Good morning everyone from a dry north Wales coast where I’m plotting a Swedish Death Clean at Dad’s today 😱 (daren’t call it that to his face of course or he’ll go into a further decline whilst we await test results) but his home is an absolute tip and hasn’t been bottomed since my stepmother died over a decade ago…🤦‍♀️

I know almost everyone here is having various health issues, some aren’t even posting 💐but we soldier on and it lifts my soul to see stunning photos of travels and auroras, also to read of trips out and about - thank you x

My Maintenance Man here at P G Towers has been fitting a new personnel door to the garage this week and keeps informing me of how much it would cost if I’d got a man in…🤔. I suggested I’d probably save a lot in board and lodging in addition to all the added creature comforts…😉

Good morning from a dryish Bristol. We seem to have missed the worst of the rain yesterday.
Interesting that the management have finally found a temporary, agency “warden” from this Monday. “They” have been whinging about the expense, although we have not received a farthing back on our fees, even though we haven’t had anyone around for 7 months. I’ve been out every morning so have no idea what she is like.
Successful shopping in Bristol, and a bus was waiting for me at the stop.
Re. chopping onions, I’m surprised that not more of you know this hack for “onion hands”. All I do is rub my hands on a stainless steel item, and “Bingo” all smell gone.
FAB cafe this morning. Apparently, we have raised more than £1,300 on coffees over 12 months. We charge £2 “donation” for coffee, including cake and refills. A very cheap morning for most.
At the PCC last night, we were told that the new heating system should be done within 8-10 weeks. This will be great, if a bit late for this winter. I think that most accepted the situation with the usual British sang froid/stiff upper lip.

Good morning from Malta where the less said about the weather the better!
The wind has passed, thank goodness, but caused a lot of damage in coastal areas. Thankfully no injuries reported.

It is still raining and looks like the rest of the week will be wet and miserable. Not cold though, high is 14°C.

I’ve been up since 4am watching the tennis from Australia and have been joined by the cat Winston so I’m lovely and warm. I wish I could keep him!

Pantglas2 I am trying to implement the Swedish clean method too. We have accumulated so much stuff over the years mainly stuff from years ago when the children were little. I am going to attack it little and often. I will consult with DC in case they want me to keep any of their old toys or if they want them for their children.

Yesterday I sorted through and deleted some old documents from my previous work which had been stored on my computer. I also shredded some old paperwork no longer needed.

Today I hope to sew up one of the figures for the knitted nativity scene I'm working on. I say 'hope' because I'm a big procrastinator when it comes to sewing up knitting. I would much rather just knit.

I should written down all the the things that people say and do. Some hilarious moments.

One time a lady came back in having lost something. ‘Have you seen my Blackberry’. she enquired .
Well we searched all around but couldn’t find it. ‘ Shall I ring it?’ I asked . She looked at me quizzically. ‘We will hear it ring ‘ I said. She looked at me as if I had lost my mind. After much confusion it turned out she had lost her black beret!!

We were on the floor laughing. We couldn’t speak.

Good morning from soggy, wet s somerset, the skies will be grey

Ash my new passport arrived yesterday, No fast tracking and it only took 5 days intotal

I get on with house maintenance jobs when I see them, yesterday morning I did all the interior drains and plugholes. Not a wonderfully pleasant job but undo then soda, hot water, brushing and Bob`s your uncle. I finished all of them in an hour

I only need to sew the 8 buttons on my skirt today and it can be put into my wardrobe. It is far too nice and complicated to wear for everyday use, when I am more than happy with the simple A line elasticated style, which takes a morning to make. It will be perfect for more `public` times, starting with a celebration of a life that I am attending. I still need that colour in my wardrobe for everyday wear and I think I will buy another suitable length for an A-line pull on

One of the two springers that dgd had has developed two broken elbows and is having an operation today, to re-purpose the ulna bones and put screws in. They did not insure them but the puppy will be able to go onto gundog training, as long as there are no infections. She is devastated after having a pony and two dogs pts during the last two years. My role as centre of the wheel, advisory and comforting mum continues at 78

An indoor day today but I am hoping for a walk about town. I will be making muesli and a soup

Good morning from a dark, rainy, mild, Cornwall. The sun was setting as I arrived at College yesterday evening, painting the north coast with a lovely range of pinks. The photo is of my grandchildren at sunset on a beach a few miles from where I was.

And so last evening we learnt how to use blow torches with the flames powered by our blowing into tubes to melt the solder. We made copper rings using silver solder and although they were small we were all very proud of them. The workshop was very noisy with flames burning and hammering and sawing. A hive of industry. Much later two buses returned me home by 11o'clock.

I should be going to my library craft group this morning but my gas boiler is dripping water, albeit very slowly, so the engineer who came yesterday to service it may need to return today. Turns out he is from Essex and used to go mudlarking on the Thames so he was very interested in my collection of beach finds, especially the fragments of clay pipes, which he had never seen before.

After his visit I'll trundle across the road to my local library and find a book or three to borrow and will have a coffee in Wetherspoons.

I am off to the gym this morning then I have booked myself a body massage and facial at the beauty salon nearby, hopefully it will help my sleep.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is still dark. I think we are in for a wet day.

Yesterday’s session at school was fun and productive. I moved two pupils up the reading scheme and it’s always gratifying to be able to do that and they go back to their classrooms walking on air.

This morning I have to nip over to the garden centre, and then this afternoon it is writer’s group. The session today will be led by one of the librarians who is lovely and works very hard on our behalf. I can’t say I like writing ‘on the hoof’ but it forces you to step up to the plate, which is good.

Good Morning everyone from a dark and wet south coast. We are promised strong winds and heavy rain this morning - oh Joy!

Our lovely cleaners are coming this morning and will soon make us spick and span again. They are two very chatty sisters who talk to each other non-stop whilst they are here for the hour it takes them to clean right through our small home. Worth every penny to us with our physical issues.

Impressive fund raising GM from your coffee and cake mornings and great value. DH and his cycling chums always call for coffee and cake on their outings and he reckons the average cost (without refills) is £6.

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a very dark, still and chilly morning in North Yorkshire. I am slowly getting back to something like normal, so now waiting for Bach before 7, to both enjoy and to clear my head. Less coughing at the moment, but not stopped completely and feel less ill, but absolutely weary , where the least thing seems an effort.

Yesterday I didnt do a great deal. As I was feeling a bit better, I had intended to go out, for a bit of shopping and to call in at upfront anda couple of other places. However, between the chilly weather, and when I was seated having plans, but when I got up being in a lot of pain, the plans were abandoned, and I didnt even go for a walk round the flat. In the evening I stayed home, didnt even feel up to going to the games night, but actually that was sensible, as I dont think my back would have stood up to 2 hours sitting, and my brain would have been more concerned with finding a way to sit without pain than the strategies of the game.

Today I am hoping that I will feel a bit brighter later on. There are a few bits that I would like to get from the market, and it would be good to speak to another human being too, but partly depends on the weather. If it pours with rain then I will give up the market idea and go in the car to the supermarket , but perhaps I will be lucky and it will be dry enough to go on the buggy. Other than that the main aim for today is to go to the whist tonight. I do look forward to the game, the company and it gets my brain working, but having played for years , doesnt take a lot of concentration, which is a good job today!! One thing I did manage to do yesterday was to ring the travel insurance and cancel their planned automatic renewal of my insurance. Last year I had to work out the best way to be insuraed for my trip to canada and it was a years one, which had to be worldwide to cover Canada.
It worked well but I shant be doing such a trip again as far as I can tell and most certainly wont be paying insurance for any travel until I have some plans to travel. It annoys me that we have to ring them to cancel, and other things where firms make assumptions that you are automatically going to renew anything. I dont mind being reminded that something is coming to an end, but telling you that they are going to automatically renew something is not acceptable when it makes you responsible for cancelling it.

Mick hope your delivery comes early. I hate waiting in for something, as I can never settle to doing much until they arrive. Pantglas, when you have sorted your Dads place out, I could do with you here! There is plenty needs sorting, but under sods law, on days I feel ready to do some sorting, I dont feel physically up to doing much. As I never know which day I am going to feel up to doing it I would need to rub a magic lamp to summon help! GrandMattie, well done on all the money you have raised with your lovely coffee and cakes. Thankyou for the stainless steel tip. As a great lover of onions I will be pleased to try this out, and am surprised that I have never heard this before.

Well still very dark outside, I need to get myself moving , and hope to find some enthusiasm for something , but cant say I have any great ideas so far. Hopefully daylight will help me to start doing something worthwhile. I wish you all a good day and success in whatever you have planned.

Good morning. I’m not sure what the weather is doing but DH is up and getting ready to go to golf so it must be reasonable.
Yesterday’s visit to my Sister in Law was not a particularly happy one. My brother died just a year ago and I think after all the sorting out and adjustments it has really hit her. She was quite down Added to that her Son ( my.nephew) who has various medical and mental issues has just been diagnosed with cancer. She and my brother had so much stress over the years. I wish we could do more for her .
Anyway a pottering morning for me and then Craft club this afternoon, my turn to run the project.

Good morning from damp South Lanarkshire.

As I made myself comfortable on the train yesterday I heard an odd little squawk and turned to see that three men sitting opposite me had a budgie on the table. It was quite happily nibbling nuts and seeds as the men chatted and stayed there throughout the journey. Very odd, but made me smile.

Unfortunately DH’s surgery was postponed again, he had an appointment with the surgeon yesterday late afternoon and as they chatted there was a call from the theatre manager to say that due to staff illness the theatre would be out of use for a few days. The surgeon rang his secretary and arranged another date in three weeks time.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s fairly mild, cloudy and drying out after last night’s heavy rain. A showery day is forecast. I went for a walk yesterday morning, then came home and had a coffee and read the paper. I wiped down the kitchen units, which made my back ache for a short while. I visited my dementia friend in the afternoon, but she was asleep most of the time.
It’s chair yoga in the village hall this morning, I hope it’s warmer this week, it was really cold in there last time.

Good morning from a damp and cold Black Country.

A pleasant afternoon yesterday. My friend and I went to see the film 'I Swear'. Based on a true story it was very emotional, I thoroughly recommend it. £2 each with coffee and biscuit. We even had the recliner seats!

Then a very late lunch at one of the Lounge Cafe Bars. We both had the Budda Bowl which is delicious.

Then saw a pair of Walking Boots reduced to £17.49 in Deichmann. Couldn't resist, so tried on and bought them.

A free day today, no real plans so go with the flow. I did have my car insurance renewal which was almost £60 more than last year, so trawling the net to find a better deal. Last year they only increased it by £7.

Morning Mick, morning All. I can see rain on the window, our corner of Somerset is forecast a wet day, again after very heavy showers yesterday, the river flood warnings are in place.

Our meeting was much less difficult than anticipated, a below inflation increase to contend with. Very low attendance though which is such a shame. Lunch was good, Mr C wants to return on Friday for their excellent fish and chips. I’m not arguing

Some grocery shopping this morning after collecting my new glasses. Dust to move around this afternoon. The sorting bug has hit here, did a couple of hours yesterday and will get back to that tomorrow.

Yesterday was a bit of a washout for me as I came over pale and wobbly, challenged by some infection. I managed to pace myself through a few jobs with rests in between. I finished my book, which surprised me as I was only 60% through...the rest was the footnotes!

I've had a disturbed night's sleep, waking up every hour or so.
Nevertheless I shall be off on a day trip to Newcastle before long. Perhaps I shall doze on the train, though I don't usually. I like to stay awake and admire the scenery.

Morning all from a rainy West Oxfordshire.

It is OH’s 74th birthday today! He has started organising the U3A lunch group and they are meeting today. So that’s how we are celebrating.

We may be going in separate cars as I have to wait in for a call from my GP at around 11 am. This is to discuss my recent bone density scan.

When we get back from lunch I will make OH’s favourite cake - Barmbrack.

Later, it is WI where we will looking at different crafts. OH will be happy at home watching Champions League football.

To top it all, I have a new online V&A course starting on the Renaissance. I had originally booked it onsite in London, but realised that Wednesday is a busy day so changed it to online. This means I can catch up on the lectures when I have a moment.

Good morning it’s piddling down here in south Glos, the water is running down the road 😵‍💫
Yesterday was quiet, I achieved little after a bad night. I went to the meeting about the play area here on the estate, only 4 of us. It makes me frustrated because there should have been at least a dozen people there and the excuses were quite frankly pathetic.
The majority of people on the estate have small children and complain about the lack of play provision.
Anyway, I need to look at funding options and pull together a sort of action plan so there’s a structure that we can work with.
It’s years since I’ve done anything like this so it will be a steep learning curve!
I do hope it stops raining soon, it’s getting boring…..
