Whether they are banned or simply stop contributing it seems this happens reasonably often. It is a shame ,particularly when someone who has been a ‘regular’ is banned and most of us have no idea what caused it. A recent person to be banned never, as far as I am aware, transgressed . Sometimes I think someone with opposing views complains and causes a banning quite unnecessarily and we are the poorer for it. It would be very boring indeed if we all held the same views on everything.

All this may be in vain.

Central to this one of US has pressed ‘Report’ and I find that really sad every time I think on.

This! One or more of us thought to report posts from Allira, whom most of us agree is a lovely, humorous, kindly poster who has always been an asset to GN. It saddens me to think we have amongst us a person/persons who could report so energetically as to get another poster banned. My only comfort is that such bitterness consumes the host/hosts eventually.

Working? Yes, Cabbie. But thinking may be above their pay grade so this may have been put on the Pending pile waiting for someone more senior to deal with it.
I don't know how complex was the post you reported but if it was a straightforward case of one poster calling another a rude name or saying something obviously libellous then the junior on duty may have felt confident to deal.

Maremia Fri 29-May-26 22:22:22

But this issue is more complex, and so could take longer.

Scribbles, earlier today I reported a spam post resurrecting a very old thread and it was taken down straight away, so the mods are working.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 29-May-26 21:45:42

Or Alan Sugar’s The Apprentice 😂

Galaxy Fri 29-May-26 21:34:05

grin that made me laugh.

That’s an excellent thought Scribbles. I try to avoid being unnecessarily provocative but honestly - this situation feels like one of those sixth form work experience task / that’s gone very badly wrong

Bellanonna Fri 29-May-26 21:12:11

That’s a thought, Scribbles .

Ive been wondering (clutching at straws) if maybe GNHQ is a bit short staffed this week because it's been school half term? Maybe the grownups will all be back at their desks on Monday and someone with a grain of sense will look at this and make the right decision.
Good evening, Allira.. We'll keep on trying.

petra Fri 29-May-26 20:50:38

I think we should report every post and fill their inbox. 😂

👋 Dickens! 😊

Yes, sorry, I share the pessimism too. I will be absolutely delighted if I am able to say I was wrong.

Ah, but, FGT, the fat lady is not singing yet.

kittylester Fri 29-May-26 19:47:07

Well said, all.

TerriBull Fri 29-May-26 19:44:55

Yes! such a good observation FGT, Allira had that special quality of diffusing threads with gentle humour, exactly one of the many reasons why we need her back. GN is a much sadder place without her.sad

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 29-May-26 19:36:15

I was the one who called Maw ‘the lady with the thin dog’
😁

I had just read ‘Narrowboat to Carcassone’ and it seemed appropriate!

^I hope the mods will reconsider. I always found Allira supportive. I can’t imagine what she wrote or who she offended that prompted the ban.^

Allira has always been a voice of sparky but gentle humour, and has diffused many threads that were teetering on the edge of unpleasantness.
Much missed 😕

This. ✔️
Well said 😊

GSM never got back on here despite many of us sending messages to GNHQ supporting her and her asking herself.

Sadly, it looks like Allira may suffer the same fate but I hope not.

I remember I spearheaded a walk out in support of Maw a few years ago. We joined another site but I began to miss GN and returned after a while. Obviously Maw was reinstated but I don't know how that actually came about. She had a few minor name changes.

I think at the time we hesitated to mention Maw’s name in case it made matters worse so she was referred to as, ‘The lady with the thin dog!’
We’re clearly a little barking in challenging situations.

🐶😁🐶😁
And I was very glad of the support as I, and the other members of the Doghouse Five felt we had been victimised, or so it seemed,, in particular by a poster who subsequently turned out to be not to what she said she was- and caused a lot of grief.
It was all very silly at the time and eventually MNHQ saw the farcical side and relented.
Sadly the same consideration was not granted to another poster we all miss GSM

I have reported your post and asked the mods to read this thread and reconsider their decision.

Every little helps 🤞
