Size of Easter eggs this year

I loved Easter eggs.
My local newsagent and sweet shop had the most exotic ones.
Very expensive (to me).
I always saved up to buy one for my parents. I went in early and he kindly saved the one I wanted and I paid it off week by week.

They had lace and netting and papier maché type birds on. And velvet or silk flowers.

I remember the eggciting packaging. My brother had a space rocket. You pulled a drawer out and found a chocolate egg inside. I had a house with an egg behind each door and window. My younger brother had a train with an egg in each compartment. All made of card but hours of play value once the eggs were eaten. I still have the Avon pocket with egg shaped soap I received from my Godfather when I was 5. It sits in my sock drawer, soap never to be used. Only a vague scent now

It's because all the grandchildren have a rabbit and a book token. I like them to match their favourite chocolate.

I would also opt for a cream egg.

I love Lydll chocolate.

Chocolate products have been shrinking in size and weight for nearly 50 years now.

How soon will chocolate manufacturers introduce new 'extra large' bars of chocolates/Easter eggs, that will merely way as much as they used to weigh some years ago.

I am not a chocolate lover and like it less and less, aided by the fact i feel cheated whenever I buy any because the product is so much smaller than I remember.

I picked up an Easter egg in M & S yesterday and it was so light I thought it was an empty box!

According to Which, there is a ,lot of 'shrinkflation' of Easter eggs this year

When I did my last piece of research into ‘EASTER EGGS DON’T SAY EASTER ON THEM NO MORE,’ someone accused me of ‘cherry picking’ just six eggs to prove a point, and so I expanded my testing today in Lidl and checked all 54 visible chocolate egg products individually for mentions of ‘Easter’ on the packaging. It was mentioned on a whopping 53 of them, which is an Easter Inclusivity Rate (EIR) of 98.1%.

As usual, I ordered my Easter Eggs online from a shop in Texas (I live in California) who import all things British. Yes, they are horribly expensive, but it’s such a treat for my American grandchildren. There is nothing like it in the US.

I agree about Thorntons too. Lindt is my favourite

@Nanny27, I have always felt the same about Thornton's chocolate, although many people obviously enjoy it. Horses for courses.

From posts above I think it must be just me but I really dislike the taste of chocolate from M&S. It always seems overly sweet and lacking in a real 'chocolaty' flavour.
I'll duck down behind the sofa as I'm guessing I'm in the minority but would be interested to know what other grans think.

I think there are far fewer Easter eggs around these days, regardless of size.

I suspect that as Easter is very much a religious festival and most people are not, that the significance of eggs over any other chocolate has been lost. Now it is all bunnies, chickens, tiny eggs and boxes of chocs - and even then far fewer of them.

There are complaints on the Ocado site about the size of some of the M&S eggs this year. I've bought the same ones as last year and they're not huge but definitely bigger than some of the new ones. I'm buying boxes of M&S chocolates for adults this year, they do a couple of nice selections.

I have to admit, you really do have nice Easter eggs available! It's not such a thing here. I had a look on the M&S UK site, and am delighted by all the selections!

Here they tend to do more candy for egg-hunts which are quite common. The kids get a small basket, and hunt for eggs and small treats which the Easter Bunny has hidden around the garden. The tradition has changed from when we were kids; we would get one decorated egg or chocolate bunny and look forward to a hot cross bun after church.

Oh for a lovely Thorntons bunny or chick or just one with my name on it.
