Is there a toiletry you can no longer buy and miss?

After my shower this morning I suddenly thought of how in previous years I always used Cussons Imperial Leather talc, especially in hot weather. It left me feeling dry and fresh and had a delicate 'clean' perfume. Not sure why it was stopped being produced🤔 Is there something you miss from years ago?

Harmony hair dye in a triangular box. Also Toners and Shaders for a wash in, wash out colour.

Happy face, it was a face wash which left my skin feeling soft and clean.

Oh yes, Polyherb shampoo! I loved it. Also Body Shop Coconut Oil shampoo, Seaweed & Birch shampoo and Ananya shower gel.

FindingNemo15, I got some Nivea moisturiser in the white bottle not long ago from a local pharmacy, although usually it's the blue bottle that I get.

Nivea face moisture in the white container. I think it is on Amazon, but packs of six!

Esmay

I loved that talc -it smelt so nice.
My all time favourite shampoo was Polyherb .
It lathered up well and left my hair soft and fragrant.
When it was naturally dark it seemed to bring out the red tints .

Scream! me too Esmay! Polyherb ‘Rainsoft’ dark green and pungent, wonderful.
We lived in a soft water area so a little went a long way -
then suddenly it was discontinued.
I have never found anything to match it.
neither have I ever encountered anyone else who had
heard of it let alone used it, just blank looks.

My Mum’s favourite perfume was Coty L’Aimant cream perfume in the little black bottle with the pink dip stick. When she couldn’t get any more out with the stick she’d put a little drop of water in it and give a shake and use it for another few weeks.

Then when it was past that stage she kept in a drawer with lid off to act as a drawer freshener 😊

I still have the one I found in her chest of drawers when I was packing away her stuff after her death 20 odd years ago and I can’t bring myself to part with it. It actually still smells faintly of perfume after all this time.

What a trip back to the past! Mine is Camay soap.

JdotJ Mon 25-May-26 14:40:42

I loved Anne French cleansing milk.

Also 10-0-6 astringent by Bonnie Belle (I think) which was like paint stripper, it was that strong.

TwiceAsNice Mon 25-May-26 14:29:13

glasses Body Shop Blueberry has just come back. My daughters bought it for me for Mothers Day . Still smells the same and inexpensive on their website.

rubysong Mon 25-May-26 14:25:42

Drene shampoo. Also Savlon liquid which was lovely in the bath for healing the skin.

I loved Aqua Manda and Body Shop Dewberry.

BrandyGran Mon 25-May-26 14:21:43

Also pink Germoline in a tube. You can still buy a tube of Germoline but it’s white and not so good. I don’t know why it was discontinued. We still have an ancient tube of the pink stuff which we use very sparingly!

Yes Witzend I loved Olay Everyday Sunshine- couldn’t believe it when told it wasn’t available anymore! It gave my face a glow and moisturised my skin. Such a great name too and I honestly don’t know why they take popular items off the market.

M&S Woodspice range of men's products (shower gel, body spray etc) was brilliant and I would still be using it today if it was still in production.

Fflaurie Mon 25-May-26 13:55:20

French Fern talc, I loved it. It was cooling and fresh.

Greyduster Mon 25-May-26 13:49:27

Morny Sandalwood soap.
I have a third of a bottle of 4711 in my bathroom. I’ve had it far too long for it to be wearable, but I love the bottle, and the colour of the box fits in with the grey and teal colour scheme!

Graphite Mon 25-May-26 13:06:31

I like 4711 and can still buy it in my local indie pharmacy. You can also buy it on Amazon.

Its top notes are lemon, bergamot and orange. The closest I can find elsewhere is Molton Brown’s Orange and Bergamot range.

I seem to recall Quickies make up remover pads had a similar fragrance.

MayBee70 Mon 25-May-26 12:58:27

I’ve got a 4711 stick that I was going to throw out the other day as it had all dried up, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it as it still smells lovely. I used to use it when on holiday in hot places as it’s so refreshing. I miss Anne French cleansing milk, again very refreshing. I have occasionally seen it in independent chemist shops. I’ve never found anything better for removing make up or even just cleaning your face.
