Anyone else fed up with all the stupid adverts that are getting shown and all the ones for simple cremations

Where's Allira?

My favourite advert which I'll always happily watch is Nationwide. The expressions on Dominic West's face are to die for!

The other guy is also brilliant, as he calmly informs him about all the things Nationwide does for its customers. No drama, just tells him straight. 😂

I used to like the one with the vet trying to resuscitate a hat. smile

Yes, a hoot!

I’ve seen one advertising toilet rolls, aimed specifically at pregnant women, because apparently quite a high percentage of women (of a smallish number surveyed) are afraid of “pooing” when giving birth. Just another thing for pregnant women to worry about. I’ve only ever seen the ad once, so I wondered if it had been pulled after complaints.
The other one is the young couple at a concert singing about cremation and the audience whoops and cheers at the end. Bizarre!

I like some of the Specsavers ads often shown before Emmerdale and Corrie to promote their audiology services. They are all misheard conversations.

My current favourite is the one with the police sergeant saying to her junior “I told you to watch the suspect’s car”.
The camera then turns to the rookie officer who is washing the suspect’s windscreen. A grumpy Grant Mitchell style face appears in the driving seat when the officer runs the squeegee over the suds.

As you can see, I’ve got too much time on my hands 😀

I get annoyed hearing celebrities doing voiceovers on adverts. They must be paid huge amounts for a job that a jobbing actor could do just as well.

That annoys me too!! Judi Dench must be rich enough not to need to do adverts

Bellasnanna I must look out for thst one 😀

I do love the one where the woman is looking horrified at a flock of sheep in her living room ‘Dave! I said to bring the SHEETS in’ 😂😂

MissAdventure Sun 17-May-26 12:39:58

I've not seen that one before.
No more dribble dramas.

They are very much apparently aimed at younger women, aren't they. By younger at my age I think of post giving birth or maybe early menopause. Think of that one with the pads then bums up doing yoga etc.
I dont mind these apparently TMI ads, just wondering if we'll see them for men actually adverted.

grin

There is one.

I get annoyed by presenters on BBC
advertising how they do their reporting I think it's pointless and suggesting they give unbiased reporting It's like they think making these claims will make viewers believe they are amazing reporters and unbiased I object to the time wasted and idea that telling viewers how good they are at the job will help in some way

You must live abroad. You see, the BBC don't have advertisements.

Gransnet seems to be a TV advertisers dream... love 'em or hate 'em they seem to be working!

I've noticed that Lorraine Kelly is narrating an advert for something. Can't recall what. But I recognised the voice and checked. She must be feeling the pinch now that her dreadful breakfast show has been reduced to 30 minutes for a few weeks a year. I've never liked her at all

Yes to all those. I just have to mute when I see that awful smug couple talking about their holiday insurance. Plus the gormless guy who's "going for a break" and ends up covered with stickers for some unfathomable reason. Reflect on this: the people who are designing these adverts probably completed 3 years at a 'YOONY' to get a marketing degree! A sad reflection on our education system.
And my ears bleed whenever I hear the screeching voice of Joanna Page. But that's another threadgrin

Madgran77 Sat 16-May-26 17:43:31

I loathe the toilet rolls one which are basically various close up of people's bottoms while they run to the loo!! 🙄

Hunros Sat 16-May-26 14:31:46

Oh for the (very) old adverts like "You'll wonder where the yellow went, when you brush your teeth with Pepsodent" ; "Danish blue cheese - With pickles , perfect" to the tune of Big Ben,
Anyone remember any others?

Yes, but at that age they should be seeking medical advice if they're leaking that much.

Should have done their pelvic floor exercises 😁

I think the worst advert on tv is the one with the 2 bladder weakness women discussing “bulky pee pants”

They discover the wonderfully discreet padded pants which they claim to be still wearing after 12 hours. They are excitedly sitting on the shoulders of their husbands bopping away at a concert.

Everytime it comes on it makes me laugh and I wonder if the music is loud enough to drown out possible squelching sounds coming from the shoulders of the menfolk 💦 😆

Oh thank you ... that's made me laugh out loud 😀

Like others I record most of what I watch so I can fast forward through the adverts.
That doesn’t work for the morning news on Sky though. There is a regular advert on there for travel insurance - Blue Skies, I think. The woman is a terrible actress and the man is spectacularly gormless. I have to mute it every time and regardless of price I would never buy that brand of insurance.

BrandyGran Fri 15-May-26 14:24:06

I haven’t laughed out loud so much in ages! This is an hilarious thread!
My favourite ad is the pretty young woman selling her biker jacket on eBay and being so sad that her biker era is over. It makes me chuckle every time!
