I’ll be visiting family on the south coast so a little paddle in the sea and plenty of ice cream 🍨 😀

Chilling at home, a bit of gardening/watering/reading/knitting, - and very glad we don’t have to go anywhere and brave the traffic/queues. Someone from dh’s French conversation group messaged him yesterday about horrendous queues last night for Le Shuttle (tunnel train, in case anyone is unfamiliar.)

Dd and Gdcs are off with her cousin + 4 dcs to Brittany tonight - dh and I could have joined but declined with thanks. 🙂

I’ve just gone back to bed. Not IN bed, ON bed. Didn’t sleep much so feel rather depressed. I loathe hot weather, so I shall just hide indoors until it’s over.

Good news Twice As Nice. I hope that the lovely weather aids your recovery.

I am in Cornwall on holiday -no sun , a sea mist and very chilly today, leaving tomorrow back to London to a heatwave 😂. I will unpack , lots of washing and prepare for the onslaught of family and dogs arriving Tuesday. 4 family birthdays to celebrate next week so one big party for all .

Lunch outside at a local craft brewery. Drove there in the sports car with the roof down. ( DH had low alcohol beer).
As we set off he said ‘Biarritz here we come!’ Unfortunately it was Leicestershire.😂
Sitting in the garden tomorrow.

Just got out the fan. It will be going 24/7 for the next week and I shall stay indoors with blinds down, after walking the dog at 7am.
It’s nice to see sunshine and blue skies but I won’t be out in the heat, which I cannot bear.

Grammaretto Fri 22-May-26 20:08:45

Excellent news TwiceAsNice and nice to be able to recuperate in the warm garden.

Not very warm here nr Edinburgh but dry at least. I have turned off the heating but lit a fire!
I had a tea party with my friend and her son in my greenhouse this afternoon. It's her birthday.

Great holiday pics!

Aldom

Kittylester When my husband was alive we had friends in Easingwold.
We used to go to a lovely cafe in the square where they served home cooked lunches. I wonder if you have been in the same café today. smile

Think we should have been, Aldom.

We went to the George Hotel where we have usually had brilliant food. Total, I had an egg and cress sandwich on gf bread. The bread was so dry it was inedible and the egg and cress was an awful lot of cress and very little egg.

We would have made a fuss but wanted to get to see SiL in her 'awake' period.

Ladyleftfieldlover thank you so much 🥰

Hiding indoors, I hate hot weather. Very overdue for a trip with the dogs to a beach but scorching sand and no shade is hell, so it won’t be any time soon.

I’ve just come home from my spinal operation done yesterday. Some of you may remember me posting about it because I was so scared about it especially the anaesthetic.

It was a complete success , apart from soreness of the wound I am completely pain free . I will be hopefully sitting on the garden furniture if not too uncomfortable , if it is I will be catching up on my reading or binging a box set with the windows open .

Thanks to all the people who reassured me , you were right . Sorry if I’ve high jacked!

Well, this morning we had a delicious breakfast in our nearby small town. Then we attended a very good talk on Holbein and Hilliard. Then home.

Tomorrow we are driving to another nearby small town where OH will buy shirts from M&S. I will buy a pillow. I’ve booked lunch at a little Italian nearby.

On Sunday our daughter is coming to stay until Monday afternoon. I am afraid we’re eating out again! This time at a favourite place which does the best Sunday roast.

On Monday, if the weather is still hot we may have a barbecue. However, if it’s really hot I find it difficult to be outside.

Down in Dorset, had a wonderful long walk, bare footed on my favourite sands, Knoll Beach, Isle of Purbeck, we get as far as the sign designating "Naturist beach" and then beat a retreat and walk in the opposite direction, without looking back. Tea and a scone at Corfe Castle, such a lovely day.

The good weather started yesterday we went to Lymington Harbour and wandered around the town before going to a restaurant. Our last full day tomorrow, some more walking with sea views, I think I've pulled a muscle in my back it's alright if I keep moving but stiffens up otherwise. We'll have a fish supper at a well loved fish restaurant tomorrow evening. Then we wend our way home Sunday, through the New Forest and across the South Downs. Bank holiday at home, the awning will be out and the washing will be on the line. I expect we'll eat outside, not sure what to cook though, I think salad and white wine will figure.

On Sunday we are going to DD. She will do a roast lunch. I will provide a cake for tea. The rest of the day will be spent sitting in her garden looking at the river than runs a bare 50 foot from her boundary and talking to people walking up and down the tow path.

We stay close to home on Bank Holidays - the traffic around us is so horrendous we can't be bothered to get caught up in it. So grocery shopping and hospital this morning then garden until it gets too hot. A village fete tomorrow after lunch at the pub. Sunday we are meeting up with friends for coffee then Monday we will doss around at home. We've got two weekends away next month with family in Kent and Durham so I'm quite happy to laze around this weekend.

Sounds perfect! flowers

Cossy Fri 22-May-26 13:58:37

I (almost) have the house to myself as 2 out of 6 away, 1 at work and 1 undecided! I’m de-cluttering our bedroom As DH is set and won’t know when I “dispose” of things 😜

grandMattie Fri 22-May-26 13:54:11

Nothing at all as usual
Might do some sewing.

Kandinsky Fri 22-May-26 13:50:40

Oh lucky you tanith & GrannyIvy !
I’m actually getting a bit worried that it will be too hot for me this weekend - temperature going up to 90 on Monday.
Sounds like we’re all going to make the most of it though ( if we can )
Happy sunny weekend to you all 😎
