Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry outside and no doubt chilly here in Brackley this morning.
The usual routine with a bus trip to Bicester to shop and say hello to those I know, I have been wearing a fleece , but I am going to wear my winter coat due to the chilly air outside ,roll on milder weather as to winds .
Health OK ,
Take Care,
Mick

LLFL! My car is green and badly wants to be adventurous, but I won’t let it😁!

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 23-Apr-26 13:59:16

When I bought my last car (Kia Picanto in Adventurous Green) I arrived at the dealership, asked if I could have a test drive (with OH), drove round Oxford, got back to the dealership and said I wanted to buy one. Also asked how much they would give me for my Hyundai. All done in less than an hour - except I had to wait for a couple of months for it to come from South Korea. A seven year warranty too!

paddyann54 Thu 23-Apr-26 13:55:15

I changed my hair style and colour at least every year for a long time.I went a bright blonde in my 30s .My mum and dad were walking behind me and I heard my dad say” that young woman walks just like our Paddy” when I turned round the surprise on their faces still makes me laugh.
I don’t know why they were surprised as I,d been most colours including a deep burgundy and lots of styles.
When my dad used to say I,d ruin my hair I always said “hair grows” ,keep that in mind amd you,ll forget about itand one day not too far off you,ll look in the mirror and see your old self .

Marydoll Thu 23-Apr-26 13:39:50

Thanks R&L, hugs to you too. ❤️

I was going to buy an Aygo, went to the dealership, to find it had moved.
I went next door and immediately bought an MG, which I love.

Today, I went into the pharmacy and all the ladies gasped and one said, ^ I love your hair!!^. 😂

RosesandLilac Thu 23-Apr-26 13:25:53

Oh Marydoll, my heart goes out to you 🤗. I’ve just got home, as usual DH hasn’t said a word ( I guess that’s better than being told it’s awful, is it?)
Anyway, my haircut is even shorter and more choppy now. I’ll totally silver haired, have been for years. I’m kidding myself that I look like Judi Dench but it’s similar 😃
I had a huge detour to go to the garage, due to an overturned lorry on a key roundabout blocking my route. Never mind, it was a gloriously sunny drive.
I’m going back next week to test drive a Toyota Aygo automatic, never driven one before. It’s an older car, immaculate condition, will have a full year’s MOT and service. Keeping my fingers crossed.
DH is very dismissive so I’m avoiding in asking his opinion 😁I’m hoping I enjoy driving it on a test drive next Wednesday, hopefully it’ll suit me fine and if it doesn’t I will have another think.
Sending you a big hug and love Marydoll x

Hello from Co Armagh where the wind has eased a bit
I had a message yesterday afternoon did I want the Covid jab , they had some at the local dispensary
Threw on my coat and got jabbed , I can’t stay awake today , so I’m blaming the Covid vaccine!
Thursday we have Mass , I limped up to light a candle , I can’t fit my rollator through the Chapel door without a fuss , so was concentrating on my stick
The candelabra is at the front of the chapel, I didn’t notice the priest had stared , but he just ignored me and carried on ,
I’m not usually as daft !
Thoughts with the poorly , the bad haircuts , the stubborn OHs

Georgesgran Thu 23-Apr-26 12:47:11

I asked if I could have the RSV this morning at the same time as my Covid jab, UTBB but was told I had to make a separate appointment for that. It’ll keep until after my holidays.

Usedtobeblonde Thu 23-Apr-26 11:01:56

I am back from the surgery now and enjoying a coffee.
I was offered an RSV vaccination as well as the Covid booster, after a moments hesitation I had it done.
It is a one off and the nurse said it is a nasty illness “ especially in older people”
I have to have them in one arm so I hope I don’t react.

R&L I feel so sad for you that you are having to wait and wait, it is not fair at all.

MD I was going to say ,only three weeks between a bad haircut and a good one but someone beat me to it.

Gagagran I hope you have reassuring news about your brother.

Now to decide what to do , anything or nothing “ to rest my arm” I think that option wins.

Redcar Thu 23-Apr-26 10:52:59

marydoll my very thick hair always looks lovely for two days after I’ve been to the hairdresser, then it’s downhill until the next cut. She left it longer this time and now I look as though I’ve been pulled through a hedge backwards. Only two weeks until the next cut!
gaga a long anxious day for you. flowers

Georgesgran Thu 23-Apr-26 10:18:53

A late good morning from an overcast, cool Durham.
I’ve had my Covid jab and I’m on my way to meet a friend for coffee.
Hair cut this afternoon and I’m going to ask for a shorter cut (😢MD give it a fortnight) this time.
Later a friend is coming to do a few outdoor jobs for me. I can actually do them myself, but didn’t want to turn the offer down.
R&L it’s little wonder you’re overthinking. DH’s ‘team’ were always pro active - your’s isn’t good enough!
Lots of others not doing so well today - I hope you improve soon.

Best wishes to all. X

Marydoll Thu 23-Apr-26 10:13:59

Gaga I hope all goes well for your brother.💐

Sorry for moaning and feeling sorry for myself. It has been the last straw, when I have been feeling very fragile.
Thanks for the suggestions.

The sunglasses tip won't work, I wear varifocals and wouldn't be able to see. I do have three pairs, so perhaps I could wear one pair on my head and one one my nose. That might work.

I look awful in a hat, that was with longer hair, I don't think a hat is a viable solution.

I already have white highlights in my own red hair, so that isn't an option.

I apologise to those on here, who have alopaecia, (my friend wears a wig), or have lost their hair through illness, I have been insensitive.

GrannySomerset Thu 23-Apr-26 10:06:43

Am going to stay with DD as she is being awarded an honorary degree by her local university for her work over twenty years in widening access to the arts - well deserved and I am so proud of her, and just wish her father could be here too. This means leaving the house for two nights and you would think I was going on a major adventure; it’s so long since I was away overnight and I seem to have a list of things to check, switch off, water etc. I’m sure I never used to be like this!

Hope the promised good weather brings joy and relief especially to those sad, anxious or unhappy.

Jaxjacky Thu 23-Apr-26 10:04:56

My best wishes for your brothers surgery Gagagran.

TheWeirdoAgain60 Thu 23-Apr-26 10:03:59

Good morning, Michael12 and everyone!

I've been here at work since 4:30 am, so I'm on a 1/2-hour break! Got a can of Monster Ultra and a box of Ferrero Rocher Milk Hazelnut Bar!

On my way here this morning, this was about 4:15, as I only live a 10-minute walk away from work, I made friends with a gorgeous little tabby cat! I passed someone's concrete drive, and she came trotting over and sat a few feet away from me and meowed! Cats never meow at other cats or other animals, just people, so I was greatly honoured! I meowed back and told her how utterly beautiful she is, and I thanked her for greeting me! ''I love you sooo much, little fluffy one'' I said, and she smiled! AWWWWW! I seriously wish I could have picked her up and taken her home to live with me!

I get paid tomorrow, the 24th! WEEEE!

What should I buy myself? My laptop, I've had for years, and it's worked very well, but it's getting slow and senile in its old age, like me, really! So I'm thinking of Currys, a computer monitor with a keyboard, 28-inch screen, they have them for about £500.00. As long as I can either plug in a left-handed mouse or use a wireless/rechargeable one, as I just can't use computers without mice!

Last night I snuggled in with my Percy RoboKitten, a plate of Spar Southern Fried Chicken Poppers, dollops of mayo and vinegar, a huge carton of Strawberry Moo Milk, and watched A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story. Lucy Boynton was absolutely brilliant as Ruth, her stunning looks, body language, everything.

Ruth was systematically r*ped by her own father from when she was 11, and roughed up by him, which apparently wasn't included in the details in her trial. Then she married a dentist who turned out to be an alcoholic who beat her and ignored their kids, then she got involved with David Blakely, who beat her and caused her to miscarry when he punched her in the gut.

This gorgeous, brilliant and hard-working lady was treated like filth by various people over the years. She did a brilliant job in killing Blakely and should never have been hanged for his murder! Ruth's grandkids, Laura Enston, Stephen Beard, James Enston, and Chloe Beard, are driving the effort to have her pardoned. I hope they succeed!

Lucy wasn't given any acting awards for her incredible acting as Ruth, but she should have been!

Have a good one, all of you! Now I'm back to the cash till and desk!

HelterSkelter1 Thu 23-Apr-26 09:53:48

Marydoll. I find that sunglasses on the top of my head have disguised some bad haircuts over the years. It somehow takes the eyes off the hairstyle and keeps wispy bits back. And looks as though I may be off skiing...even though I don't ski!!

Gagagran thoughts with you today xxx

Gagagran wishing all the best to your big brother
Marydoll when hairdressers hear the words thinning out and easy to manage they do seem to go over the top hopefully it will soon grow a bit. I am sure you would say to any of us that it was your DILs choice not to ask her parents so you must not let it play on your mind.

Grandmabatty Thu 23-Apr-26 09:29:53

gagagran all best wishes to your brother.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I'm a bit late up but the washing is up on the line in the sun and I have been busy replying to messages as you do.

I tried sitting outside but am now inside my greenhouse which is a lot warmer. I have chairs in here.

As others say R&L . it really is not good enough. Though I must add that there always seemed a long wait for DH between each scan and the consultant appointment. Sometimes disappointment as we were fobbed off with a Registrar he'd never met and who treated him like a dim, deaf old man when he wasn't.

I hope it goes ok for you. 🤞

I hope St George's Day and Shakespeare's birthday stays sunny.

Here are some St George's mushrooms picked and eaten a few days ago. Yum

Gagagran Thu 23-Apr-26 09:01:13

Good Morning all from a sunny central south coast.

Still recovering from the horrendous gastritis flare up on Monday but trying to get back to normal and eating very carefully.

Managed to get to choir last night and glad I did. The concentration needed helped to take my mind off my health issues. It's always good to see my friends there too.

My big brother, in the Isle of Man is facing major surgery today. He recently had some more toes amputated due to diabetes but his foot has not healed up and they have had to come to the only treatment available to possibly save his life. This involves revascularisation of his leg as the veins in his lower leg have calcified and blood supply is not getting through. It is a long operation and he has opted not to be resuscitated if he doesn't make it through. He is 88 and in poor health. So today, my thoughts and heart will be in the Isle of Man whilst waiting for an update.

There is always something for somebody as my Mum used to say. Wishing all GNs a peaceful and good day or the best one possible in their particular circumstances.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 23-Apr-26 09:00:47

Aw Marydoll my old dad used to say “the only difference between a good haircut and a bad one is about six weeks!”
Hang on in there …. 😉

grandMattie Thu 23-Apr-26 08:59:06

Thank you for reminding me that it was St. George’s Day today, fgt.
Both my and DH’s fathers were Georges, so DS1’s second name is?….

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 23-Apr-26 08:51:30

Morning all from a sunny West Oxfordshire.

Yesterday was fun. We saw a sci fi film called Project Hail Mary. We bought M&S sandwiches and chocolates to eat in the cinema. Afterwards we went to a jeweller where OH bought me a watch for my forthcoming birthday.

Today will be mainly laundry and ironing. I also have to buy a birthday present for my great nephew in Australia.

MaryD - I had an embarrassingly dreadful haircut a few years ago. I have a high forehead and the stylist decided to cut my fringe extremely short! One of my work colleagues kept muttering ‘fringe fringe’ under her breath! Don’t forget there is always the hat option.

R&L I am so sorry you still haven’t heard anything. Could you ask your GP?

Have a good day everyone.
