In the 70s the fashion was very much for platform boots. I had some fabulous knee high boots with huge platforms and heels which I wore with mini skirts.
I had an opticians appointment so popped out of work. Once there I had to go downstairs for eye test. I somehow caught my heels on a step and fell from top to bottom. Tried to get up at bottom and struggled. Then realised both my feet were pointing upwards as both heels had sheared off completely. I pulled the boots off, took the eye test and rang work to borrow some shoes from a colleague. Trouble is I was a 5 and she was a 7! The staff in the opticians must have had a good laugh that day but I never forgot that.
