Good morning from a (cool) breezy and wet West Sussex coast.
We arrived home yesterday evening. We left Scotland on Friday for an event in Manchester on Saturday and then had a lovely couple of nights with a friend in Wirral.

Today I am catching up with washing, clearing the campervan and finishing a library book which was due back on Saturday and has been requested by another reader 🫢

If the rain stops I will go with DH to the allotment to see if potatoes, beans and mange tout have survived our absence. Beans and mange tout will be re-sown if necessary. I will be cutting down the wonderful echium, Marzipan - that’s a good idea to save the stalk to use as a post.

Melanie61, I too have had metronidazole recently for a post-extraction infection. I felt so ill - nausea, diarrhoea, palpitations - that I gave up after 3 days. I hope you can get an alternative.

Ashcombe, you deserve an award for successfully negotiating that ferry journey on your own 🏅.

Bluesapphire, I’m glad your character surgery went well.

WhiteSwan63, I hope your Gs is better and has a good afternoon with you. He and his parents are lucky to have your support in caring for him.

Marydoll, shame about the dresses 😢 but, as you say, someone will be happy to find them. I hope your day is restful and restorative.

Grammaretto, good luck with the house viewings.

Gagagran, I hope your choir rehearsal goes well. What a hard decision you have to make about future attendance - I was in a choir for a while and miss it a lot. Our trips to see DD2 and family make regular attendance at rehearsals difficult now.

FGT, lovely photo of the street and trees 😍

Hollysteers, I loved your flower painting (posted yesterday).

Thank you Michael12 and everyone for your always interesting posts 🥰

A very late 'Good morning' from a really wet North Leicestershire. I'm sitting on our 'glass corridor' enjoying being warm and dry while watching the rain on the roof and on those all around.

Today, our cleaner is here doing diwnstairs so I am upstairs doing admin.

Have the best day possible everyone.

That is shocking. I am losing faith in the "revered" NHS. Parts of it are shockingly poor. I was saddened to read yesterday of a young female student who died in hospital from an undiagnosed till too late twisted gut and was ignored for part of the time by nurses who were gathered round watching women's football.

How can that young woman's family ever forgive that.

Marydoll Wed 03-Jun-26 10:03:03

I had a serious reaction to Metranizodole in the past, I had a yellow allergy bracelet on, when I had my surgery.
The staff didn't check and put it in my drip in theatre.
All hell let loise, when they realised.
I hope you have some relief today, * Melanie*.🤢

HelterSkelter1 Wed 03-Jun-26 09:48:01

Metronidazole is the worst antiB I have ever had. GP told me def not to drink alcohol. I had a tooth infection. She said if you feel bad now you will feel 200 x worse after alcohol.

I had the tooth extracted thank goodness. But the antiB was awful. And a strange effect was my saliva changed from normal runny to loads of it and stringy!
But it does clear the infection.
Hopefully I wont need it ever again.

Good morning from a damp northwest coast.
The usual music club yesterday and I went earlier than usual to go through the tea, coffee and biscuits set up, which I don’t usually do. There will be absences in the coming weeks. The kitchen frightens me more than singing solos and hosting😁 It went well, although a small turnout.

I spent the morning on the phone to my pharmacy and surgery to ensure my medication is up to date for my trip away at the end of the week.

In the evening a FaceTime with DD in the south re our solicitor and a hefty bill, in the midst of which I heard a bang from the oven.
I had put it on to preheat, forgetting that I had put items in it for storage, not using it very often, a stupid thing to do. Not too much damage, but a packet of cat biscuits had exploded.
Domesticity is not one of my gifts…

Tonight to the opera co rehearsal after a break last week.
Glad you are home safe and sound Ashcombe your op is over Bluesapphire, you feel better today Melanie and thoughts to all🌺

Grammaretto Wed 03-Jun-26 09:24:04

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's been raining a lot but currently dry
My garden girl will cut the grass while I'm at yarn group this am. This afternoon is a second dentist appointment. She's fitting a new cap . This evening I've been invited to a concert and a fish supper. My df's DD is singing. She's expecting a baby any minute so I hope it's wise.

I embarked on some cleaning yesterday but my vacuum cleaner wasn't keen so I ended up borrowing one from our community shop. I only managed half a room before I expired.

I have house viewings lined up for later this week.

Goodness Ash that was quite a voyage. Glad you are safely home.
Take care brook today. Safe travels.

Have a good day everyone.

Melanie61 Wed 03-Jun-26 09:22:14

Marydoll, sorry to hear you too have toothache. Hope you can get that resolved soon too.

Melanie61 Wed 03-Jun-26 09:20:41

Marydoll, it was indeed Metronidazole. I was really worried in the night I felt so strange, and the pains in my head were horrible. It seems to have nearly worked its way out of my system a bit now. The dentist has just rung. I have to go and see him at 11

HelterSkelter1 Wed 03-Jun-26 08:52:31

Good Morning from a cool N Surrey.

BlueSapphire. Good to read your post. I have the pre op appt for first cataract on Friday. My vision is very poor and misty. I have glaucoma as well and they will put a tiny stent in my eye at the end of the op to help keep the eye pressure down. Not looking forward to that but it only takes an extra 5 minutes they say and needs some extra anaesthesia round the eye.

Your result sounds great.

Good morning everybody from Málaga where we have a forecast of ‘only’ 30°C thank goodness! Yesterday was hot with the teral breeze it was most uncomfortable.

I’ve decided to go to the beach at the marina again because I love it. Last night I thought no it’s too hot but this morning’s forecast has me changing my mind.

Lunch will have to be a salad as I’m meeting the couple (Glaswegian) neighbours in this block, for dinner at 8pm.

I took this photo yesterday on my walk up into Arroyo to meet my LWW friends. Aren’t jacaranda trees just so pretty?

Right time to drink my TIB and read all your posts. I miss Pantsglas who disappeared without warning and Madeleine - always a concern when posters don’t reappear after c couple of weeks.

harrigran Wed 03-Jun-26 08:35:14

Good morning from an overcast NE with a forecast for rain.
Yesterday was mostly dry but I could hear thunder in the distance during the afternoon.
Sister and BIL are going to visit this afternoon and they will take me shopping.
Have a good day.

WhiteSwan63 Wed 03-Jun-26 08:27:17

Good morning from the east coast we have rain forecast this afternoon.

My son messaged last night to say DGS was picked up from school early as they think he’d been sick so could he bring him at lunchtime. It will be a long afternoon as my car is in the garage today so we are at home. I daren’t take him out walking or to the shops on my own as I’m scared he’ll run into the road and he’s strong and I couldn’t chase him.
Pity it’s going to rain.

Yesterday was a stressful day with my uncle it’s too much of a story to go into but he has his new hospital bed and I think he’ll pretty much stay in it today.

Dragonfly I am a worrier like you which keeps me awake at night. It’s usually about my GS and DS but now uncle is added into the mix. 💐
Last night I was so exhausted from the day I was in bed before 9pm but by brain couldn’t stop stressing.

Marydoll I hope you feel better after a rest today. 💐
I need to have a good cull of my wardrobe to the charity shop but I always think I might wear it or if I lose weight it might fit me one day🤦 I need to get a grip.

Wishing you all a lovely day if possible 🌼

Grandmabatty Wed 03-Jun-26 08:23:49

BlueSapphire I am sorry tgat I forgot about your cataract surgery yesterday and I'm glad it went well. Avoid bending over and lifting stuff!
Susan fingers crossed for a drama free day for dgs2. However, that's his other grandparents job today, not mine!

Georgesgran Wed 03-Jun-26 08:21:04

Good Morning from Durham. It’s very still and overcast here, with a chance of rain later. There was a clap or two of thunder yesterday, but nothing came of it - I’m not a fan of rain. Other than walking the dog later, I was at home all day and got some much needed cleaning done.
I’m meeting a friend for coffee at 10, then back home to more cleaning, while I’m in the mood! DD2 is home from Majorca this afternoon and I need to take Little Dog back tonight after his walk. I don’t want him here tomorrow.
You have my sympathy Melanie

Best wishes to all. X

grandMattie Wed 03-Jun-26 08:19:54

My helpers are wonderful, gaga, thanks. Really good preparation is the key!

EkwaNimitee Wed 03-Jun-26 08:11:19

Good morning Mick and everyone from gloomy and cloudy Carlisle. It will rain, no doubt.
I went into the city to post a parcel and collect my new glasses.
They were 5 minutes behind my appointment time seeing me and I got back to my car 5 minutes after the ticket ran out....to see the wardens approaching it! I've never seen them about before..."Please, guys! only 5 minutes" I say but they were noncommittal so I await events.

Today the ironing and a bit of bathroom and kitchen cleaning, a walk if it doesn't rain.

Grandmabatty I have been plagued by slugs, I can't bear the sight of them. Nothing has worked so recently I resorted to the 'natural' remedy of a beer trap having been cynical about its effectiveness in the past. I put down a dish of the best lager and was amazed by the results...a dish full of dead, drunk slugs big and small. A stomach churning sight but sometimes you have to get your big girl's pants on! I'm keeping this up throughout the summer and cheap beer/lager will do.

Do have a good day everyone!

BlueSapphire Wed 03-Jun-26 08:10:43

Good morning everyone from a brightish Northampton, showers expected later today. We had a short but torrential thunderstorm yesterday afternoon.

My cataract surgery went well yesterday, a lot of waiting around, but the actual surgery was very quick and painfree, though slightly uncomfortable. I had to wear an eye shield yesterday and overnight, and could remove it this morning, which I have done, and started on my regime of eye drops.

I could do no reading at all yesterday, so mostly listened to the radio; I could just about manage tv and watched two films. DD was a great help ferrying me to and from the clinic and keeping me company, but I sent her home in the afternoon as I felt fine.

I have had no pain or.discomfort in my eye at all, and now I have removed the eye shield I am able to use my usual glasses for reading.. My distance vision is much better and colours are so much brighter looked at through the treated eye. I am due to have the other one.done in about 6 weeks.

Shall spend today quietly at home, but expecting a visit from DS. And frequently reminding myself not to touch my eye!

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Marydoll Wed 03-Jun-26 07:56:29

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it 12°C and raining.

Melanie, how awful for you. It wasn't Metronidazole/Flagyl was it? Dentist seem to like it!
I spent an extra two days in hospital sfter being mistakenly ( I'm allergic) given it after surgery.
I too have toothache. I can see a small patch on my gum, which is very painful.

Dragonfly,♥️

I have coughed al, night and had little sleep, so I do not feel great today. In fact I pretty rough.
Prescriptions need collected, and dispensed, that will be my day, apart from finishing and sorting the pile of dresses for the charity shop. I have too many!
I was disappointed to find that two, beautiful dresses were far two small across the bust. They wouldn't even close! 😪
Someone will benefit from wearing them.*.

Wishing you all a pleasant day, whatever your plans.

Jaxjacky Wed 03-Jun-26 07:54:08

Morning from a dull, showery S Hants, we had storms yesterday, lots of rain.
I hope another antibiotic helps Melanie.
Safe journey * brook*
I have a dental check up today, it’ll be gloomy, I have lousy teeth and my dentist is retiring.
MrJ may play bowls later.
Have a good day all.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 03-Jun-26 07:48:31

Good morning from York, we seem to have been missed by the rain. Had a few drops yesterday morning, nothing else, we were outside all day.

Today we are going on a boat trip on the river Ouse.

Thoroughly enjoying York, and its history.

Have a good day 🙋‍♀️

Redcar Wed 03-Jun-26 07:48:20

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where it’s bright and dry at the moment. Showers are forecast again. We had a wet morning yesterday but the afternoon was dry and sunny. I had a doctors appointment in the morning and now have to take tablets to help my swollen feet and ankles.. I visited my friend with dementia in the afternoon.

I’m determined to do all my exercises today, go for a walk and tidy some admin. The spirit is willing, not sure about the body!

greyduster look after your back and hip!

melanie I hope you can get some different antibiotics and that your tooth settles down until your next appointment.

ash, certainly an eventful crossing for you, how kind of the catering staff on the ferry to look after you, shame about the cabin!

brook I hope you have a trouble free journey home after your holiday.

Hoping that those in distress or difficulties have a better day today.

Have as good a day as is possible folks.

cornergran Wed 03-Jun-26 07:46:27

Morning Mick, morning All from a gloomy corner of Somerset.

It does look like rain, guaranteed as the car was valeted inside and out yesterday. A quiet one at home today. Two poorly neighbours to check on at some point, emails to catch up with, a lot of pottering for me and a jigsaw of a Venice scene for Mr C to fight with. The day will go quickly enough.

That was quite a journey ashcombe, pleased you’re home safe.

Safe travels brook and all on the move.

Wishing you all well. Have the best day you can everyone.

Susan56 Wed 03-Jun-26 07:46:19

Good morning from Shropshire where it is a very dull start to the day.

I had a lovely few hours with my friend yesterday.I hope you feel better after your meet up with friends dragonfly.I am very anxious at the moment but realised this morning that I had had a much better evening and nights sleep after such a good afternoon with a good friend.

Today we are going to see mum. When I phoned yesterday they said she has had a few good days so fingers crossed. It will be a long day as a long drive and then we will collect DGD to take her for something to eat and then to her dance classes.
