll see what I fancy doing.

Have a good day everyone if you can.

luluaugust Mon 08-Jun-26 07:42:45

Good morning from a damp W Kent.
A drive this morning to visit a friend who has broken her wrist. She was my next door neighbour for many years, starting 56 years ago, DH has decided to come as well, so a busy day for us
Best wishes

Gingster Mon 08-Jun-26 07:41:27

Good morning all from a very wet Suffolk coast.
Yesterday was pleasant with no rain but still a blustery breeze.

I slept fitfully as I ache all over. Couldn’t think why?
Then I remembered. I tripped up my dressing gown on our very steep stairs with two cups of hot tea. I scraped my shin and jolted my whole body, tea went everywhere but thankfully missed little pooch, who had dived up the stairs before me.

Iv e taken two paracetamols and hopefully will ease up!

This afternoon we’ll watch the first tennis at Queens. We both enjoy the tennis season. DS2 is a great player and at the great age of 51 is still his clubs no.1 seed . He plays in the over 35’s and now over 50’s.
We wanted him to get into it professionally as a child but he was more interested in football , golf and gymnastics. A good natural all rounder, like his dad. ❤️.

Today I’ll get the Estate Agent round to have a chat and let him know about the various surveyors, electricians and other odd bods who have been cavorting around our cottage in our absence. They haven’t been very respectful. 😤. I will insist they are with ‘whoever’when they come.. we pay them enough !

GG sorry to hear of your Osteoporosis diagnosis. Let’s hope they can find something that suits you.🙏. We must get together with Sar for a coffee/lunch soon and put the ‘world to rights’.
I’m meeting Liberty on Thursday too. Lovely to meet up with grans.

Take care all and try to keep dry.☔️

Sar53 Mon 08-Jun-26 07:39:28

Good morning from Kent. I'll be on my home later this morning.
I've had a lovely weekend with DD2 and family.
Her and I spent yesterday afternoon at a swimming gala at DGD5's club.
Proud Grandma moment, she came home with 7 medals 🏅. It was long and very hot but a good afternoon was had by all.
We came home, had a takeaway and a few glasses of wine, the perfect end to a lovely day.
Take care everyone, best wishes to all xx

Marzipan22 Mon 08-Jun-26 07:34:23

Good morning from Cornwall with rain forecast this morning, clearing later. As I want to work in my wild wood I'll leave that till this afternoon and have a walk on a beach first.

A wonderful visit to my daughter-in-law's new home yesterday. As I suspected she's made it look gorgeous with her collectibles and vintage dolls' houses. She wrestled with her new all-gas cooker to produce a lovely roast. We talked about Toy Story in great detail around the table. She graduated in animation and it's my grandson's future college course and we all love the films. The three of us are planning to go to the launch of the next one followed by a meal in Wetherspoons. We know how to live! 😂😂

On my bus journey home I met a woman of my age who I discovered had, like me, ridden a motorbike for years so we raved about them. 😆

Gagagran Mon 08-Jun-26 07:32:18

Good Morning all from a still damp central south coast. More rain promised for today too. Hey Ho!

Just had a worrying message from my Manx niece to say her Dad is back is hospital with sepsis. My poor brother has really been going through the mill and still is, it seems. She will keep me posted.

I am still sneezing but my gastric issue has calmed down so hoping for a better day with some gentle eating introduced.

Had a long chat with DD yesterday catching up on things. Her DS (our only DGS) is now home from university as his term has finished. He goes back for his third and final year in September and is now looking for vacation work to build up his funds.

Safe travels to anyone on the move today and hope all of us in the sick bay continue to improve. May those with worries and troubles of any kind find some ease.

Susan56 Mon 08-Jun-26 07:32:14

Good morning from Shropshire.A dry day forecast.

A busy day yesterday.DH worked hard in the garden and I did lots in the house trying to get ahead with things as we have a busy few weeks ahead.

Today we are off to Staffordshire to collect DGS1 from school.

Thinking of all with worries about family members 💐

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌷
