I love Durham especially the cathedral as I grew up in the area. We went there often.

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire. There’s a lot of cloud about and it looks quite windy.

MrB has been discharged by the cardio vascular team, which is good news. We enjoyed our usual walk down to the lock gates after lunch. He is out doing the weekly shop just now. Not sure what the weather will do today, hoping for another walk this afternoon.

As always, my thoughts are with those under the weather or dealing with sorrow in their lives. ♥️

Georgesgran last time I was up there I was talking to one of the guides who says he is often in the cathedral very late at night, on his own, and he definitely feels that he is not alone😱!

Good morning from a dull and rainy Black Country. Such a contrast from yesterday.

Six mile walk yesterday in lovely sunny weather. Didn't go to Line Dancing as my legs were aching! Managed to cut the lawn, then we had a BBQ in the evening.

Today I may pop to Merry Hill to see if there is anything I fancy buying for our holiday next week.

Marydoll my claim to fame is being locked (with DD1) in Durham Cathedral! We settled down to spend overnight in the freezing cloisters, but luckily were rescued hours later, when the cafe owner returned to check she’d turned off the oven! I bought my first mobile phone the following day!!

Good morning from windy South Lanarkshire. Home again and getting organised for my post school childminding duties.
I am so glad these weekly times with my two youngest grandchildren still continue but I read about your schedule Grandmabatty with a sense of disbelief that I used to be able to do that! Precious times to be relished.

I hope that things improve for your DGD Sar, she is having such a challenging time, what a brave girl she must be, I hope she gets the results she truly deserves.

Am exhausted and admiring reading Marydoll’s novella and wish I was as useful as she is. Wonderful Cleaner due shortly so a domestic morning and a reading afternoon I think as the predicted rain is with us for a while. The garden is certainly benefiting from it so that is good news.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 11°C, with rain predicted.
The garden is already sodden and the weeds are growing at an alarming rare. I cannot keep up.
However, it looks like a bumper year for apples.

Bella, there is nothing worse than having to childminding, when you feel awful.💐

Baubles, I have visited that cafe, stunning views across the Forth. 💚

I am so disappointed that DD is not coming today, our town is
gridlocked, due to the main road to Ayrshire being closed for resurfacing. It is supposed to open at 4pm daily, to allow cars access. Unfortunately, the workmen did not open the road yesterday and it was chaotic.
People in the villages, including DD cannot get out and for some insane reason, the roads dept. decided to resurface the main road in the town at the same time. Nothing was moving at all yesterday.

Her non visit means that I can get on with altering her dresses. One has proved to be very troublesome. I think it may be me, rather than the dress.

Instead of lingering at church yesterday and sorting even more donations, I came home. I could not find the energy.
Before I left, I did a couple of jobs, gossiped with the linen ladies and sacristan and went to lock the only door, which was unlocked. The rest of the doors had been locked by the others, on their way out.
I don't know what prompted me to go into the main body of the church, but there in the corner, were two elderly gentlemen, sitting and putting the world to rights. The sacristan hadn't seen and foŕ good reason. He wouldn't be expecting anyone in church, an hour after Mass finished.
I put on my bouncer hat and threw them out! 🤣
I told them they were very lucky, that I had checked. They found it highly amusing.
It also happened a few weeks ago, when another elderly man, decided to visit the Oratory, which had closed over Easter, which parishioners had been advised, was not to be visited,
The duty sacristan checked the church, but of course, he was unaware that this rebel was still in church. The gentle man in question managed to get into a toilet, climb up 😱 and call to the gardners for help. He did not have a phone
Unfortunately, they were wearing ear defenders!

Many of our long term parishioners think notices and advice do not apply to them. I should join the Vatican Diplomatic service, I'm so used averting chaos and anarchy.
One witty parishioner has named me, The Chief Cat Herder, I prefer to call myself the Parish Busybody. 😉
We now do a double check of the church, before leaving to allow for the Luddites. 😉

Roses, I too have heart failure, it does slow your own somewhat. 💐

I need a few things from M&S food hall and then back to tackle the dreaded dress.

Good morning. N. Bucks was wet and windy during the night and is still the same now. DH is off to play golf for three days in Cheshire so hope the weather improves.
I shall potter and get some overdue jobs done along with a couple of outings.
I’ll have DGS 3 for a couple of hours this afternoon and pick up his brother from school later. Their parents have a meeting re. youngest starting school in September.
DD2 is coming for dinner this evening. I expect this will happen a few times over the next couple of weeks whilst her new kitchen is being put in.

Morning, light rain has just started down south, it’s needed but interrupts MrJ’s plans for sorting out guttering on the shed.
Yesterday on the voluntary phone was steady, nine calls and the appropriate lifts sorted out, in between I bunged the vacuum round, cleaned the cloakroom, sorted out seedlings and watered the greenhouse. Quiz was good and we came third! Our Quizzer friend has his brother visiting from Australia, we’ve met them before when we lived in Françe, we had a great catch up and an open invite to visit.
Today I’ve admin to sort, not a lot else.

Good morning everyone from a rainy Northampton, glad I cut the grass on Sunday, and yesterday I cleaned the birdbath. Looks as though it will stop late morning, so should be able to get out on my walk after lunch.

Was all set to ring the pharmacy yesterday about my missing medication, but when I got back from yoga, it had been delivered, so panic over.

Sat out for most of the afternoon in lovely sunshine, and made good progress with my book.

A bit of pottering this morning then a walk this afternoon.

Good Morning from Durham. The sky is grey and there’s been overnight rain.
Just a bit of gardening and housework today, some food shopping, then I’m going to see DGS2 and bring DD2’s Little Dog here for his usual stay.

Good morning all , it’s sunny but cooler with a little rain forecast for later. Here in Essex we haven’t had much rain for such a long time, we really need it.

Dh wasn’t too good yesterday, I suppose we have to expect that. Two steps forward, one step back.
Today he has the chiropodist coming and also a visit from someone to see how he’s doing? The stroke people said it’s no one from their team! So it’s a bit if a mystery.

I hope to go to Bridge club this afternoon, if Dh is ok to leave for a couple of hours.
He drove round the block yesterday but is rather nervous , unusual for him. 🫣.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It said showers but heavy rain all night.
I'm supposed to be going on a cycle ride with a group of ex colleagues. I haven't been on my bike since well before my hip replacement so I am apprehensive. to say the least

Yesterday I went to ECA degree show. One of my previous helpers is graduating. It was a joy 😊 . Some of the work really professional. She has found a job and a studio in a disused office building. Since the pandemic there are lots of those.

Poor Bellasnanna I hope you get through your day and the boys are good.

We heard the cuckoo about a month ago near a reservoir in the Pentland Hills. I hope Mr Roses hears a Welsh one.

Good morning all. We had torrential rain last night but today has started sunny and calm, at the moment anyway.

I’ve had a few broken nights sleep lately but last night I slept for a full 7hrs. Not such good news yesterday as the results of my hip X-ray show arthritis in my left hip now too so both (L) hip and knee are arthritic but I think the sciatic has gone. 🤷‍♀️. An appointment with my GP next week will be interesting.
In a matter of minutes, the sun has gone, the wind has picked up and rain has returned, it could be an at home day today.

Good morning from rainy Shropshire.

We had another lovely day yesterday.Morning and lunch in Beaumaris then Pwllheli in the afternoon to have a look at Capel Salem which is being restored by Keith from The pottery programme.The back looked like a lot of progress has been made since the last programme.The chapel is big but not as big as we had imagined.

We wandered down to see the Spanish ship Pants but a huge queue meant we didn’t go aboard as it would have taken too much time out of our flying visit.

Today back to earth with a bump.Choosing new glasses this morning.We Will have lunch out then on to the care home to visit mum.Afterwards we will drive to mum’s house to check things are ok.A long day ahead.

Good morning from mid Essex, where it’s bright at the moment. Much needed rain is forecast and it’s windy here again.
Went for a walk yesterday morning and met up with some friends for a chat. I have dentist later this morning for a long appointment to prepare a tooth for a crown. Not looking forward to that, although I generally don’t mind going to the dentist.
I heard that my application to renew my blue badge had been unsuccessful, which is a nuisance. Both DDs want me to appeal against the decision but the criteria for getting a badge are so stringent that I doubt any appeal would be successful. I’ll leave it for a few months and apply again. i hope the rest of the week improves!

sar i hope S feels well enough to take her exams later this week.

Yesterday I changed my mind about going to the gym and stayed home pottering in the garden all day I really enjoyed it and got lots done. I’ll definitely have to go today though as I’m going for coffee with some pals afterwards.

Good morning from a bright W Kent. Yesterday’s U3A outing was interesting as we travelled to Nurstead near Cobham in Kent to visit a 14th century church in the most beautiful surroundings. A talk about its history from the vicars husband.
Today down to earth with a bang as I have the dentist for my annual check up.

Good morning from a soggy hillside in south Glos, it’s raining steadily here so a wet dog walk this morning. My lovely dog walker will take bigger dog out later.
Apparently DH is off to mid Wales today to ‘Look for a cuckoo’ 🤷🏼‍♀️. He reckons he’ll hear one somewhere around Rhayader, a 300+ mile round trip from here. I honestly do wonder where he gets these ideas from!
So, a peaceful day here, interspersed with dog walks and usual bits and bobs. I have taken a Thai curry out of the freezer and I look forward to enjoying it.
Yesterday we did a favourite walk then I cleaned and tidied the Shed before doing some drawing and more crocheting. I’m nearly halfway through the 36 squares for a small blanket- it’s a kit I was given yonks ago, 2 ply wool that you use doubled. Easy and relaxing.
All you busy GNers put me to shame; until i developed heart failure I was flat out so I don’t feel too guilty 😊 My DGCs are older and don’t need me now but I loved the time I spent with them, often frantically busy but I look back with nostalgia.

Good morning from a wet and windy NE, not the weather I expect in June.
Yesterday I did some laundry, all dried and ironed by late afternoon so I sat and finished my novel.
Today I will potter round, vacuum and dust as my sister and BIL are going to visit tomorrow.
Thoughts are with poorly people.

Good morning from s somerset, dull, cool and drizzling now and for a bit longer. Very breezy later

Pottering yesterday morning and time vanished, I drove to get the car washed and and then to my plot for a bit. I was waylaid by someone when I got back and ran out of time to get to my craft group. More gooseberries picked and prepped, I have one last lot, will wait a few days. Plenty on the ground for the birds and slugs and plenty of apples are falling, the natural june drop

Today, I do think it will be an indoor day as it feels quite chilly. I am pretty well keeping up to date with cleaning and tidying so some sewing will do me nicely

Morning all from a wet West Oxfordshire. Our gardener is due today but if it’s too wet she probably will cancel.

OH has a U3A meeting this morning. I am meeting friends this afternoon.

This evening we have the first session of a 4-week pottery class we have signed up for. We were inspired by the Pottery Throw down programme! I have done several pottery classes but never used a wheel. OH had never done pottery at all. It should be fun and I think we will make three items a week, each.
