Good Morning Thursday 23rd July 2026
What was the name of the corner shop you went to as a child?
I truly believe Harry is again using his family and the media, I thought his behaviour during his visit was embarrassing
Meanwhile what about poor Thomas Markle? No hint of a reconciliation there.
What a cold hearted, vindictive woman Harry’s wife is.
I am now wondering if there was an ulterior motive behind Harry’s visit.
A financial one perhaps?
He has repeatedly complained about his father cutting off his allowance at some point after he left the country, and we all know how he feels about not being entitled now to police protection here.
I can imagine a conversation where H is showing his father pictures of his children and saying how much he would love his papa to see them but he fears for their safety.
Emotional blackmail is by no means beyond Harry.
It is right and proper that Charles and Harry, as father and son, attempt a reconciliation, and I hope it succeeds.
What I do not want, and I have every right to an opinion as the monarchy belongs to Britain, is to see Harry returning to any form of public life. He has said and done too many unpleasant things about his family and his country to warrant any respect. His recent appearances smack of the influence of a PR team, and an American one at that, and I hope we have the sense not to be fooled by his public, self-promoting yet very cheap gestures.
I’m the same age as Charles and after the trouble Harry had put the family through, moreover, doing it for money makes it even worse. I would have been telling him that he was getting no inheritance at all.
All families have their differences, we get round them in different ways, if H&M couldnt get on with the rest they could have retired to a family estate and lived a private life - they chose not to
They chose to sell the scurrilous tales humiliating the whole family knowing the family could not refute them and to me that would be unforgivable
Well, even I don't trust Harry one inch and he hasn't done anything to upset me. I'm sure the family members he's criticised and betrayed will always feel very hurt and upset and wary around him. He even ridiculed William's hair loss but look who's losing his now. I think he has a nasty spiteful side to his character and I hope he doesn't let Charles down after this meeting because more stress and upset is the last thing a cancer patient needs.
Much fault with all the exposure is the media, constantly photographs of nieces and nephews of the king, the ‘royal experts” who know the thoughts of every royal family member,
And with Sarah Ferguson leaping around on Instagram and giving many, many tv interviews
There is too much exposure of the royal family now, many are
deeply unpleasant people like Andrew.
Naturally a father doesn't want estrangement from his children, once trust is broken however, especially in such a vindictive way and true feelings expressed to the world it can never be a proper relationship again and I doubt William would risk it. Harry knows that.
I so agree Aveline , I thought his entire visit was embarrassing, poor man really overdid things for the cameras,
and like his wife he is ‘a hugger’
Harry looked awful as he left the meeting. Did people see that photograph? He looked hot and bothered and tearful. Maybe Camilla had been present throughout? Don't know. His new PR team much in evidence. The high profile trip to Ukraine then that public donation of one million pounds to the highest profile TV charity in the country. Meanwhile, William and Catherine have quietly given £65 million to a range of smaller, practical charities. I doubt Harry's visit will cut much ice with his brother and his wife.
I hope they can reconcile too. Sometimes we have radically different perspectives within our families but family is family. Blood ties and all that. 🩸
To answer the original post, no I'm not especially bothered but I think it would be nice if Harry could reconcile with his birth family and I hope this is achievable. On a personal note if I was part of the RF I'm afraid I'd never trust him fully and would be very circumspect in my dealings with him and especially anything I voiced, which I think is incredibly sad. Trust once broken cannot be easily cobbled together again. A hard lesson for Harry to learn. I doubt William and Catherine will ever feel totally at ease with him again.
I just mentioned this post to DH and his immediate response was 'maybe she only has a downer on Christians and not any of the other faiths'. Hmmmmm......
Or Humanist for that matter!

^Couldn,t care less but am surprised at the unchristian attitude of so many ladies of mature years.^
I remember you saying posters were being unChristian previously, paddyann.
Why assume people are Christian? They might be of any faith or none 🤔
Why bring Christianity or lack of it into this?
I don't understand.
Yes it's a very strange and random assumption, especially as I thought paddyann was a very 'inclusive' poster. Why would any Muslim, Jew, atheist, Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist etc display Christian values?

Being at odds, temporarily I hope, with my Son , I hope Charles and his son have made their peace.
However I personally would not like his wife Meghan returning to Royal life and the trappings that go with it.
She should not be Her Royal Highness, it is a travesty to expect the British public to welcome her back and kowtow to her.
She has made her position clear, she did not want to conform, just to be very important.
Yes I am bothered, although that's not the wording I would choose. I've huge sympathy for the king who has had this Harry problem as well as his cancer illness. The king is human, and a parent. He must be deeply hurt and distressed.
I see Harry is now in Ukraine.
Extraordinary, isn’t it, that he claims to feel unsafe here, yet is perfectly happy going to a country currently at war with Russia.
I feel so sorry for Charles. He obviously loves his son despite Harry’s deeply hurtful behaviour, plus there is the lack of trust.
Anyway they have met. I just hope Harry has the sense not to divulge any part of their conversation to the media.
I've got my own family to worry about. The Royals can get on with their own problems.
Harry and Charles reconciliation will take time and with goodwill on both sides they can find a way move on.
I doubt William will do anything other than go through the motions in his dealings with Harry for the foreseeable - not because of how he was treated by Harry in his book but due to his rubbishing of Catherine. I suspect that’s the unforgivable thing for William.
Couldn,t care less but am surprised at the unchristian attitude of so many ladies of mature years.Given that NO ONE knows the truth except those concerned why are so many so involved
Honestly I think with what we know as facts from Uncle Dickie and his “thing” for young boys to Andrew who paid £12 Million to a woman he claims he never met .
A King who was an adulterer and worse a friend of Savile maybe Harry is the best of a very bad bunch !
I,m just happy they aren’t MY family !

Well, that was an opening, wasn't it! 😁
Are you bovvered?
Nah! Does this face look bovvered to you?😁

I think The King will want to reconcile with Harry, take the royal situation out of the equation and its simple parent and child dynamics, and estrangement, all too common, causes a lot of heartache for both parties. It does seem that Harry regrets being so indiscreet, he actually looked really happy to be here. I think William is going to be a harder nut to crack, Harry and his wife have both been very mean about Catherine. Meghan of course has form as far as estrangement is concerned with not only her family but friends having fallen foul of not meeting her expectations. So whilst Harry, may offer some mea culpas, I really don't think she will and I think that will result in an impasse as to moving forward and embracing the whole family. I think Harry will have to straddle two separate positions.
I think you’re right about the whole situation.
