I tend to have more than one book on the go. A bad habit.

Just about to start "Pedro Páramo" by Juan Rulfo.

A thriller. "What happened that night" by Nicci French.

I have spent this weekend pet sitting for my family. Knowing that I would have time on my hands after walking the dog early in the morning and watering the vegetable garden in the evening, I picked up a book in the local charity shop. It's a novel by an author I have not come across before. Alice Feeney. The book is called Beautiful Ugly. A Sunday Times and New York Times best seller.
I cannot think why this book is a best seller, but I intend to plod on to the end in the hope of enlightenment.
Atm I'm sitting in the garden, under the parasol but I think soon it will be too hot to stay outside.
I only have a quarter of the book left to read.

The latest Jane Harper, Last One Out. Thoroughly hooked. Love her crisp, clean style of writing, doesn’t over play her hand but my goodness she packs a punch. Great stuff!

I've not long finished this book and loved it, too. It was slow paced but a riveting story. She's such a good author.

Something by The Secret Barrister. It's on my Kindle, so I can't remember the title, but it's about a court case (murder) seen from the perspectives of the various protagonists - the defendants, the lawyers etc. I'm enjoying it.

'Just One Thing' by the late Dr Michael Mosley. Worth every penny.

I'm re-reading the Wolf Hall trilogy. Having blazed my way through 'Wolf Hall' and 'Bring Up the Bodies' I've got stuck half through 'The Mirror and the Light' once again. I forgot I never finished it last time and found a bookmark half way through so I am 7 pages further than last time. But for some reason I am finding it really hard work - I don't know if it's because I know what is coming or if the writing is just 'boggier' than the other two books...
