Good afternoon, Michael12 and all of you!

I have my normal Friday off work today, so this morning I was in my favourite cafe here in Whitby, scoffing a Full English and a can of lemonade, reading Gallery of the Dead by Chris Carter.

Being I can't abide summer/sun/heat. I'm dreading the latest heatwave again, so I've bought from Spar a pack of Silverbrook Falls Still Mineral Water 6 x 500ml 3 litre and have put them in the freezer for night-time raids, then I can just refill and refreeze each bottle when empty!

I only had a mug, plate and spoon to be washed up last night, which were in soak, so about 2 am I crashed out of bed desperate for a drink, then was about to dive into the washing up, hair a mess, huge tree trunks under my eyes and t-shirt and shorts crumpled, and there were 2 large slugs on the draining board, which didn't bother me, so I left them alone, and there was a third actually curled up clinging to the inside of the bowl, appearing to be sleeping! So I left the washing up as I didn't want to disturb it, finished off the milk I was guzzling and went back to bed! Washing up was done this morning, about 8, when Larry Curley and Mo had gone!

Have a good one!

I read South Manchester and assumed it was a deliberate mistake. It is South of Manchester
😅🤣😂

A very late (for me) good morning from a cloudy, breezy Durham - at least it’s warmer. Hopefully the start of a decent period of better weather, but several degrees below those living in the South. I’ve a sore throat and feel a cold coming on.

DD1 and family are off to Turkey at lunchtime. DGS1 is so excited, he says it’s his most favourite place!
DD2 is meeting up with her very pregnant friend at lunchtime and calling here to collect some stuff to take along. Her friend didn’t want a baby shower, but has had lunches with various sets of friends and relatives instead. I expect DD2 will have some laundry for me.

Later, I’m meeting a friend up at Arnison for coffee. I’ll get my June's birthday cards and a gift from Smyths for DGS2 who will soon be 5 while I’m there.

I need to read the earlier posts, so for now, it’s best wishes to all. X

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where it is impossible to dress for the weather so it’s fingers crossed to get it right.
Haven’t read yet as I’m off shortly to go on our fortnightly visit to the member of our trio who developed sepsis from a urine infection las October. She is still very much herself as far as personality is concerned but physically her life has changed completely. It is so good to still be able to talk and laugh together as we always have for nearly 50 years, she is enormously brave and we must be thankful for that.

Wishing everyone a good day, I’ll read through later.

South Manchester????

Málaga of course! Duh!

I was thinking of you as I dressed this morning.

I am wearing blue cropped trousers, (you know the ones with the three buttons on the side by the hem, come in every colour and sold in every shop on the Costa) with one of the loose cotton shirts sold in the same shops (white with outlines in blue of abstract fish, also sold in every colour)

Sun’s out…

Dear GM ,sounds as if its an inherited tendency if your younger sister has it.
Also it can be triggered by stress.

You don't need to cut down on all food but eat fewer carbohydrates and eat more protein and vegetables.
I was diagnosed about 8 years ago and it is manageable.

Wishing you all the best
So sorry to hear about Bellasnanna's hairdresser.

Grandmabatty Fri 22-May-26 08:33:20

Grammaretto if all goes according to plan, end of November.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It is sunny at last.

My house sale is "going live" today I think. There was a small hitch yesterday as apparently I'd not completed all the forms 😕

DGD is singing her Gaelic song on stage in Perth today. I wish I could be there.

My friend is coming to afternoon tea in my garden as it's her birthday.

Meanwhile I shall be on the till by myself at the community store/café this morning as my 2 colleagues are on holiday. It can get very busy in warm weather because we have some tables outside.

Also we have a new barcode system for the crafts which is bound to have teething issues. Too much stock, especially jewellery, has been going awal stolen so this is long overdue.

Sorry to hear about your type 2 diagnosis gMattie. It's not fair.
Very sad news for your young hairdresser Bella.

Thrilling news for you GMB in time for Christmas?

I'm glad you're enjoying Málaga again. FGT

Have a happy day everyone in the sunshine.

Jaxjacky Fri 22-May-26 08:13:12

Morning from a bright and warm S Hants.
That’s a blow GM I’m sure you’ll manage it well.
A shock Bellas tricky times ahead for her.
Busy morning here, washing, strip bed, farm shop, grocery delivery pm with a reward of pub at tea time, it’ll be busy.
My daughter and children are looking forward to a warm half term.
Safe travels to those on the move.

Good morning from Sunnyside Sandhills northwest coast.
Not much to report from yesterday as I had a restful day after feeling off colour for a while. DS offered to come over. but I was happy just being quiet and having an early night.

DD is having a good time in Greece with friends and sends photos which keep me up to date.
I’m sorry about your diagnosis Grandmattie it does seem unfair.
Thoughts to all 🌺

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk where we expect it to get very hot by the afternoon.

We have a tv aerial man coming at 9am to sort out a problem. DH phoned them yesterday and they offer a same day service if possible. They couldn’t get here until this morning but impressed by how they have kept us informed.

We’ll wait until the job is finished and then probably take the dog for a walk on the Common in a nearby town. The cafe there is dog friend.y….its name ‘ Paws for tea’ is a bit of a giveaway! They do delicious cakes and have lovely outdoor seating areas so seems like a good place for a stroll later. Part of the footpath is through a wooded area so some shade which will be welcome.

Hope today is a good one for all and there is good news in the posts which I’m about to read with my cup of tea.

dragonfly46 Fri 22-May-26 07:54:29

Good morning from a warmer Leicestershire.

We need to pop to the audiologist this morning to sign some papers then after lunch Pilates.

My DH has had Diabetes 2 for some years and our son has Diabetes 3 as he had half his pancreas removed some years ago. I am hoping to avoid it. I hope they can regulate it GrandMattie.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

WhiteSwan63 Fri 22-May-26 07:48:22

Good morning from the East Coast. It’s bright and going to be warm hooray. 🌞

I have a free day today so sitting in the garden will feature. I just need to pick up my prescription. I’ll clean the garden table and chairs I think.
DHs sister is visiting later this afternoon we have a little gift for her from China. Her partner spent two weeks in hospital while we were away and they had to cancel their holiday. He had severe sinusitis.

I meant to say the bridegroom from the wedding in China was fine after a couple of days in hospital but he’ll never forget his wedding day.

I just looked at the care app for my uncle and he’s very wobbly this morning by the sounds of it. I’ll be keeping an eye on that today.

Enjoy the sunshine, thoughts to those going through stressful times at the moment. 🌼

grandMattie Fri 22-May-26 07:46:11

Bellas, what sad news. I’m so sorry for the young family.
My younger sister was diagnosed as diabetic at 45, but that is mostly due to her “German “ diet heavy in red meat and low in vegetables, which her DH hates.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 22-May-26 07:43:53

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have 31°C and it’s glorious already I do love waking up to such cobalt blue skies!

May and September are my favourite months in Málaga as it’s not humid (yet) and there is still a very soft gentle breeze at this time of year. I’m going to try to come out each year for these 2 months bc they are my most favourite.

I wandered up into Arroyo for coffee yesterday such a pleasant town with lots of colour and greenery to enjoy.

This afternoon I’m popping up to see what a friend has had done to her apt here - new flooring, bathroom refurb and new windows - I shall be envious 😁

We will share a bottle of chilled white wine and later about 4pm I shall sit and relax in the beautiful gardens again. I’m keeping out of the midday sun!

Right 2nd TiB to be made now and I shall read all your doings - or ‘bizzyness’ as Pantglas used to say.
I miss her posts (and those from Madeleine too)
It’s a concern isn’t it when our ‘regulars’ aren’t on parade?

kittylester Fri 22-May-26 07:41:50

Good morning all from an already sunny North Leicestershire.

We are going to Yorkshire today to see DH's sister in law. Sadly, she is living with mixed dementia abd sleeps most of the day. Her son lives with her to care for her. We haven't been to see her for a long time due to one thing or another so I think we will be shocked.

Have the best possible everyone.

grandMattie Fri 22-May-26 07:41:00

Re. Type 2, I’m going on some course which, frankly, wont teach me anything I don’t know. Rage probably doesn’t help either! 😉
I’ll just reduce everything I eat, but increase exercise… grrr

Susan56 Fri 22-May-26 07:34:52

Good morning from Shropshire.Very warm already.

We are off to Staffordshire again today to collect DGS1 from school.

grandMattie I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 20 years ago.I had no symptoms and no predisposing factors either but like Grandmabatty was told it was genetic. Its manageable.I would recommend a book/app called Carbs and Cals.Don’t hesitate to message me if I can help at all.

Bellasnana I am so sorry to hear about your friend and hairdresser.I am sure you will be a great support to her.

I hope we hear from Marydoll today.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🌷🦩

Sar53 Fri 22-May-26 07:31:35

Good morning from a sunny and bright Essex coast. I do believe this bank holiday weekend is going to be lovely, for a change .
We have no plans today. DH is struggling in the bright sunlight, his eye streams continuously even with sun glasses on.

I'm sorry to hear your diagnosis GM 💐.
Enjoy the day everyone, best wishes to all xx

Redcar Fri 22-May-26 07:30:55

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where it’s dry, sunny and warm. We had a lot of cloud yesterday but it was warm. I went to the garden centre for more compost and plants. I put the plants in the front garden so some of it looks quite good.
I’ll plant my french bean plants in the trough today and continue the battle with the weeds. Hopefully the gardener will be back next week.

grandmatty, sorry about your diagnosis, and can understand your fury as you are already doing all the right things with your healthy eating and exercise.

bellasnana sad news about your hairdresser, but hopefully any necessary treatment will be successful.

Thinking of all who are struggling at the moment, and those who aren’t posting for any reason. I hope that life’s challenges ease soon for you all.

Have the best day you can everyone.

ginny Fri 22-May-26 07:30:44

Good morning. We are off on our family holiday. We’ll collect Mother in Law and make our way to Yorkshire meeting the rest of the family at our holiday house . Keeping our fingers crossed that the promised warm weather actually happens.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 22-May-26 07:24:37

Just to say two of my children have their birthdays today! Daughter is 45 and elder son is 43. Where have those years gone? It was also my grandmother’s birthday - she died not long after my daughter was born at the age of 72.

Gingster Fri 22-May-26 07:21:08

Good morning and we’re in for a warm one.
When I did school pick yesterday, it had turned very warm and the short walk home drained us. 🥵. How the weather can change so quickly.

Today we have my surrogate’ daughter’s father visiting. He messaged me out of the blue and said he’d like to come and see us. Not a very sociable man with little conversation so with him and Dh it’s going to be rather hard work for me keeping the chat alive. 🫨.

Gd has her school fun day, this is instead of sports day now. (Too much competition 🙄). She’s going to her sisters in Southampton for a few days , so is excited about that.

I’ll get the fans down and try to keep cool.

I know I’m in the minority but really hate the heat.
Enjoy the sun those who love it. ☀️
