Forgot to respond yesterday - Re White asparagus - it’s now being cultivated in Formby - specifically for the German market - apparently they prefer it to green variety - a recipe in the Telegraph last week for a ‘sauce’ to accompany it - a type of ‘gribiche’ suggests to me it may not be as flavoursome as green asparagus 👍☘️

blue, we lived in Jersey at the time of the original Bergerac and would laugh our heads off when Jim would drive round a corner only to be on the other side of the island!
We had dinner at Diamond Lill’s more than once.
I don’t want to spoil the magic of the original and the associated memories.

Good morning from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast. My younger sister from London arrived on Thursday and we have had a good time gadding about, going to some new places and I’m glad to have a day at home.

Tomorrow I travel south with her by car to stay with my DD. Sadly I booked my train ticket quite a while ago before my sister decided to come, but I will use the open return.
Thoughts to all🌺

Gammon in the slow cooker is lovely and so easy.
I have cooked it in just water with a splash of vinegar, “full fat “ coke and apple juice, all have been fine but now just use water.

Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire.

MrB and I have enjoyed our favourite walk around the dock and woodland path. It’s very quiet here, just the blackbirds singing and the occasional toot from the railway museum as they fire up the engines ready for today’s runs.

As always, thinking of those with troubles in their lives.

Wishing you a good day whatever you’re doing. 🌹

Grannyme6 Sun 03-May-26 09:57:16

A late good morning from mid Essex, it’s dry and quite bright.
I’ve noticed several mentions of gammon for supper - I’m about to attempt my first ever gammon - in the slow cooker! Will add cider and hope for the best. It’s mainly for cold ham as DH complains about supermarket ham.
Sending my best wishes to all our Good Morningers especially those with worries and struggles.

Good morning everyone from an overcast Northampton, expecting it to stay like this all day plus the chance of a shower.

A waste of time booking my package return yesterday as they failed to collect it; on further investigation Evri tried to collect it on Friday when I was out, couldn't find it (as I wasn't expecting them) and left. I have contacted Evri and will need to wait till Tuesday to see what will happen. What is the point of booking a date when I know I'll be there, only for them to come a day early?

Meanwhile, while waiting, I stripped the bed plus the mattress topper, and got everything washed and dried. I also decided to do some dust removal, and was merrily spraying away with the furniture polish, and wondering why things weren't looking shiny. Then I realised I was using ant killer spray.....
Will continue with the (late spring) cleaning today, and will tackle the dining room and study, first of all checking I have the right spray can! I normally do just a damp dust with a damp E cloth, and rarely polish, so the furniture is getting a treat.

I binge-watched the first three episodes of the new Bergerac last night and really enjoyed it.

Roast gammon joint for dinner tonight so there will be leftovers for a couple of days.

Wishing all a pleasant Sunday.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire, rather cold again here, the brief period of sunshine was so nice.

A big disappointment Gingster, maybe it will still work out, it certainly is an additional challenge you could do without.

Church this morning and then a quiet day, I hope I use it wisely, lots here to be done!

Wishing everyone a good day.

karmalady Sun 03-May-26 09:30:44

You are strong Gingster I saw this in you, hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. None of us can be anything but pragmatic if we want to make the best of our lives, day by day. So we bend with whatever happens

I see the same attitude in Rosesandlilac

Good morning from a deliciously damp Cornwall, where all my patio plants have raindrops hanging from them. So pretty. The Echium is right up against my door now. Almost overnight it seems the trees on the main road at the other side of my flat have greened and filled my view.

Last night I went to an amateur production of The Sound of Music. The acting and singing blew us away and it rivalled a professional performance. Amazing. Today I'm having lunch with my best pal at a creekside café where we walk across the creek itself because the tide is low. Tonight it's Wetherspoons with my sons and the grandchildren. An unusually full weekend.

Good morning from a dull and grey Birmingham.

Peter Kay was excellent last night, he was on stage for well over 2 hours! Rained heavily walking there from Hotel, and again leaving. The venue was packed.

Just deciding where to have breakfast before train home.

Wishing you all the best day possible

Good morning all and we’ve had rain here in Essex but not enough. More forecast today but it will be just a drizzle here in our little dry corner.

Yesterday was very successful on our trip to the seaside house.
We found all the necessary paperwork, sat in the sunny garden and had our picnic, walked little pooch along the beach and had a chat to our lovely neighbour. Then back home by tea time. The A12 behaved well for us but the traffic coming back the other way was nose to tail for miles. Dh enjoyed the change of scenery and ds1 was, as usual a 🌟.

Karma thanks for enquiring about my eye test.. I thought it went ok but the optometrist said I’m still missing areas of vision. So I’m not holding out much hope of getting my licence back. I will send off the results and await the DVLA’s decision which will probably take months 😤.

Today Dd and youngest DGD are coming for roast chicken at lunchtime. We like to get the meal over and then relax for the afternoon. Not sure what we’ll be up to but DGD usually comes up with something fun or mind taxing.🤯. She’s getting older now (10 and a half) so activities change.

Sar sorry to hear your gs has broken his wrist and will be out of rugby for a while. How upsetting for him.
Our 14yr old gd has done something serious to her knee and is awaiting scan results. She is a budding dancer/gymnast and that is her passion and has high hopes for her future.

I hope. You all have a good day. 🙏

Usedtobeblonde Sun 03-May-26 08:57:38

Good morning all from a cloudier and cooler Stockport.
Yesterday was very quiet and today looks the same, family involved with other things.
Enjoy your BH weekend.

Susan56 Sun 03-May-26 08:45:21

Good morning from Shropshire.A damp start.

We didn’t get rain until late afternoon yesterday so DGS was able to enjoy playing in the garden.DGD kept busy with various crafts and writing a story.

We have a couple of days at home ahead🤞🏻so depending on the weather it will be gardening or more garage sorting with lots of time spent relaxing and reading as well I hope.

I’m glad your meal went well FGT💪💐

Thinking of all our absent friends and all struggling💐

Wishing everyone the best day possible🌷🦩

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where the weather has taken a turn. Grateful for it, as the garden is parched. I bought some red geraniums from Aldi yesterday and put them in pots. They are a must have for me in any garden - as have been dahlias, R&L. I started off growing Arabian Nights in a garden in Manorbier and then grew other varieties wherever we were stationed if I could get hold of the tubers, especially in Holland where they had lovely varieties in our local market. Sadly, this garden doesn’t like them. Very hit and miss so I’ve all but given up.

Today I will bake. I’m not expecting any visitors - DH and DiL are away in Scotland (he is smug because he spotted a Great Northern Diver and I’ve never seen one! I think we might make a bird watcher of him yet!). I will see DD and SiL tomorrow so today is an empty. As I’m still sore from my covid jab I don’t intend to do a lot.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning from a damp Suffolk although the rain which came in the night has done nothing to water the garden. We are only a few miles from the coast and weather forecasts for here are very unreliable.

DGD did a good trawl through the 2 charity shops in our nearest small town in the afternoon…a break from her revision. She is good at knowing what will suit her and bought a lovely black cotton loose fitting embroidered too for £3.

A home based day whilst she works interspersed with cups of tea and chat.

Hope today is a good one for all.

Georgesgran Sun 03-May-26 08:25:40

Good Morning from Durham. After such a warm, sunny day yesterday, it’s raining today. I rarely look at the forecast in advance.
I’m hoping for a day to myself, although I still have DD2’s Little Dog here. He must go - soon!

Best wishes to all. X

Sar53 Sun 03-May-26 08:10:16

Good morning from Norfolk where it is miserable and damp. We had a lot of rain last night.
The rugby tournament was going well yesterday until DH's grandson broke his wrist quite badly. The local hospital were great and he was treated and back here later in the evening. No more rugby for him for some time.
Today there is more rugby this afternoon before which we are hoping to find a pub serving a Sunday roast.
Back home tomorrow xx

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s damp so we’ve had rain in the night. Seems mild enough but there’s dark clouds o’er Bill’s mother’s.

Yesterday’s family meal went splendidly. I’m so proud of us all it was exactly as Himself would’ve wanted. I had requested that the bill not be brought to the table and I’d settle up,on my way out. The itemised bill was like a ticker-tape as you can imagine!

Yorkshire Lass and her husband are still asleep in the bedroom. I slept on the Z-bed here in the main room and was pleasantly surprised how comfortable I was.

Later I’m taking them out for breakfast. Well it’s better than getting the frying pan out …. 😉

Good morning everyone from a damp Lancashire.
I'm going to go to church this morning and then DH and the little chap will come down for the coffee and chat at the end. We're at that inbetween stage where he's too young for the Sunday School, but too young to understand the need to be still in the service.
Everybody makes a huge fuss of him and says he's fine, but I am conscious that church is meant to be time out for quietude for many people.

This afternoon I'm going to prepare a pie filling and bake a cake ahead of DH's friend visiting tomorrow so I feel less rushed in the morning.

Hope everyone has the best day possible. 🌻

Good morning everyone from Inverness, we’ve had some overnight rain but it’s warm and dry just now
I really enjoyed the line dancing social last night ( thanks Jax), I’m getting to know more dances, it’s much harder than I thought. I was home just gone 11, straight to bed but it took a while for me to get to sleep. It’ll be a quieter day today, a FaceTime call from DS first thing then a few jobs around the house, some gardening and a quick bit of food shopping.
Enjoy the sleepover with the boys grandmabatty, lots of splashes in the bath!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from Sheffield

Its a grey drizzly day here too, the garden needs it though

Yesterday we decided to go out for pizza.
There is an excellent restaurant in Sheffield city centre that do gluten free pizzas that taste like they’re not. It was such a treat.
I very rarely go into town at night to bars and such, it was nice to see the city full of people.

Not sure what today will bring. I may go to Ikea. We need a new small sofa for DH’s man cave. We did buy a secondhand one which looked great but they had stored it in their garage for a couple of years and it was infested with mould. Not apparent at the time. The mould started to multiply and spread to a table and the carpet. We had to tip it.
Buying new this time.

Take care everyone flowers

Good morning Mick and everyone from rainy Carlisle.
I hope you enjoyed your day yesterday Mick, sounds like it will be an interesting one for you today.

I went out for an early walk through the park yesterday to get my paper. The birds were singing their heads off, the mallards had little fluffy chicks and the swans still sitting their eggs whilst the cobs kept guard. There was a large walking group who weren't keen to yield the path and a sole walker-me!-who wasn't going to break her brisk stride....the winner! Dog walkers always considerate and friendly I find.

Later, after a phone chat with my sister, I got on with checking my holiday finances and a bit of filing, After lunch I went out in the garden and planted what will be a rather large rhododendron. Nearby, two buddleias have had their new foliage die back which is sad as they had beautiful blooms which the butterflies loved. I don't think they will recover.
I finished off the day with a reading catch up and a bit of puzzling.

Today, in spite of the rain, I am visiting the garden centre and will not come out empty handed! Then I shall set about the papers and books. I have yet another new one, on the neolithic treasures of Malta. I find those peoples fascinating, I'm sure they were much more sophisticated and well travelled than we once imagined.

Have a pleasant Sunday everyone.

Morning Mick, morning all. Light cloud over our corner of Somerset. A showery day forecast.

Mr C’s phone accidentally woke us an hour early yesterday, after getting over the shock we decided it was to our advantage as we navigated two motorways without the traffic problems occurring later.

A successful day began with an hour sorting my parents grave, Mr C redeemed himself by getting the almost flat headstone (all the local council allowed) back to a pristine condition after the winter rains. It was on to some shopping with everything on my wish list accomplished. A happy few hours with our son ended the day. It began to rain, hard, as we drove home. Horrid accident on the M5 northbound making us grateful we were travelling south and worried for those involved. Large puddles greeted us here, I’m sure the garden is thankful for the rain although it made my drive very difficult at times.

A quiet, recovery, day ahead today. We’re both exhausted. Roast chicken this evening, nothing else planned.

Wishing you all the best day it can be.
