After my shower this morning I suddenly thought of how in previous years I always used Cussons Imperial Leather talc, especially in hot weather. It left me feeling dry and fresh and had a delicate 'clean' perfume. Not sure why it was stopped being produced🤔 Is there something you miss from years ago?

WhenIwasyour age. I will keep looking. I phoned Nivea who confirmed it had been discontinued and suggested I buy cleansing milk which I found a bit odd.

I can almost smell it when I think of it and the song in the ad... 4..7...11......

4711. Where did it originate? Pretty hard to find nowadays.

Just checked out ebay, and its much the same sort of price.
I was quite tempted to try it myself, but not at those prices.
I've got a big body!
A couple of goes with that and it'll be finished.

Oh my god. Oh my god. I have just checked as it is ages since I looked. You can get a bumper pack on amazon works out at £6 per item.

Galaxy

Nivea in shower moisturiser, it is about £50 now on amazon.
Sun moon and stars perfume.

Nooooo, tell me that's not true! I buy it half a dozen at a time when it's on special offer. I'm just finishing up my last bottle and was thinking I'll just have to pay full price if nobody has it on offer 🥲

Avene Toning Lotion have changed their formula, but it's not nearly the same. Before you had to give it a bit of a shake since the lotion portion was heavier than the clear toner. I found it took the remainder of makeup off and left your skin feeling fresh. The new one not so much.

Sea Jade was the 1970s Yardley fragrance. I had to google it!

Im sure the last time i was in shop (about 500 years ago) i saw sachets of linco beer.
My mum used to do our hair with that, and rinse with rainwater smile

I can remember the ads in Mirabelle magazine for Linc-o-Lin beer shampoo, as it was known before it changed its name. I used to love Silvikrin alpine herb shampoo and the advert on Radio Luxembourg where a girl asks her mate, “Alpine Herb? Who’s he?”

Another product I liked was a shampoo called LincoBeer, it was in a little plastic beer barrel. Made my hair super shiny.

Me too. It had a lovely smell to it

TCP!!!

You can still get traditional TCP - I’ve got some.

I've got some TCP in the cupboard. I love the smell and taste of it.

Cardamom, I am currently using Aapri exfoliating face wash! I agree that it’s the best one. I used to love the 70s perfume and talc sets for Christmas - Max Factor Electrique in a blue plastic container; Dorothy Gray Midnight in a navy blue container; Yardley something Jade in a green container; Avon Honeysuckle; No.7 Manana; Goya Gardenia and Goya Aqua Manda; loved them all.

Faberge Kiku in that fabulous yellow packaging.
I had some as a gift at Christmas as an adolescent and fell asleep holding the heavy circular ball of scent.

Gosh, yes, I remember having a big yellow globe of Kiku talcum powder (before we learned it was dangeous). It had a tassel on the top and a big puff for slathering it on.

Yours for £69.99 on eBay.

Vitapoint! Company closed down but someone restarted it, but it is not the same, more greasy, and the smell is nothing like the original.

Camay soap and drene shampoo. My dad worked for procter and gamble and we always used this. Head and shoulders shampoo and of course Daz washing powder.

Flippinheck - my OH has the tin of Germolene his mum gave him when he went away to college in1967... I'm beginning to suspect we may be weird.

'Soir de Paris' in a little blue glass bottle
and 'Lady Manhattan' in a black glass bottle, I though I was so grown up when I was given a set of LM for Christmas with the perfume, talc and body lotion. Must have been late 60s early 70s

Proper , pink Camay soap. They did try to reproduce it but it wasn't ever the same.

“You’ll be a little lovelier each day
With fabulous pink Camay”.

This is a very nostalgic thread, nearly everything mentioned rings a bell with me,

You can still buy L'Aimant by Coty .
It reminds me of my mother..we both loved it .
Mornay French Fern was her favourite soup and mine was Sandalwood.

I love Savon de Marseille which is widely available.
And any product by the Spanish company Puig .
I've noticed that the soap and cologne have zoomed up in price .

Cardamom Mon 25-May-26 16:52:12

I can't remember the proper name but there used to be a shampoo that was advertised as being twice as thick as its rivals. Think it was green? They advertised it by dropping a precious gem into the bottle and seeing how slowly it sank to the bottom compared with others. Green Goddess? Maybe?

Aapri facial exfoliater. It was, allegedly, made from finely ground apricot kernels and was excellent; smelt good too. Never found anything anywhere near as good.
