Is there a toiletry you can no longer buy and miss?

After my shower this morning I suddenly thought of how in previous years I always used Cussons Imperial Leather talc, especially in hot weather. It left me feeling dry and fresh and had a delicate 'clean' perfume. Not sure why it was stopped being produced🤔 Is there something you miss from years ago?

I always loved the smell of Fenjal bath foam and discovered recently that I can still get it on Amazon. As were are having a bath installed soon I think I will order some.

Not a toiletry but I really miss Sandersons throat specific. God knows what was in it but it was so good for a sore throat. It tasted vile and my kids were scared of saying their throat hurt 🤣. I actually got used to the taste and didn't mind it at all.

Loved Aqua Amanda, then they brought out another range called Meadowsweet, in a white bottle with meadow flowers embossed on it. The packaging was gorgeous, bright blue sky and lovely flowers. Smelled divine too. Don’t think it was around for long sadly.

Boots Original Recipe from 70s and also Meadow Song (Aqua Manda) I was standing at a bus stop once and the bees were after me! Cabochard by Gres. Rive Gauche. Elizabeth Arden Green Tea.

.

Talc is toxic and Johnson&Johnson have been sued for $billions in the U.S. by people who have contracted cancers because of it. Cases are pending here too.

Always buy body powder that clearly states that it is ......

100% TALC FREE

CottonTree is very good - and their Rose and Lavender aromas are glorious.

Clinique have recently discontinued their soap. (or cleansing bars as they liked to call them), which I've been using for decades. I bought one on eBay, thinking it would be standard size but it was tiny and cost me a ridiculous £26. Own fault, I guess!

I bought Seringa body lotion by Floris frequently for decades but then it was discontinued. It had the most gorgeous scent.

My favourite perfume was 'La Rochelle'. I wore it every day. It was very popular and I don't know why they stopped making it. I also miss Linco Beer Shampoo. I also remember in the 1980's a monthly brochure from a French company that sold toiletries. I ordered lots of items from there. I can't remember their name.

A lovely reminder of our teenage years and Mum's. I can picture a lot of these in my minds eye and the fragrances .
My lovely Dad cured everything with TCP , he smelt of it permanently in later life .
My Mum used Velouty which was a foundation type of cream . It was a tiny tube , I can still see her making up her face with it and a smear of red lipstick . 💄

I miss Vitapointe leave in conditioner, used it for years and kept my hair in good condition.

poppysmum Tue 26-May-26 13:45:59

Linco beer shampoo usually in sachets like a beer barrel
Aqua Manda orange Mum used to use it and I would love to have some to wear in this weather nice and summery
i know there are lots you can buy on the internet which are discontinued but they are usually a ridiculous price

Yardley Khadine - again, still available but expensive. Reminds me of my teenage years.

MissAdventure Tue 26-May-26 13:37:58

My next door neghbour always smells nice, and she uses Avon perfumes.

NonnaW Tue 26-May-26 13:23:20

I remember Gingham perfume and Aqua Manda. There used to be quite a lot of affordable, nice perfumes (scents?) in the 60’s and 70’s

fancyflowers Tue 26-May-26 13:11:49

I loved Tweed perfume, and Aqua Manda. (I had forgotten that name until someone mentioned it here).

I daresay that if you could find either of these now, they wouldn't smell the same.

Maria59 Tue 26-May-26 11:26:20

Gucci Envy perfume when they discontinued it I changed to Envy me. They have now discontinued that and I haven't found anything as nice.

Witzend

Olay Everyday Sunshine - a moisturiser/SPF that gave a very gradual light tan. Used to be readily available, and not too £££.
I’ve recently found it online, but it’s a lot more expensive.

You can get Olay Complete Everyday moisturiser with a tint/SPF in Superdrug. Apparently it’s not available to order but if they don’t have it in store you can order to pick up in store. I got some the other week.

Yardley’s ‘Khadine’ range, in a purple sort of colour.

Yes, that's the one; I couldn't quite remember the name Khartoum It was a lovely light perfume in a beautiful bottle.

MissAdventure Tue 26-May-26 10:50:09

Ah, worth knowing though i don't think I ever used it before.
