All posters really are dying to do on this thread is a gigantic pile on to anyone who has the courage to write that they will be voting Reform.All you have to do to see this is to read all the posts.

In any case, Reform cannot win by themselves but would have to be in a coalition with Conservatives.

Many older voters will vote Reform and changing the triple lock would loose them votes, do not dismiss the threat posed by Farage. As for election promises they are not worth the paper they are written on by any party

If Starmer has poor results in the May elections and a loony left leader is elected that will boost Reform votes at the next GE.

Actually Fallingstar the ‘loony left’ mentioned by David49 was about an MP whereas posters seem quite comfortable reading that supporters of Reform are ‘knuckle draggers’.

I honestly think that all the sneering is because of fear, real fear that Reform are doing so well in the polls.
But it’s a long time until a GE and a week is a long time in politics.

It is always the case that there will be a minority view on a thread, and as long as people aren’t rude or personal, and there are no personal attacks, everybody is just saying what they think, which they have every right to do. I don’t think this only happens on threads about Reform either, there are very different views on virtually all subjects.

Individual posting styles are evident on all threads though, aren’t they? I don’t think it’s right or possible to stop people posting whatever they see fit, as long as it doesn’t break the rules, people can’t be controlled by somebody else telling them they don’t like their posting style or what they are saying.

When people stop discussing the actual issues and start complaining that they are being picked on, when they actually have not directly been, in my opinion its a sure sign that their particular arguments are not strong enough to hold up against criticism

Instead of complaining:

Why not say why its apparently OK to support someone who would have taken us into this appalling war

Someone who is rarely in Clacton

Someone who is amassing a personal fortune including making videos with some anti-semitic content for money

A party who is not in fact making anyones lives better as per promises in the councils they have control of

So if you are voting for Reform, tell us why we should be voting for them too, instead of said grumbling?

I was thinking about starting a thread about the Senedd election, because I think the result is going to be where we really see the effect of PR for the first time.
Plaid and Reform are virtually neck and neck in the polls, the Tories look to be wiped out, Labour will have many less seats, and Greens will gain some, maybe a couple for the Lib Dem’s.

If Reform do win the most seats, they will not have anything like an overall majority because of PR, and none of the other parties will work with them, as they are all left leaning. We will most likely end up with a PlaidGreen or Plaid/Labour coalition. It will be very interesting. 🤨

Whatever view we have most agree that Starmer is a useless PM I havnt seen a post that thinks he is good for a very long time.

He is a centrist I agreed with most of his economic policy 2 yrs ago a balance mix of growth and economies, since then he has made many U Turns and lost much of the support he did have. I don't give much chance of the current policies being successful and expect a horrible coalition of Tory/Reform at the next GE.

We will see what happens in the May elections I hope Starmer remains as PM because despite his weakness he is still the best we have got.

Most British voters are centre left or centre right Meandrogrog. That includes the majority of Gransnetters. Reform and the Greens are the furthest from the centre, so less people agree with them. It’s that simple.

Well, David, here I am saying that I am glad to have Mr Starmer as Prime Minister in these tumultuous times. He seems a grown up in a world led by toddlers. I think that he has made many mistakes, but he is a safe pair of hands, and that is much needed at this time.
Please let me head off at the pass any "loony left" insults by saying that I feel that his predecessor, Mr Sunak , would have handled matters equally as well.
I am glad that Ms Truss is not at the helm.
