Good Morning Everyone,
A dark start to the day here in Brackley this morning.
I am up to my usual routine after breakfast with the bus journey to Bicester to shop etc.
Health wise ,Bowel system seems to be out of order .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from sunny Lancashire. MrB and I have had a lovely walk along the Dock and enjoyed a spot of birdwatching.

Wishing you all a good day whatever you’re doing 🌹

The system keeps logging me out so although I read daily I couldn’t be bothered to post, but so many “friends” seem to be having a really tough time and I wanted to sympathise. Life does seem to have it in for us sometimes.

I am waiting for a friend and her daughter to arrive to collect a pine chest of drawers which I no longer need and which is the right size for her new flat. Getting it down the stairs will be interesting! No other plans for the day apart from deciding which of the clothes stored in that chest are for a charity shop - most of them, I think, though I am wearing a blue sweater which I had forgotten I owned. Definitely a reward for a good deed.

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Quiet day yesterday, DD went out for the day with old school friends and DS left after doing a couple of jobs.

I thought I had an opera co rehearsal in the evening, but it has been rearranged for next week.
Off to the hairdresser today, roots, highlights and a trim and DD will leave for the south.

Thoughts to Roses&L and all🌺

Thank you, karmalady. I have seen Barkeepers Friend, is it the cream or the powder you use and the Bake o Glide looks very interesting also

BlueSapphire Thu 16-Apr-26 08:57:59

Good morning everyone from an overcast East Northants, at DD's.

Just about to set off on our journey to Wiltshire to visit my (younger than me) DSIS, who has been in a care home now for about 5 years. She has quite advanced dementia, so we are unsure how she will be. I am quite prepared to find that she doesn't know me; she didn't recognise our DBrother yesterday.

Had a pleasant evening at Ladies' Wine group yesterday; a bottle of prosecco first, then tasting and comparing delicious roses.

Not read any posts yet, will catch up later.
Wishing all a pleasant day.

grandMattie Thu 16-Apr-26 08:54:57

gingster, the interesting thing is that, apart from the federation’s behaviour, the whole membership would go back and re-enrol in the WI in a breath!

Marydoll Thu 16-Apr-26 08:52:49

Good morning all from a showery Glasgow, where it is 8°C.

R&L, I am pleased to hear that your scan went as well as could be expected. I hope you can start your treatment soon.
Many years ago, I had a similar scan and much to my delight, I was advised not to return to school that day, because I was radioactive, The HT was furious, because I had a day off! 😂

Things are not going well with DH. His BP is still high and unstable. No matter what I say or do, it is wrong, he is now at the wallowing stage, interspersed with angry outbursts. I don't appreciate how unwell he is. Oh the irony!
I am struggling to deal with his behaviour. He would argue, that black is white!

I haven't told my children about his behaviour and they are burying their heads in the sand anyway., they have enough stress in their work life.

Usedtobeblonde, something you wrote a few days ago, resonated with me. You were out with your DIL and wanted to make the outing last as long as possible.
Despite being exhausted, ast I went to a public meeting last night about the church restoration.
I was still in church doing jobs, an hour after it finished, I didn't want to go home.

Yesterday, everything finally got to me. I was feeling pretty awful, then both my hair straighteners ( a third world problem) and my PC died. I had a full blown, meltdown, it was the last straw. I sat in my craft room, sobbing.

The irony is that my BP is creeping up to DH's level, but that is OK, for it is always that high!!!! 😪
The power cuts, there were three, caused apps on my PC to become corrupted, Microsoft 365 and Outlook are no more. I could not get into my parish admin, nor mailing lists and

I had so much to do 😭

I managed to eventually get it to boot up, just enough to transfer everything onto a portable drive. It took two drives and still I ran out of space.
I need to buy a new PC, methinks.
I could not bear to delete the Maths and French programmes, I wrote for the cluster Primary schools. Ridiculous really. I won't ever need them again.
Most of it is stored on the Cloud anyway, but I wanted to back it up, I am always over cautious.

Today, I am not leaving the house. Housework has been sadly neglected and I have so much to plan, for the move out of the church, this weekend.

Enjoy your new car Ash.
Dragonfly, I hope you are feeling less fragile and Mr Gingster is making some progress. 💐
Susan, I hope today goes well.♥️

Enjoy your day folks, whatever your plans. Best wishes to all, who are struggling and apologies, if I have missed anyone.x

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Beautiful sunshine.

I slept in as I had inadvertently cancelled the alarm!
Never mind. I need the sleep.

After yoga, someone is buying my antique singer treadle sewing machine. Then the estate agent is coming to get my house on the market - arrange photographers etc.
A friend will be here to help me. a bit like when you need someone at the doctors!

Ash I do believe cars are just too comfortable which is why there are so many of them on the roads. Now if only buses were more like first class travel...
😂 Enjoy the new car.

Rosesandlilac I'm glad the scan was straightforward and over with . Now you can get back to normal for a while.

The funeral must have been so sad Grandmabatty flowers
Isn't there a bus to the theatre? Enjoy it.

I've booked a table at our street fair on Saturday to sell off some of my clutter. A friend is encouraging me so hopefully she'll help and it won't rain.

Sorry to read that quite a few of you aren't well.
Good wishes to all.

Good morning all sunny but chilly here in Co Armagh ,we had heavy showers and hailstones yesterday
We are looking at greenhouses , our present one is creaking in the wind so looking for something sturdier
I’ll trot up the hill to Mass shortlyand light a few candles for the poorly and the carers
When I say up to , we are on the high point of the canal , so everywhere is up or down

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 16-Apr-26 08:44:06

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s sunny although showers are forecast. I’m late on parade as Yorkshire Lass has just FaceTimed me for half an hour. A lovely start to my day.

Best get a wriggle on now though as I have a routine blood test and blood pressure check at my GP surgery then I’m bobbing over to see my stepfather who is much saddened as his 100 year old brother in Edgbaston is dying. Poor man, we all feel for him so much he is devastated. Age is irrelevant when you are losing someone you love dearly.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 16-Apr-26 08:32:28

Good morning, my plan is to go to Lakeside for a mooch round the shops. Online browsing is ok, but I need to get out.

Thinking of all our morning friends with troubles, hurdles to get over and illness 🙋‍♀️

Jaxjacky Thu 16-Apr-26 08:12:42

Morning from a damp cloudy S Hants.
Pleased your scan went smoothly R&L anxiety is exhausting, no wonder you felt drained.
How lovely Ash I’d love a heated steering wheel for my Raynauds hands.
Yesterday was admin and phone calls, including a long one with a very good friend. Early evening we met another friend in our local two halves of shandy, that’s me done!
Have a reasonable day all.
🦩🦩

Gingster Thu 16-Apr-26 08:11:42

Good morning all.

A relatively good night and Dh slept well. His friend visited but I had to cut him short as Dh was struggling and had a bad turn.
The chiropodist came and managed to do his feet, 👍.

The meds that the hospital sent home with us really upset his system so we’re back to just the ‘normal’ meds now. 🤞.

I did an Ocado delivery yesterday. The first one ever. It took me about an hour. Hopefully it will get easier. 😕😵‍💫.

Dd was great yesterday with helping in any way she could. Shopping, bed changing , cooking etc. She’s great when she’s well.

GrandMatty “disgraceful bullying, intimidating and threatening behaviour “ … 😳. And this is the WI!!!!!.
Goodness me!

Take care all and have a gentle day 🌺

monk08 Thu 16-Apr-26 08:06:41

Good morning all from a sunny Black country.
No plans for the day other than general tidy up and a nip into Aldi for a few bits.
Meeting friends at the club this evening.
Will catch up with everybody's happenings later tablet needs charging.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans ☀️.

EkwaNimitee Thu 16-Apr-26 08:00:25

Good morning Mick and everyone from brightish but cloudy Carlisle.
Yesterday I popped into town to collect my partial denture from the dentist. Unusually, I couldn't park outside as I normally can that early so had to use a car park. This has the downside of needing to pass M&S food hall so naturally I had to go in! I came out with a ready meal and more asparagus. I'm stuffing myself with the latter at the moment, the season isn't long enough for me.
Back to some bathroom cleaning, admin and reading.

Today I'm out again, to the surgery to discuss the results of my bone scan. I must get my queries sorted out. Should be back for a late lunch and an afternoon of sorting out. At some point I will fit the ironing in.

Do have a good, non-problematical day everyone if you can.

Liberty Thu 16-Apr-26 07:52:38

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk although rain, which we haven’t had for a long time,is forecast later. Everywhere is very dry and the part of our paths that art just clay are showing signs of cracks.

We have a local roofer coming shortly to put a cowl on the chimney pot which lost one recently. Having done a preliminary visit a week or so ago,he is coming with his ‘mate’ and decided, although we have a 3 storey house with a steeply pitched roof,he can do it without scaffolding.

I shall miss it as I have my stretch class and then I’m going off to meet a friend for coffee and cake. I hope the work on the roof is all done when I get home.

Hope today is a peaceful one for all.

luluaugust Thu 16-Apr-26 07:47:34

Good morning from an overcast W Kent. Waiting for a call from the doctor today so just a day in packing ready for a break in Norfolk.
Best wishes to all

harrigran Thu 16-Apr-26 07:44:48

Good morning from a bright NE after overnight rain.
Yesterday's dental appointment was awkward, there is very little parking so have to get dropped off.
Dentist told me that I need another appointment, unfortunately 2 days before I go on holiday.
Today I have my covid vaccination. The pharmacy is next door to the Optician so I think I will try and sort out an eye test.

I imagine my sister will ring today, the last message I got from her was from Heathrow awaiting flight to Newcastle.
Have a good day everyone.

dragonfly46 Thu 16-Apr-26 07:44:30

Good morning from Leicestershire.

I filled the car with stuff at the garden centre then left the car out. When I remembered to put it away in the garage the heavens opened and I got soaked!

Today is a stay at home day as we are expecting a wine delivery.

Pleased your scan went smoothly RAL hopefully you won’t have to wait long for the result.

Wishing everyone as good a day as possible.

Redcar Thu 16-Apr-26 07:42:44

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Bright at the moment but lots of cloud about too. I had to wait in for a delivery yesterday so went for my walk in the afternoon. I started out in bright sunshine, but there were a lot of very dark clouds about. They went over without a drop of rain falling on us. I had to move the very heavy parcel into the garage, didn’t lift it, but just pushing it made my back hurt a lot. It’s a bit better this morning.
I have another telephone asthma check this evening, hopefully it will be more encouraging than the one I had on Monday.

ashcombe enjoy your new car! Especially the heated seats and steering wheel! Such luxury!

rosesandlilac I hope you don’t have to wait too long for the results of your scan and that some treatment will be available to help you.

whiteswan how sad for your best friend, but comforting that she is able to stay with kind friends when she isn’t visiting her DH.

Best wishes to all who are poorly or caring for loved ones who are suffering in any way.
Have as good a day as is possible folks.

Gagagran Thu 16-Apr-26 07:41:00

Good Morning all from a cloudy and damp central south coast. Feels cool but not cold and there are signs that it has rained .

Choir last night was better than expected and we finally managed to make a better attempt at the very difficult piece our MD has imposed on us! I felt encouraged about it and think we might manage to get there with it! It could be lovely if we can.

Nothing much planned for today. I am going to make a large cauliflower into cauliflower cheese with crispy bacon on top - always tasty and delicious. I much prefer cauliflower to broccoli. I think it was George Bush who, as President refused to have broccoli in the White House as he disliked it so much!

Glad you had a nice birthday, bar the singing of Happy Birthday, GM. The phone call from your DS surely made up for that!

Thinking as always of all our strugglers and hope today brings some ease and comfort for us all. sunshine

Grandmabatty Thu 16-Apr-26 07:37:38

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and bright. Lots of rain about though, on the windows and the cars. Rosesandlilacs I'm glad the scan wasn't too bad. Ashcombe I'm new to a heated steering wheel too. It's great. Susan I hope you are ok today and the medical appointment goes off without incident.
Yesterday was the funeral of my friend's son. It was desperately sad but also heartwarming. The crematorium was packed and the service was conducted mainly by his friends who nade it a celebration of his life. My friend and her husband and daughter looked so tired but spoke to everyone at the meal afterwards. People had come from usa and London as well as more locally.
I had a terrible night's sleep last night. No reason apart from sore feet and palpitations. Today I'm going with a friend to see The Red Shoes in Edinburgh. Its a matinee performance which we both prefer. I'm looking forward to it, although he is very fit and wants to walk everywhere. My feet won't cope. I've suggested a taxi from the station, but I don't think he's keen. Oh well, hopefully I'll make it back home later. Have a good day all.

brook2704 Thu 16-Apr-26 07:34:24

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a bright sunny start to the day
Enjoy your new car Ash especially the heated seats!
I’ve a much quieter day planned today, hopefully I’ll get some gardening done. We’re going out this evening to the local theatre so might go into town late afternoon and have something to eat before the show.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Georgesgran Thu 16-Apr-26 07:30:38

Good Morning from a dry, Durham.
Thank you for the comments on DD2’s Blue Badge ‘fiasco’. She has, of course, appealed and was also told she might have to attend for an assessment - ‘bring it on’ was her reply. (Plus some under breath expletives). She started her application last month and has never had any problems with renewals.
I had a busy afternoon with the TV Aerial man and the ‘blind’ man arriving together. Both jobs done and my new blinds are in stock and being fitted Friday afternoon.

Today, I’m meeting my poorly friend for coffee. Haven’t seen her for weeks, as she’s immunocompromised, so I didn’t want to pass on that cold type virus I had.
Some dusting and polishing at home later.

Best wishes to all. X

Usedtobeblonde Thu 16-Apr-26 07:24:42

Good morning from Stockport, although the heating has come on it still feels quite chilly.
Yesterday we had a sudden shower just as I was going to my friend’s house but it had stopped by the time I left.
She is increasingly muddled in her thinking and I hope family are aware.
They don’t visit her often as they both live away but I hope they pick up in phone calls how she is.
I managed some more cupboard tidying and disposed of a bag full of cables and plugs whose purpose has been long forgotten.
A usual quiet day today , it suits me more and more.
Usual kind thoughts to all those with sadness and health concerns.
