After the sun, the rain
After the rain . . . The thunder and lightning, right over head. ⚡️⚡️woke us all 🐾🐾up at 06.50.
What’s the weather like near you?

My part of London desperately needs rain. Even when some had rain a week ago I was obviously at the edge of the raincloud because two streets away they got some, me? not a drop! It's forecast for next week but I shan't hold my breath.

grandMattie Fri 29-May-26 13:57:23

Rain? What rain?

In my part of north Bristol, we had one solitary clap of thunder miles away, then rain for no more than 5 seconds! It would be nice to have some rain.

I wish you could edit. I hadn't finished my message and it went! About time they sorted it out. I kept getting that spinning wheel and the next thing I knew it had gone and I hadn't sent it.

Vintageclassics- OMG, and i though we get bad hailstones! 😟

Peaseblossom Fri 29-May-26 13:47:45

No rain here in Berkshire. I wish it was I'm fed up with watering the garden and it's still as dry as a deserting

sandye Fri 29-May-26 13:47:34

Up north have had a couple of hot days, now it's very windy and a lot cooler so I think we have had summer now here. I love hot weather but the sub dosn't like me

We had a giant hailstorm in Wiltshire - it's broken 2 window panes, punched holes in my bin storage units, and dented lots of cars (1 neighbour has already had his written off) - we are waiting on what out insurer says for our 71 reg Evoque which has dents in every panel - my planters and garden are decimated (looks like the aftermath of a tornado) and the cat is very clingy having been out in it until he was called in at 2 am. Neighbours are all in a similar position many have damage to conservatories & greenhouses - it was very localised to our immediate area (one lady across our road only took delivery of her new car the previous day - it's full of dents! The thunder & lightening was very dramatic and the hail biblical!

Nannan2 Fri 29-May-26 13:43:15

Today, cool and sunny. Great for walking the dog early. The BBC offered rain around 11am, and the clouds are certainly gathering.

BlueBelle Thu 28-May-26 16:11:27

Suffolk Still hot and sunny and beautiful
No storms

JamesandJon33 Thu 28-May-26 16:09:57

Thunder storm last evening but a quiet night. Warm today with a slight breeze. We are in S W Wales.

NonnaW Thu 28-May-26 13:24:58

Here in Cambridgeshire we had a spectacular storm on Tuesday night at about 9.30pm. Cooler yesterday, also this morning (needed a sweatshirt this morning at 6.30 for dog walk), but temperature rising again. We has a very short light shower this morning.

Luckygirl3 Thu 28-May-26 13:14:23

No rain forecast for today, but there has just been a snap light shower. I am so hoping that is it as I am supposed to be going to sit by the river with my DD later - fingers crossed!

Fallingstar Thu 28-May-26 12:48:03

Still sizzling in London, a bit more cloud but no rain for another couple of days.

TerriBull Thu 28-May-26 12:41:25

I'm Surrey/Sussex borders forgot to mention that.

TerriBull Thu 28-May-26 12:36:30

Still sunny, a bit cooler. GD is with us for a few days, so we're taking off to a cafe on the coast, half an hour away, so I hope the weather doesn't break. It can do that tomorrow, apparently I have to take her to see the Michael Jackson biopic at The Everyman. It seems a younger generation have discovered him shock

Cossy Thu 28-May-26 12:20:31

Here in Essex no thunder, though we were told there would be!!

Sunny, but not stifling hot and lovely see breeze, though not as lovely as yesterday

watermeadow Thu 28-May-26 12:16:43

We had a cold dry April and first half of May but no rain for the past 10 days and, of course, a week’s heatwave.
We rarely get thunderstorms here. There can be violent storms and deluges of rain close by but they miss our town. Long ago many settlements on our downland were abandoned because of a lack of water.
So, no rain last night and none forecast for another week.

25Avalon Thu 28-May-26 12:09:27

Loud thunder crack and torrential rain with hail stones near Bath early on Tuesday night. Getting in from the garden both the dog and I got absolutely soaked. I had to change my clothes.

TheWeirdoAgain60 Thu 28-May-26 09:36:54

As I left work about 4 yesterday, the clouds were really thick and dark, and it was still humid. About 10 past midnight, I saw faint lightning from miles away, then it rained during the night.

I left home for work about 7 this morning, and it was pouring down! Still a bit humid, but the rain is gorgeous!

blue14 Thu 28-May-26 09:36:05

Hot, dry and dusty with no sign of rain although for the past few days possible thunder storms have been forecast in the south east!

The much needed rain would certainly freshen the atmosphere up around here.

Charleygirl5 Thu 28-May-26 09:25:06

No sign of threatened storms and T to rise to early 30's again. London.

JaneJudge Thu 28-May-26 09:21:53

we had a massive storm for most the morning yesterday, temperature dropped and then BOOM absolutely boiling again!
