Is there a toiletry you can no longer buy and miss?

After my shower this morning I suddenly thought of how in previous years I always used Cussons Imperial Leather talc, especially in hot weather. It left me feeling dry and fresh and had a delicate 'clean' perfume. Not sure why it was stopped being produced🤔 Is there something you miss from years ago?

I loved Tweed perfume, and Aqua Manda. (I had forgotten that name until someone mentioned it here).

I daresay that if you could find either of these now, they wouldn't smell the same.

Gucci Envy perfume when they discontinued it I changed to Envy me. They have now discontinued that and I haven't found anything as nice.

Olay Everyday Sunshine - a moisturiser/SPF that gave a very gradual light tan. Used to be readily available, and not too £££.
I’ve recently found it online, but it’s a lot more expensive.

You can get Olay Complete Everyday moisturiser with a tint/SPF in Superdrug. Apparently it’s not available to order but if they don’t have it in store you can order to pick up in store. I got some the other week.

Yardley’s ‘Khadine’ range, in a purple sort of colour.

Yes, that's the one; I couldn't quite remember the name Khartoum It was a lovely light perfume in a beautiful bottle.

Ah, worth knowing though i don't think I ever used it before.

There was a cuticura talc, too, wasn't there?

Still available in Boots and Superdrug (probably others, too) for less than a fiver.🙂

We used to use that on our pimples. smile

Brut soap on a rope.
I love The smell of Brute!

I used to like Cuticura soap and talc. Haven’t seen them for ages.

Oooh, lots of lovely things here! I too loved Anne French, the tiny pots of Ponds moisturiser (especially the orange top), Smitty perfume and Gingham by Innoxa. Simple deodorant too and Olay soap.

My mum used to wash my hair with "Chick Chick" egg and lemon shampoo. It came in little sachets.

Boots cold cream was the only make up remover my skin could tolerate and I am sure it stopped me getting wrinkles in the eye area .

sf101 Tue 26-May-26 08:13:36

I too miss Aqua Manda, also cold cream for makeup removal, not that I wear makeup anymore but my daughter is sad she can't get it anymore.

I remember DOP shampoo, a sort of silvery blue colour. You can still get 4711 cologne and tissues on Amazon.

Oil of Ulay! Loved the smell.

Yardley’s ‘Khadine’ range, in a purple sort of colour.

I bought the soap, talc and scent when I went into hospital to have our DD, (52 this year).

I bought some more for DS’s birth nearly 2 years later.

Still have a talcum powder tin in the garage, still the same smell, transports me back to long ago happy days.

Soozikinzi Tue 26-May-26 07:11:11

Was about to put 4711 but I see many have already . Reminds me of my grandma . So cool for this hot weather.

seasider Tue 26-May-26 05:34:38

At school we all wore Aqua Manda (orange) or Aqua Citra (lemon) perfume . If I remember rightly the bottles were brown with a plastic orange or lemon on top.

TCP!!!

You can still get traditional TCP - I’ve got some.

I've got some TCP in the cupboard. I love the smell and taste of it.

My mum swore by TCP for just about anything going. I can't even recall all its uses, except for having to gargle it.

Yes, 4711.

Sea Jade was the 1970s Yardley fragrance. Yes! I loved that one. And I think they did another one called Khartoum? One perfume from the 70s that we all wore was Estee Lauder Youth Dew. Wore it on "big nights out" because it was expensive at the time.

Flippin2 Mon 25-May-26 22:50:51

Miners musk perfume,it was in a little white bottle with pic, think flowers,on the front, loved it

Dempie55 Mon 25-May-26 22:49:35

Shampoos!
I used something called Sta-Blonde, I think John Frieda does the nearest thing now.

But my favourite was a shampoo called DOP. It came in a very small and puffy sachet and I seem to remember the advert involved a gorgeous leggy lovely in a pale blue sports car? (We’re talking early 1970s here…,)

MissAdventure Mon 25-May-26 22:19:32

Ooh yes!
Me and my mum both used that at one point.
They bought out a foundation, too, but i preferred the powder.
I'm sure I saw it in Savers a while back, but i may have only noticed because i was thinking "Well, it wasn't like that, before"

MollyNew Mon 25-May-26 22:14:08

I'm definitely buying some 4711 for my holidays. The tissues in little sachets are so nice for travelling.

I used to like a face powder called Corn Silk.

Some of the above products can be occasionally picked up in shops such as B&M and Home Bargains. Coty L' Aimant, Astral to name a couple.
