I have hair appointments every six weeks - alternate ones are highlights. I have a pedicure every 6 weeks or so but that is all.

What do you have?

I wonder whether I don't think i am worth the cost and attention or am I just content with myself. What else should I consider?

O.M.G. there really are a lot of preening princesses out there!

That seems a bit rude. I don’t think anyone is ‘preening’
We all decide what to spend our money on. I expect there are things you buy or do that others would think extravagant.

I haven't been to the hairdresser since covid. I just let it grow. It's naturally frizzy so I use John Freida Frizz Ease which makes it into separate curls.

I keep my fingernails short and I can cut my own toenails.

I use a moisturizer, foundation, face powder and lipstick but only if I'm going out.

I don't know if Wegovy counts as a beauty treatment but I do that as well. I would love to lose 2 stone.

Yes i must admit all our family have been blessed with good skin, and look younger than our years(even the lads!) So did my mum,& her mum before her. Great for us getting older in family, not so much for the younger end,who are all baby-faced & ID'd into their 30's, much to their annoyance.(i tell them they will be glad of it when they're past mid-40's😆)

O.M.G. there really are a lot of preening princesses out there! I dont mind the occasional spa visit (at (£34 a visit)for sauna, steam rooms etc.. But i colour hair myself or my Granddaughter does it, same for trims if i cant get a low-ish price haircut offer,(she is training for hair& beauty) And i do any other beauty regimes myself.I might get the very occasional pedicure or massage but only if i've been given birthday present money..My word there must be quite a bit of money spare in these times of rising costs.😁

Hair cut every 6 weeks and highlights every 12 weeks. Lip, chin & eyebrow wax every 6 weeks, pedicures every 6 weeks. Manicures as & when..
As I’ve become older (I’m 71 in June) I’ve felt the benefit of a good face oil & hair oil too.

I have a dry cut about every 7 or 8 weeks - that's it. I've never had a manicure or a facial -- it all seems a bit superficial to me. I stopped wearing eye make up during covid and never bothered after that. I do use BB cream to make my face look half way presentable, though.

Haircut every 5/6 weeks don't bother to colour anymore and mani/pedi every 5/6 weeks.

I have haircut every 7weeks and colour every other appointment.I am 78 and cannot stand grey hair.I did go a while without colour, but back to it now as I really didn’t like it.

Nails every 3 weeks.

I take care of my skin myself,I use a lot of products as I swim daily and I find it damaging to my skin,so need lots of moisturiser and body butter to keep it soft.

I gave up colouring my hair when I retired. I like being silver now as I was very fair when young.
As for waxing, all my sparse body hair fell out by about 60. I never did need to shave my legs.

My daughter cuts my hair when it needs it. Otherwise nothing. I dislike others people fussing over my person. Absolutely hate facials.

Hi
I have regular haircut/ colours . I have regular manicures & pedicures. I also have regular waxing . I am lucky that I have a good therapist who comes to my house . It makes me feel better so that’s all that matters. I don’t plan on going grey anytime soon either !.

Astitchintime Thu 21-May-26 17:09:20

Hair trimmed every six weeks and highlighted twice a year with a colour to cover the grey. I attend to my own feet……cannot tolerate anyone touching them! Finger nails are dire…..they split, flake, get hang nails, and generally look awful so I’m ashamed to go to a nail technician to have a manicure. As for facials, I have a good cleansing routine and use Boots No7 age appropriate serum and moisturiser night and day.

Haircut every six weeks.

I loathe going to the hairdresser and visit as seldom as possible. Sitting in front of a mirror and trying to make polite conversation is an ordeal. My hairdresser knows how I feel and is very sweet and easy to talk to thank goodness.
Many years ago I had a makeover in a local department store. I left looking like a drag queen and had to dive into the nearest loos to wash my face.

Lesley60 Thu 21-May-26 16:41:23

I have my hair coloured monthly to cover my grey
Manicure monthly and pedicure every two months
Eyebrows threaded monthly, I don’t know why as I don’t go far but it makes me feel that I haven’t given up on myself completely

My favourite is the facial and massage that my daughter buys me for occasions such as birthday, Mother’s Day and Christmas in my favourite salon

4allweknow Thu 21-May-26 16:33:54

Haircut and dry at hairdresser about every 8 weeks. I have eyebrows tatooed about every 3 years when they fade. This is done in a hospital so free. Used to have nails done but the gel or the heat drying messed them up so now if I want a bit of glamour I just varnish by myself.

sunglow12 Thu 21-May-26 16:26:37

Hair trim once a year ( trim my own wonky fringe every month). That’s all !

Calendargirl Thu 21-May-26 16:22:41

I don’t have anything done, apart from a cut and blow dry about every 8/9 weeks.

Dentist every 6 months.

Cut my own toenails today.

Only make up I wear is a dash of lipstick on rare occasions.

Has never occurred to me to have anything done to my eyebrows.

No idea what Hifu was till I saw this thread.

Think my skin is relatively smooth and wrinkle free for early 70’s, but I do have dark circles under my eyes.

DamaskRose Thu 21-May-26 16:15:11

Hair cut every five weeks or so.
Have had gel nail colour twice and my nails were terrible afterwards so keep them short with clear nail polish.
Have had reflexology and loved it, must find someone in my new area.
I’ve inherited good skin from my mother but I do look after it too.
What I’d really like is a very natural looking spray tan …

Babsbada Thu 21-May-26 15:46:08

Hair cut and highlighted every six weeks. Nails i do myself. Expensive but effective facial products daily and dentist regularly for clean and polish. That's about it!

jakuss Thu 21-May-26 15:43:17

None, I can only afford haircut once a year, never had a manicure, pedicure, spa, health farm, hair done, facial, massage, pampering , absolutely nothing, never could afford it, age 78 now

Silvertwigs Thu 21-May-26 15:30:59

kittylester That’s all I have is my colours (foils) done every 8/9 weeks and a lux pedi. I used to have massages and facials but I don’t any longer. I would if I could afford it though 😂😂🤗

maxmyers Thu 21-May-26 15:29:42

Just hair every 6 weeks or so. I’ve embraced the grey so no need for colour.
I’ve had shellac nails done in the past, but ended up ruining it by picking at them, so don’t bother any more.
I moisturise and use factor 50. I would love something to get rid of puffy eyes but nothing I’ve tried works- any suggestions gratefully received.
I use eyelash serum on the advice of my DD - I think it works though no-one else would notice.
I’ve had laser treatment to get rid of spider veins on my face and was pleased with the results, but again I don’t think any one else noticed.
So quite a few things really, but most of the time no make up hair messy and wearing baggy jeans- always embarrassed when I bump into acquaintances in the supermarket. I suppose I scrub up ok when necessary but rarely have need.

GrannyIvy Thu 21-May-26 15:19:15

Hair cut and colour every 6 to 7 weeks
Eyebrow wax and tint every 5 weeks or so
Pedicure and gel nails every four weeks but only toes. I keep my finger nails short with clear polish I apply myself as I’m not keen on long brightly coloured finger nails.

I do fancy having reflexology never had it but going to treat myself

Shanksy Thu 21-May-26 14:45:07

Well I guess it comes down to money for me and as I’ve taken early retirement I’m very aware now about luxuries and what I can afford so bare minimum for me is haircut and coloured every 4 months, eyelashes and eyebrows dyed every 4 months too oh and eyebrows trimmed.
