Here you are new people😊

Let us know a bit about yourselves and I’m sure you will get replies.

I’m an oldie - been on GN since 2011 - I was 65 at the time now 80 😮😮😮. I’m one of the ones who have fierce arguments about politics etc, but I also love gardening, nature in all its glory, reading, food and art history and history. Not necessarily in that order😄.

I think that many on GN have made very close friends on this site, which they seem to value very much.

I am in awe at some of the creativity I see.

Welcome and make yourselves known

I'm another who joined in lockdown and am currently also on Mumsnet. I much prefer the kindness, wisdom and warmth of Gransnet and may come off Mumsnet - again!

I do occasionally post but love just reading many of our threads. So lovely to see the posts of regulars who I value greatly.

I'm not a gran - my son is gay and has been with his lovely DP for 33 years. They got married recently and have no wish to have children.

Hi and welcome to those new posters/lurkers and those who post very occasional. How lovely WWM2 is this thread 👍.
I joined in 2020, lockdown, asking for kitchen advice, here I am.
Don’t worry about posting what you think is mundane or boring, I do it all the time, GN is not just for drama, but is a good place for help and general information.

Frenchgalinspain - I lived in Madrid many years ago. I loved the life and especially the area where we lived as we were known as 'the English girls' and it felt very safe.

The centre was always so lively, I loved the food, the wine, the people and the life.
I've looked at the city on street view and the changes are remarkable. All the new buildings and so many changes around Puerto del Sol.

Welcome to all newbies 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️. Thanks for the thread WWM2.

I'm nearly a year in and enjoy Gransnet- there are some lovely people, some fascinating posts and it's good to be challenged now and then too.

What a lovely Thread, WhiteWave.
Hello to GNs I've never met before, and hello again to everyone else.

blue14 Thu 28-May-26 10:13:58

Thank you, Charleygirl15, I do occasionally read Soop's Kitchen and as you say it is a very friendly thread.

There really are many lovely people on Gransnet.

SpinDriftCoastal Thu 28-May-26 10:04:28

As you can see from my name I am a seaside girl both in background and current location. Love anything to do with nature, easy people, and being creative. I like reading other Gnetter's perspectives about life, love, and the universe.

Charleygirl5 Thu 28-May-26 09:58:24

Apart from Good Morning, try Soop's kitchen where again you will not be corrected for grammatical or spelling mistakes. It is also very pleasant and friendly and you will soon learn the goings on there. I enjoy it.

100 years ago I think I started off life on Mumsnet but I have no idea how I found GN. I live on my own now and at times it has been a comfort.

blue14 Thu 28-May-26 09:49:54

I should add that getting on for two years I've become 'penpals' with another gransnetter and that gives a lot of pleasure.

blue14 Thu 28-May-26 09:47:00

I have been on Gransnet just over five years so not really a newbie as such.

I always read the Good Morning thread and enjoy reading the daily activities of so many of you.
I also dip in and out of many of the other ongoing threads.

Although I've never started a post I do add to those when I think I have anything to contribute.

However, my name is far from creative so unlikely that I'll be remembered by anyone.

Sunshinegirls Thu 28-May-26 09:46:22

I'm a new poster just joined although I have been looking at Gransnet for a while (lurking lol)

Gardenrosesm Thu 28-May-26 09:43:37

I, too, am a new poster even though I've been on the website for some time. I really appreciate reading some of the posts, and have picked up some useful tips. Will now pull myself together and keep posting!

I think I could sit and pass the test now but my eyesight would let me down. I surrendered my licence almost a year ago. I wanted to do it voluntarily without GP or God help me, the police. It is hell without a car. No more popping out for a loaf of bread at 3 pm. Minicabs are expensive, but I applied for and received the full Attendance Allowance. Please contact me if you are considering filling in the 30 pages because there is a knack.

Joined in 2014 on a cloud of euphoria having just witnessed the birth of my first grandchild . 💜
It would have been very short lived experience, if it was not for the kindness of rosesarered .
I had on my first post been firmly put in my place by a political poster. ( I believe is longer on GN).
However 12 years later I am still here .
Health and Travel threads over the years have been amazingly helpful.
So thank you 😊

I hope the GN wheels will keep turning.
And say to all new posters...
Welcome. 👋
Please remember you have very right to share your thoughts and opinions and of course your sadness joy with us all.

We have twin daughters who are married and parents.

All our best wishes for a wonderful summer and welcome to Granset.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 28-May-26 09:08:37

Well you could start with the “what I am reading” thread. Always good for ideas.

Blimey learning to drive! A whole new world will open up. Good for you.

I don’t think that I could pass the test now.

Annie71 Thu 28-May-26 08:59:06

Thanks for the thread WW. I live in the UK and GN has been an almost daily source of comfort through some dark family times. Having said that I think I’ve only posted twice, I find the whole ‘texting thing’ difficult and yet the warmth and wisdom comes through on this site without a doubt.
So thank you GN, I will put my big girl pants on and try to contribute more! 😂
I like to read, love animals and nature and spending time with family and friends, I adore my grandchildren and I’m finally learning to drive in my late 60’s 🤞.

I remember Whitewavemark have you been away for a reason? I have been a member for nearly 10yrs now but not all the time.

WWM2 hasn't been any where, as far as i'm aware. She started this thread as a place for new posters to introduce themselves.

Welcome, to all new posters.

Wouldn't it be fascinating to see some pages from the beginning! So much has changed. Yes, great to meet new posters or "occasional" ones.
