Good Morning Friday 4th July 2025

Good morning from Bristol. The night was cool enough for there to be dew on the cars! Another dry day ahead.
DH died in the early hours three years ago. I hate being reminded but, of course, remember 😢 It was odd that Part’s “spiegl im spiegl” was playing at the time of his death, and just now.
Uncharacteristically, I was full of energy yesterday. I did some local shopping, made a fruit cake and some biscuits, two batches of orange and cranberry marmalade and half cooked lemon marmalade.
Today, I need to finish the marmalade, change and wash my bedding, then prepare for this pre-meeting meeting with the residents. It is disheartening that a lot of them don’t want to stir things but are heartily glad when others do and get things done.
I forgot to mention that one thing which stands out for me in Lithuania is the scent of lime tree blossom; lime trees lined all the streets and were is full bloom.
I hope all problems are smoothed out, mountains razed, happiness in full play, and life full of enjoyment for you all.

Good morning from Malta where it’s already hot and will reach 38°C later.

grandMattie sending a big hug to you on this sad anniversary. It’s always hard thinking back and remembering the happier times we hoped would last longer.💐

Despite feeling like the wrath of God, I walked up to the village to get the dog’s antibiotics yesterday.

The pharmacy didn’t have them but suggested something similar if I could call my vet and check with him. He didn’t answer as he has his clinic in the mornings.

The pharmacist asked the doctor (we have them in most pharmacies) who said he could prescribe something similar but suggested she check another pharmacy which imports drugs specifically for animals. Sure enough they had it in stock but it meant getting the car out which I didn’t feel up to.

To cut a long story short, I tried another pet shop who has a vet in attendance at times so was lucky to find the pills there.

I also stocked up on tuna as it’s all my dog would eat, but he’s even stopped wanting that now. I’m quite worried about him, poor boy.

I watched Wimbledon, didn’t really enjoy it much. Hope for better today with the lovely Alcaraz playing.

I will have to walk to the village again as I missed a parcel delivery so need to pick it up. It’s a black jacket which I hope will go with the dress I bought for the funeral of my BiL. I’m hoping it will look ok.

Still feeling rough, silly tickly cough kept me awake off and on all night, blocked nose, sore throat and headache. I know it’s trivial compared with what many of you are dealing with, but it is so annoying after just getting over a horrible cold.

Apologies for missing your anniversary Ginny, I do hope you had a lovely time celebrating.💐

Good luck with your meetings, grandMattie. I know exactly what you mean because it’s the same here. Residents in my apartment block moan but stand back to let me complain to the management company.

Yesterday we had a lovely day out in Teignmouth, exploring the alleyways (see photo) and shops, where I bought these brand new shades in a charity shop before enjoying lunch in Wetherspoons. On days like that, I give thanks for my improved health and mobility - the genicular nerve block is still working its magic on my arthritic knee after more than six weeks!

Good morning all. Rain predicted all day in Glasgow today.

I am looking forward to meeting two friends for lunch in town. A couple who have been dear friends for many years. We always met up for lunch a few times each year and will continue to do so, sadly without DH. As it’s going to be such a wet day I don’t want to have a long walk from the car park, I will book a taxi to save a drenching to and from the restaurant, Glaschu (Gaelic for Glasgow) in the centre of town.

Highlight of yesterday was long chat with my now oldest friend; we met on Day 1 at grammar school in 1953 and had a splendid catch up and reminisce. Very cheering. Today involves a trip to the optician to collect my new glasses and our singing group’s concert this evening, so a little rest this afternoon, I think. I am grateful for more comfortable temperatures which means I feel more energetic. Hope for a good day for everyone.

Thank you, grandMattie; in all honesty, I didn’t find the procedure too uncomfortable. The young man who performed it was very good at explaining what would happen, including drawing diagrams. He talked a great deal (about holidays, his home country, our shared interest in F1) all of which would have put me at ease.

I'm sorry you and your dog are so poorly, Bellasnana. Would it be possible to watch a livestream of the funeral rather than go through travelling when you’re unwell? Just a thought. 💐

Good morning, it’s a brightish start here in south Glos, I’m about to take tiddler out, bigger dog has her lovely dog walker at 9.
I slept badly, probably because I had a small glass of wine last night 🙄; I have no idea why it affects my sleep, this isn’t the first time.
Not a lot happened yesterday, I really enjoyed the afternoon at art group where I started another drawing.
Off to the other art group this morning, carrying on with a negative painting. My brain really struggles with this concept 😵‍💫, I hope it eventually gets it!

Good morning Mick and every one from a bright morning in Cheshire. Magnificent vapour trails criss-crossing across the sky. I looked it up once where the passengers were going. Many of them seemed to be to/from Amsterdam and various cities in the USA.

I sat on my glasses yesterday and the lens popped out and the frame is bent. So cross with myself. I shall have to take a taxi to the optician as I can't see well enough to travel any other way.
Yesterday my neighbour invited me to her lovely garden for a sort of afternoon tea to tell me she's going to be a granny again with grandchild number 6 and would I crochet her another baby shawl.

Just seen the pair of Mallards on her cabin roof. They looked like statues.

Excellent day with friends yesterday. Mr C’s foot was greatly helped by a long coffee break and an even longer lunch.

My plan is to shrink the forsythia some more this morning and call a friend who is facing end of life. May wander out this afternoon, see how we feel.

GM, same everywhere, people might go to an agm but sit there with eyes firmly down, in case they are asked to do anything. Time to chivvy them up, some straight talking from you and give them the link to the leasehold advisory service, which will help you. Form a small group of those that will help and consider taking over the management company. It is not difficult to do and will put the residents firmly in charge

My aches have gone so I am planning a cycle ride about 9 am, back before the wind gusts start. Busy day yesterday, garden plus I finished a caftan plus did a good re-catalogue of my fabric stash. I finished the caftan, my second toile after chucking the first, this viscose fabric is wonderful and I loved the dress as soon as I tried it on. Bargain again, cost me £9. Photo coming, the loose belt is optional

I did an hours sewing earlier today, finished a neckline, it is so much easier to sew when using a nice cotton. That pale green dashwood fabric, I cut a top to finish today and have bundled the cut dress into a storage box. I assemble a few `kits` of more complicated items, to make over winter, when I often cannot be bothered with cutting out

I had one last kit from last winter, galicia blouse from itch to stitch in a viscose crepe. I just took that out and will get that done this week, long sleeves

Organic delivery is due very soon and I will get going to make pot chicken after my ride, it will be for several meals and soup

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a sunny South Yorkshire. Looks as if it’s going to be another warm one. Had a very good morning out with the walking group yesterday. It was quite a fast, long walk and I find that the pace depends very much on the walk leader on the day - two of them don’t take any prisoners! I had lunch and a catch up with DD and then came home and, as the sun had gone off the drive, I cleaned my filthy car. It is now gleaming - for a little while at least!
Gym this morning and then a session at school this afternoon, to which I shall walk.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and cloudy. Rain is forecast. Ash Teignmouth looks interesting as do your new shades! GrandMattie I hope the pre meeting and the actual meeting go well. Bellasnana summer colds are rotten. Poor you.
Yesterday I nipped to town and visited Matalan which has a 50% sale on. The upshot was, I bought six new tee shirts, two pairs of cut off trousers and a pair of loose trousers for my holiday. I also met one of ds previous partners who was shopping with her mum. She has moved to Perth and it was just luck out paths coincided. I was very fond of her and really sad when they split. Afterwards I returned my library books. I'll borrow new ones when I come back from holiday. The rest of the day I did nothing. I did nap off and on because of a bad night but I feel thoroughly disgusted with myself. In the evening my neighbour handed in some potatoes from her allotment.
I had a much better night last night and I will tidy up from yesterday soon. Later I'm meeting a friend for breakfast at a local golf club which has an award winning restaurant. Afterwards we might have a wander around a garden centre nearby. Then home to get housework done. I have a notion to make bread. Have a good day all.

Good morning from an already sunny Cornwall, though not a scorcher, supposedly only 20° today, phew.

Yesterday I covered my allotment paths with wood chippings which the council dump in huge piles near our main gates, and discovered a free source of good soil elsewhere which my son will move for me on Sunday. A frog has found its way to my pond, yippee.

Today I'm dismantling last week's models at a library 10 miles away, ahead of tomorrow's Lego club, and after that will head for the north coast.

Here's what my grandson found in a rockpool last evening. It's unheard of to find a fish of that size so it obviously lost its way. By now it's hopefully swimming free again.

I am about to cook the 10yr olds breakfast, make his packed lunch and send him off to school for 8am.

Then time for a latte, and then it’s the gym, followed by a coffee and catch up with pals afterwards.

School pick up, shower and then we are going out to dinner with friends (local tapas restaurant)

Good morning from a still warm Wiltshire.

Today is sports day for DGD3. We will take a picnic lunch (well, a sandwich) to eat there afterwards with DD2 and SinL DGS2 had his intern day this week as he starts school in September. I hope he liked it.

After breaking a glass shelf from the freezer in the garage last week I realised a couple of days ago that I have a microscopic bit of glass in one of my fingers so I’ll try and ease it out later on. I’m also taking antibiotics for the first time in 16 years as I have an incredibly itchy uticaria style rash on my bum, side and lower back. This has occurred at the start of June in 2022, 2023 and again this year. The GP said that is likely to be hay fever manifesting itself but without any of the usual symptoms as she’d seen it before. I was most surprised as I’ve never suffered from hay fever.

Tomorrow is DD1’s birthday and she and her DH have tickets for Court 1 at Wimbledon. Unfortunately, the weather doesn’t look great. It was sad to see Jack Draper lose. That said, I did not enjoy the match as I found Marin Cilic’s serving style very annoying and it spoilt the flow of the match.

Good morning everyone from a lovely sunny mid Essex. I was at DD1s yesterday, keeping the dog company while DD and her DH were both in the office. One of the DGDs was at a friends after school, DD2 collected the 10 year old from after school club and delivered her to me late afternoon. The dog had a good walk with the dog walker. It was cool in their house, very pleasant. The 6 & 7 year olds have their sports morning today before it gets too hot.
A food delivery for me this morning but otherwise nothing much planned.

bellasnana I hope you feel better soon, it’s very uncomfortable being ill when it’s so hot. I hope your little dog responds well to his tablets.

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle where I believe it's due to get windy later. I hate wind.
Yesterday I did some minor cleaning then spent around 2 hours in the front garden, feeding the lawn, weeding and hacking back the neighbour's bushes which would cover my drive by now if I never did anything., they certainly don't.
In the afternoon I finished trawling through my paperwork, little has been chucked out sadly. I've also started a new book, an Amazon freebie but so far it's hardly gripping me.

Today I await the plumbers who are to replace a radiator and flush the system. I'm not sure how all that activity will disrupt my day. Hopefully I'll find a quiet corner to read my book or shut myself in my office to research some flights I need.

GrandmaBatty, I love having a rootle round Matalan. I've had some fantastic clothes from there over the years and when the kids were little I always kitted them out for the summer from there and a shop called Dunnes that used to be in Heywood but closed years ago.

I had a successful trip to the garden centre yesterday. I got the compost I went for and somehow a few plants 'fell' into my trolley too!

A day of housework ahead to leave me free over the weekend.

Morning from a sunny S Hants, gMattie FGT’s himself started chemo yesterday.
Yesterday was house cleaning, well downstairs anyway, hob, oven, units, floors and I’ve ordered a new extended duster thingy for ceiling cobwebs. The old one is falling to pieces and is now in the bin.
Today I’ve stretch class this morning, blood test this afternoon before Tesco delivery and pub tonight. As I thought Southern Water are making noises about water shortages, so the garden butts will be topped up from the hose.
Very south of Françe Ashcombe a bargain.
Bellas probably Covid, similar symptoms to me a couple of weeks ago, stay hydrated and rest.
