I’ll be visiting family on the south coast so a little paddle in the sea and plenty of ice cream 🍨 😀

We live on the coast and the traffic and parking is do bad we stick to our back garden and have family around for a BBQ

Did a gym class at 8.45 and felt pleased as I almost didn’t go. Hit M&S food and picked up some bargains then made a quiche, prepared freshly picked allotment rhubarb and stewed some for breakfast.
Sat in the garden enjoying the young boys next door playing in their paddling pool .
We leave Bank Holidays to others to enjoy as everywhere in The Dales gets really busy! We find list3n to a swing band yesterday in the park before himself went to watch Spurs win. Thank goodness the football season is over . You can keep The World Cup!
Stay hydrated everyone 🍷

Too hot for me to sit outside and we’ve just had to close our windows and door as someone has started up a very Smokey barbecue

32degrees here in Stockport ,unknown before I am sure.
I am lying on my bed reading and skimming my iPad.
I haven’t been through the door for days.
We are out for a birthday meal for my GS at 5:30, not looking forward to it but I’m sure the restaurant will be air conditioned.

Having sat all morning on the shady terrasse reading poetry at DH's home in France, we are now enjoying the coolth of indoors, thanks to the thick walls of the house.

Saturday I cleaned the house, sorted the washing

Yesterday I did a big buffet lunch for my folks and children and partners and then later had to rescue a stuck bird from the greenhouse. It was a greenfinch I think

Today I've cleaned the big bins, unblocked the washing machine and sweated a lot. I've hung out some solar lights in the garden, so will see if they work

I'm sorry to hear of those of you who have been ill or tending to poorly partners and relatives flowers

Good idea Danma - the M5 isn't going to be much fun this pm....

DevonshireSalop Mon 25-May-26 14:04:02

Too hot to do any more tidying of the garden so indoors to cool down and probably have a nap !

Danma Mon 25-May-26 14:02:10

Staying home to avoid the grockles 😉🤣

In Woodley it's 32 degrees too hot. So staying indoors to keep cool
.

I’ve invited the residents of my retirement estate to tea if they are alone/lonely. It was to be outside but it’s too hot, so we’ll be indoors.
(I do have jelly and ice cream!🍦😅)

Sitting in chemo unit with my son and lots of other poor people. 😢

Up at 7 to walk my dog in shady areas nearby. Lots of Summer clothes going round in the washing machine as I can now take my thermal vest off !

Got the oscillating fan down from the loft so the lounge is super cool.

Nipping out for 10 minute intervals potting up sunflowers and throwing ice cubes for the pooch.

Spagetti bolognaise for tea with some parmesan cheese on the top with a tiny bottle of red wine.

Perfect.

Cooking for DS and DiL, both vegans, who will arrive tomorrow to take me to hospital for an angiogram on Wednesday. Feeling nervous but glad that it's half-term and they can do that for me, also that I'm not missing my Spanish class

Laura, I'm sorry to read that. I hope your DH is out of the woods now, and picking up nicely.

I’ve just come indoors from the garden. Too hot even for me. I’m going to a quiz this afternoon so I need to conserve my energy or I might fall asleep! 😴

Early this morning - just before 6. I was out in my pyjamas picking up squillions of snails - I haven’t the heart to kill them so they go into the garden waste bin, where they can enjoy munching the stuff I’ve cut back.

Since then I’ve been planting dahlias, now drinking coffee, before tackling a climbing plant that has gone mad and giving too much shade.

Later it will be my book, shade, snooze and then dinner.

I’ll be sitting at Orlin’s bedside, as I have since March, in our local hospital where wonderful surgeons and nurses have saved his life after months of struggling.
He is now able to walk a little with aids so we may venture out in to the sunshine as it cools in the evening.
I’m just feeling full of gratitude to still have him.

My very best wishes, and with luck by the end of summer he will be well in his way.

LauraNorderr Sat 23-May-26 10:51:24

Thank you GrannyGravy. It’s been a tough few months but he’s getting there. Can’t wait to have him at home with me.

Oreo Sat 23-May-26 10:47:38

A lot of wine and strawberries and ice cream will be involved.

Oreo Sat 23-May-26 10:46:42

One of the advantages, ok the only advantage 😁of living in an old house is that the windows are smaller and it stays cooler.
A family day today from 12- 5 then I’m working the night shift from 8pm. Off on Sunday so DP and I will see friends locally.

I am so sorry, I didn’t realise your DH had been so poorly.
I have missed your posts.
Sending you a (((hug))) 😘
