It’s been a while so I will start us off…….whats for supper and why?

Duck with plum sauce from the freezer. I made loads of bags of plum sauce from the plums on our allotment last year. Sadly, this year, the tree doesn't look as if there will be many plums this year.

Probably a cauliflower/broccoli/macaroni cheese, extra cheese and breadcrumbs on top, whack under the grill.

Or, if I’m feeling lazier than usual, Young’s Jumbo fish fingers with baby potatoes and whatever salad I can rustle up.

Whichever I don’t do, will be for tomorrow.

I think 'supper' is used more in the south of England and 'dinner' or 'tea' up north.
I was in a dilemma when a friend who had moved from the south invited me to supper as supper had always been toast or tea and biscuits.
My dinner/supper/tea tonight will be quiche with lots of vegetables but no potatoes.

Dinner for us and its sausages for us as that is the first pack that fell out of the freezer this morning.

I like the word supper for evening meal, though for us it’s tea. For ours yesterday we had a courgette, pea and mint risotto followed by melon and blueberries with plain yoghurt. Menu chosen by DH because he’s our chef.

We’ve an afternoon with grandchildren today so tonight’s will be microwaved leftovers from Sunday’s roast dinner. Not too much as there’ll be food to tempt us at our pub quiz later (always billed as a free supper).

My fisherman always uses sticky labels on the fish he brings (6 different sorts a month) and they invariably come off - most I recognise but two have foxed me. One lot will be turned into fish cakes I think- the other I’ll defrost and see if that helps- if not into a bouillabaisse they will go 😊.

Tonight its a surprise as I have something unlabelled and unrecognisable out of the freezer.

I love the freezer lottery game!

Last week I took out something that was completely unrecognisable, it was a delicious lentil, spinach and coconut dhal.

I have a marker pen in my kitchen drawer to label the freezer bags, heaven knows why I didn’t use it.

We don't eat supper. I always think it's for 'posh' people.

I thought dinner was for the posh folk unless it was eaten at midday. 😂

Smoked haddock, new potatoes and wilted spinach. Yesterday was a salmon (tinned) sandwich and an apple as I wasn’t particularly hungry.

Turkey Enchiladas.

Tomorrow I have planned

Porridge with chai seeds and tinned peaches in juice
Savoury vegetable rice, piece fruit
Broccoli and cauliflower pasta gratins, Greek yogurt, frozen berries, tsp. honey.

Late eater - using up frozen broccoli, salmon microwaved/poached with dill and cream,

Having had salad and sandwich around 2.

9pm Got hungry so had a mini pork pie. Fruit salad home made or a or a plate of chopped salad and mayo dip, grapes to snack on.

I love raw food.

DH is out so I am having a fish finger sandwich all f with a big bowl of mixed salad, yummy.

Oh that was our tea last night, cod fishfingers on sourdough bread, with mutti ketchup.

For me, it's breakfast, lunch and dinner - except when the last meal is served late, say after 9pm when I call it supper.
No, I don't know why. It's just the way my mind works.
Tonight, supper was smoked haddock in mushroom sauce with new potatoes, baby carrots and English asparagus . Followed by a ready-made crème brûlée. Why? Because I was cooking and that's what came to mind when I was planning menus - and it's asparagus season.

Supper used to be Ovaltine or hot chocolate and a couple of biscuits.

Sadly, we no longer need the extra calories.

Ours was 'Tea' around 5.30pm ,but just a memory now ! We had cheddar and caramelised onion tart,baby potatoes,carrots and peas .For dessert we had fruit and Greek yoghurt

Pasta and tomato sauce this evening after a busy day. So good to have fresh herbs from the garden again to give it all a lift.

No pud when it’s just us. When gchn are here we have fruit or a fruit crumble depending on the weather.

Im currently enjoying my retirement present to myself and am staying for 6 weeks in my favourite place in Portugal. Dinner was a fabulously tasty salmon steak from a lovely market in Tavira. fresh salad with tomatoes that actually taste good washed down with a bottle of vinho verde. Delicious.

We have lunch. Supper is usually soup, cheese or ham sandwich followed by fruit or yoghurt.

Right! I think I may be herded out of town for this, but here goes anyway...

What is supper? Meals for me used to be: breakfast/dinner/tea up until I left London in the 70's, then when I got married and moved to Oxfordshire it became breakfast/lunch/dinner, but I've never knowingly prepared a supper. From what's being said it sounds like lunch or dinner to me, I always assumed supper was a light meal, like sandwiches or a slice of cake sort of thing.

For us supper is an informal evening meal, usually eaten around 7.00pm.

Dinner would be a more formal meal.

For rea we had cold roast pork, bubble and squeak and pickle because we had roast pork yesterday.

No idea about tomorrow, for once it is unplanned.

Supper in my neck of the woods is a before bed snack/meal.A sandwich or toasted cheese or something similar .Around 9.30 or 10 pm.
We have breakfast ,lunch and dinner no suppers these days as we don’t eat after 8pm oh and I don’t do breakfast ,my first meal is around 1 pm
