Good Morning Everyone,
Its daylight but looking grey and cold outside here in Brackley this morning.
Yesterday I did not risk it and did not go on the coach trip, health wise .
Today a day indoors besides meals with watch Tour Of Italy on TV.
Take Care,
Mick

Well done on booking your flights FGT. It will be very sad doing all these things alone for the first time but hopefully it will also be cathartic flowers

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire.

It’s a beautiful morning here. MrB and I have enjoyed our favourite walk around the dock. I have not been feeling well recently, I am sleeping badly but I’m so grateful to be able to get out in the sunshine and fresh air.

As always, thinking of those with troubles in their lives.

Wishing you a good day whatever you’re doing. 🌹

fgt well done for booking your flight back to Malaga. I’m sure you’ll receive a warm and sympathetic welcome back from your friends there.

BlueSapphire Sun 10-May-26 09:49:55

Just read all the previous posts.

Lovely photos again today.
Happy memories of Bowood for me glammagran, sounds as though you had a lovely time.
Also happy memories of Cambridge, brook.

FGT2 shall be thinking of you next week in Malaga; go with a brave heart and all will be fine. Himself would be so pleased and happy for you, so hold on to that thought. That is what has got me through many a difficult time.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I didn’t wake until after 8 am.

Lunch out today and then we’re going to visit one or two Oxford Arts Weeks exhibitions. If we have time we may pop into a garden centre and buy hanging basket plants.

I am off to Kew tomorrow to look after my granddaughter for a few days so I need to sort out what I’m taking. While I’m there I will take the opportunity to call into the V&A, National Gallery and Kew Gardens (I’m a member now). Once I’ve dropped S off at school I am free until 3.30 pm.

Have a good Sunday. It’s rather grey here but I don’t think rain is forecast.

Good morning everyone from a grey and windy Northampton; just popped out to the garage to get something from the freezer and it feels really chilly.

Yesterday was lovely and warm and I enjoyed my trip into town to the cinema; I had time to have a wander round the shops first, and ended up with a new nightdress (to slip on on warm summer mornings), two new diffusers (lemon and sea-salt) and a pack of 3 toothbrushes.
I then went to the cinema and settled down to watch the film (Rose of Nevada) with 🍷, and spent the next couple of hours wondering what it was all about! I had to Google the plot afterwards.... It appeared to be be about a ghost fishing boat and time travel. I can't make out why it got a four-star review in my newspaper.

My only plans for today are to cut my large back lawn, and then catch up with the weekend papers, but a sausage butty calls me first.
Rack of lamb for dinner.

Wishing all a pleasant Sunday.

I too was moved to tears by your post FGT.

You are amazing and Himself would be so blooming proud of you💪💐

Sorry.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Blue skies ❤️

Nothing much on the cards today apart from a potter coming here to pot or for a croissant and coffee with me at our wonderful community café or both

I need to get organised for an early start tomorrow to go south for DBiL's funeral. It's going to be very sad indeed.

Yesterday's foraging and cooking near the beach was fun and even the cold north wind didn't stop the children beachcombing. One little girl found some amber. She'll surely treasure that.

I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time in Málaga GFT . Make sure to keep your phone charged unlike me in Dublin when I had to splash out on a battery bank strategically placed at the airport.

Happy mother's day Bella

Poor you greyduster. You have been in the wars. I'm always cautious now having twice broken my wrist.

Marydoll the church hall looked beautiful. No wonder the parishioner wept. You really are a trooper.

Hoping everyone has some joy today.

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Check up at opticians yesterday and new contact lenses ordered. After that I had my nails done, so it was a maintenance day apart from washing sheets etc after my sister’s visit.
In the evening I watched the first The Devil Wears Prada. Never seen it before and the remake reminded me. I’m averse to very popular, highly promoted American films, but enjoyed it more than I expected.

Today I need to look at music for rehearsals, auditions and the music club. I’m still hoping to meet up with my cousin before he flies back to America.
Thoughts to FGT and I hope you all have a pleasant Sunday🌺

Good morning all from a dull Black country.
Have appeared to have slept in this morning so will catch up with everybody's happenings once I've made a cuppa, 43 posts already.
Have no plans as yet although I think DH may want to do garden centre visit.
Wishing everyone a good day whatever their plans, thoughts with missing posters and safe travels those on the move ☀️.

We called ourselves ‘Ladies Who Wine’ Ashcombe (LWW) because as we meet every Tuesday we thought on our pensions, lunch every week might scupper regular meet ups! Best decision we ever made, we’ve been meeting every Tuesday afternoon for nearly 12 years now.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 10-May-26 08:34:30

Glad I’m not there just yet the weather in Málaga hasn’t quite settled into ‘summer’ and it’s rained heavily since Friday.

I need it to be warm and sunny so I can just sit quietly in the gardens with my book and my memories, having a swim in the pool and finding some equilibrium there. I’m nervous so I’m going to put it out of my mind till next weekend as my bereavement counsellor suggested. He said I go too far ahead in my thoughts and that makes me anxious so just go
‘One day at a time’.

Ashcombe Sun 10-May-26 08:28:12

Thank you very much, FriedGreenTomatoes, for that kind comment! DH was pleased to tell me that the lady you mentioned is just six months older than me as I shall be 76 later this month! But I’m nowhere near as productive as she is!

Earlier, I was moved to tears by your post about Himself's words to you about your holiday apartment. It was a special part of your life with him and it’s good to continue to go there now you feel strong enough. I expect your ladies who lunch will welcome you back. 💐💃🏻🍹

Good morning from a dullish Suffolk where sun is predicted soon.

DS and DGS3 did a wonderful job yesterday cleaning my car although,in the process, something has happened to the hose fitting attached to the tap as no water came out when I tried to water the pots in the back yard yesterday evening.

DS’s ‘ inspection’ of the house revealed a crack on one of lids of the septic tank covers and a small piece of wood rotting on part of the fascia. As he said, the costs are much less if jobs are done when any damage is small.

Apart from a dog walk this morning, we have no plans for the day apart from relaxing with the papers and reading. Now to read the posts with another cup of tea.

I hope today is an easy one for all.

kittylester Sun 10-May-26 08:20:25

Good morning all from a duller North Leicestershire.

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the Fair, dragonfly. We thought it was much quieter than previous years with fewer stalls. Our choir was well received and we acquired 2 new members and, of course, had great fun.

Today DH and DS1 are going to the football so I have all day to prepare supper for when they get home. I was hoping to sit in the garden but it looks as though it won't be warm enough.

We are making good use of our new garden furniture and wonder why we left it so long.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Gingster Sun 10-May-26 08:20:11

Good morning all and it’s a bit breezy out there.
It seems strange to hear of some of you having torrential rain.
We haven’t had any here in Essex for weeks.

Yesterday ds1 and DIL came in for coffee and brought dog food, papers and milk but no pastries 😢. They are on a health kick . I’d left Dh getting ready for his shower (, I like to be there in case of trips). Chatting away , I forgot about him, DIL said ‘is he still in the shower?’ 😅.
I ran upstairs and he’d gone back to bed.😤

I sorted out Dh ‘s hearing aids. He really is the limit and doesn’t look after them.

Nothing on today so will do a bit of weeding and watering. It’s sooo dry out there.

I will phone ds2 to find out the latest on DGD .

latedec what a sweet little chap.
Greyduster hope you’re not too sore today 💐.

Take care all 🌺

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 10-May-26 08:14:11

Great photos Ashcombe. Thanks for sharing the beautiful views. I think you look like Anna Wintour with your neat bob and sunglasses! Very stylish.

brook2704 Sun 10-May-26 08:13:27

Good morning everyone from Cambridge where it’s a bit cloudier than yesterday but feels warm
So sorry to hear you tripped Greyduster, I hope you’re not too bruised and heal quickly, sorry you missed out on the theatre trip
Yesterday as it was such a lovely warm day we went into Cambridge, took a picnic and sat by the river. There were so many people out and about, lots taking punting trips along the river, lots of groups sitting on the grass with picnics and lots in the outdoor lido. The boys played frisbee with their dad for ages then went for a swim, DD and I went for a nice coffee sat in a pavement cafe. A lovely day all round. I’m not sure what we’re doing today but will see
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Jaxjacky Sun 10-May-26 08:12:25

Morning Mick and all from a bright S Hants, it’s windy and we’re back to needing rain again.
Go gently today Greyduster. Your holiday sounds a good mix Georgesgran of rest and activity.
You have to touch those memories FGT another hurdle, himself was very wise.
Yesterday, after a discussion, MrJ strimmed the front grass, the back is being left for ‘no mow May’. We watched my team draw in the first leg of the football play offs.
Today, no real plans, roast chicken for dinner.

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it is 3°C.

Happy Mother's Day, Bella

I hope you are not in too much pain Greyduster. 💐

Gaga, at last, some happy news for you.

Yesterday's First Communion was probably the nicest one in the thirty years I have been doing it. Tickets had to be issued, due to smaller capacity. Everyone present behaved impeccably, that is not always the case.

I became an honary member of staff for the day. --I taught in the other parish school and was frequently involved in our sister school.
The two teachers, who arrived first were obviously stressed and my offer to help was immediately seized upon.
Then the HT asked if I could be bouncer at the door, along with a young teacher.
I knew many of the people, so there was much hilarity, when they saw me working again in the wrong school. 😉

I was sitting beside the children and the teacher responsible for the music, when I noticed one of the First Communion teachers trying to catch my eye.
A child in a voluminous dress had kicked of her shoe, (a white trainer, with fancy ribbons) and couldn't get it back on again.
She was in the front row, which made it worse.
I ended up, lifting up her dress, while the teacher had to undo the laces and replaced it. We could not stop laughing.
Later, the P.P asked: MD, what on earth were you doing , sitting on the floor, during Mass?
I am such a noticebox.🤣

There were gasps, when people entered and saw the beautiful hall.
The parishioners at the Vigil Mass later, were raving about it.
One elderly gentleman with tears in his eyes, held my hand and asked if I was responsible for the chairs. I knew it was you, he said. ♥️

It is back to Mass this morning. It is a tradition that the children come to 10am Sunday Mass to let the parishioners see them and for them to receive the Eucharist.

DH has gone for a walk around the block. He has a tracker on his phone, because he isn't really making progress. 😪
Yesterday he was away for ages and I was about to go looking for him.
Oh, the papers weren't in. I thought I would wait for them. 🤬

I need to get moving. It will be a very crowded church today.

Dragonfly, I hope your spirits lift soon. ♥️

Have a Buona Domenica, which the P.P always says, as a he disappears.

EkwaNimitee Sun 10-May-26 08:08:40

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny but nippy Carlisle.
Yesterday was a rather boring day for an active person as I'm still not up to anything physical, still battling an infected kidney...and it's the same today. Frustration!
I did have a long phone chat with my sister, largely featuring our various health problems!
Just before lunch I decided to renew my driving licence online. A mistake as it was not the straightforward process it was last time. Now you have to download their new app, a longwinded process involving both Mac and phone, before you can get on with the actual application. It would have been far quicker to fill in the paper form. Lunch was late, needless to say.

Today will be another boring one sitting about, I yearn to go out for a good walk or do some gardening but I am not up to it. I've got visitors next week so must nurse myself along.

But do have a good day everyone.

Grandmabatty Sun 10-May-26 08:05:53

Ashcombe, lovely photos. I love mountains

grandMattie Sun 10-May-26 08:02:32

I agree uttb, a “fall” shakes one’s confidence hugely, and as you say, that is as hard as the actual, often minor, injuries.

Ashcombe Sun 10-May-26 08:00:56

Good morning from a sunny Torbay where we have slept late following a very hectic week!

Thank you for all the appreciative comments regarding my photos. Here are the last few (I promise!) taken in the Alps on our final full day. We loved the excursions but found the river boat experience overall less enjoyable than sea cruises.

I’m sorry to hear about your fall, Greyduster and hope your appointments come through soon, RosesandLilacs.
Congratulations to your DD, Gagagran! Her musical talents will be such an asset to the school - they are lucky to have her!

A blessed Sunday to you all. 💐✝️🥰
