A Lazy Day.

Well, I was up at 7.30 but - I am now back in bed with my Kindle, and a mug of tea.
It was cold, windy and raining when I went down to the kitchen first thing. Not a good day to be out and about.
I've no plans today, which is lovely, and nothing urgent on my ' to do ' list.
Oh there are a million and one things I could be doing around the house, but today, I have decided to be completely self-indulgent and lazy. One of the joys of being retired.
Mr G is downstairs watching the cricket highlights on tv. I have music upstairs, a brew, a story and music playing in the background.
I always have a bit of nagging guilt if I laze about in any way. I tell myself I could be achieving so much more. But today, I don't care. The wind is howling outside and it's still raining. It's a luxury to be warm in bed, reading. I might watch an old film on tv this afternoon.

Isn't it nice to have days when we just please ourselves, do as little as we want?

Do you deliberately plan and enjoy a lazy day, or does the old puritan work ethic, (or boredom) kick in and guilt you out of doing nothing much?

I hope your DH is playing at des Ormes V3ra. It's a great course, can recommend.

No, they're heading down to St Jean de Monts tomorrow.
They haven't played that course so it's one to look at another time, thank you.

Frankie
Tommy
Bengie. 😉😁
That’s my short list…

Just tried these out on Alfie dog to see which he preferred, but as he is rather deaf and 14 years old he was rather confused.

I like Tommy, I find it easier to say in a calling-out-loud way 🙂

He’s a Patterdale border cross…..

I’d call him Trevor 🐾🐾

Sorry. 😆

Allira would appreciate the joke.

He looks distinguished like a 'Rafe' !!!

Congrats on the new pup, Shinamae! I had to look up the breed because I'm not familiar with them; looks like he will be a sturdy little one! Very sweet.

For me today: leisurely wake up, yoga, check on son and DIL's cat while they are away, then groceries. After lunch I spend time here, will be a walk and then hopefully some knitting in the yard if the sun stays out, otherwise indoors. Maybe a bit of baking to get ready for daughter and 2 grandson's visit next weekend.

cheers all!

Not a lazy day for me, I was up at 5.00am making bread and prepping for our lunch guests.

I ended up having to clean all the silver cutlery it was badly tarnished and looked grubby, I had cooked the ham yesterday but still had lots of salads, dressings and a pudding to make.

We had a a lovely day lots of reminiscing it was worth the effort and my lovely husband was so grateful as always for the work.

I am now in bed having a scroll through Gransnet to see what I have missed.

Shinamae Our Patterdale was called Nell, I have a friend who had one called Tatty, looking at the cute picture I have come up with Beano or Bundle.
He is a sweetie.

Wyllow3 Sat 06-Jun-26 22:59:16

I quite like Ben. He is a "bundle" atm, but when big?

Bellanonna Sat 06-Jun-26 23:13:55

Or Barney

The name has been decided and it’s Duke…. (grandson’s idea) but thank you for your suggestions….🤗
And he has just fallen into the pond, Didn’t take him long…😂

rafichagran Sun 07-Jun-26 17:49:48

Lovely name.

SueDonim Sun 07-Jun-26 17:56:23

Fallen in the pond! How un-duke like. 🤣. Have fun with the pup. X

I thought this was a thread on lazy days, but it has been turned into a thread about a dog. I apologise to Gracey and retire

Lallylou Mon 08-Jun-26 13:39:44

Yes, I always feel that I should have a lot to show for the day! Mostly never pleased with that either. Enjoy your brew and the music.

Jojo1950 Mon 08-Jun-26 13:51:55

Enjoy💐

Lazy day for me had a shower, watered and cut down a houseplant and wiped down the screen.
Procrastinating about washing my floors. It's raining, I don't feel like going out and I am spending too much time on Gransnet.

I was planning on a lazy day but it turned into a productive morning. Physio exercises, showered, then did the free postcode lottery quizes for their prize draw (wordsearch and quiz), Scrabble app wordsearch, sorted rubbish and recycling. All before going for toast and coffee at the flats where I live. Back to boil eggs early for lunch sandwiches. After lunch I sat down to watch my 2 episodes a day of Doctors on U and fell asleep!

He’s gorgeous!

Ali61 Mon 08-Jun-26 16:10:07

I'm having a lovely lazy day today - we've just come back from a week on Lake Garda and although it was lovely, I am absolutely exhausted! Yesterday I unpacked and did the washing, called my Mum and daughter to catch up and out daughter in law came for dinner which was lovely as we hadn't seen her for ages!

Today I'm doing nothing but recharge my batteries. It's lovely to go away but really lovely to come home. Especially when you don't have to go back to work! 😊

Not much time for testing for you then.

Having worked my way through all Lucinda Riley's "Seven Sisters" series and now almost finished Beryl Darby's "Yannis" series, can anyone please suggest what I might enjoy next?

Koratlady3 Mon 08-Jun-26 16:58:55
