A very early visit today....and first of all a Thank you for the love I felt from you after my post on Monday. I don't think I'm alone in feeling that I can share things in this kitchen that I don't put into words elsewhere knowing that there is no judgement or rancour. A true blessing. ♥️

The domestic goddess should put in a brief appearance today as DHs best friend is arriving tonight and staying until Monday. She appeared very very fleetingly yesterday and flicked a duster around the sitting room. In passing she commented that the skirting boards by the french doors are supposed to be white ( all 3 children come charging in from the garden and stand on the mat and shake.... hence the slightly ((very)) off white appearance).
I am not feeling the Domestic vibe at the moment. For some reason the hamstring pain came back with a vengeance yesterday. I must have looked demented whilst in the supermarket as the pain was so intense I thought I was going to burst into tears at one point. Because the site of the pain is right at the top of my legs underneath my btm I find myself clutching my nether regions instinctively.....as you can imagine this is not the kind of look that goes down too well whilst trying to choose a joint of beef. !!!!!!!
I came home and took drugs and waited until they took the edge off before allowing domestic goddess to make a brief foray into the cottage. Today she will be allowed back to make a fish pie for tomorrow ( Good Friday so no meat). ....and that's if no one prods or pokes me too much at the 2 hour pre op assessment this morning.
Jax....brilliant news re scan...adhesions are a buggeration though at times.
Redcar... It's lovely to read that you are progressing so well...and the Ddog is in very good hands whilst his folks are out.

GrandmaB... Time to take some time out I think and recharge after all you've been through. Your brother will have to fit in around you. My Mum always used to say that those that have gone before us can do far more for us in heaven than they could on earth and when I read about your son coming back into your life that was my first thought. Out of sadness comes happiness.

Granmarie... Your DH I'm certain sure was proud of you in life and still is now as you move forward into this next phase. May you continue to be surrounded by love.

I've got to go and find big knickers.... I'm not being caught out again... Last time I didn't think I'd have to strip off and wore a very pretty set that consisted of a a lacy bra and thong. Oops

It’s all quiet here after a howling 50mph wind in the early hours of Wednesday which kept going until lunch time. Daft though it might sound I was upset to look out and see two big stems had snapped from a mature climbing rose and the pergola supporting that and another had pulled out at the base. There are worse things I know but I am very fond of those roses, growing up there was always a rose garden and for me it’s not a garden without roses. Fortunately it was the day for our development gardeners, between us we worked out how to keep the pergola upright, I cut off the snapped pieces of rose and we sallied forth to buy wood and unreasonably long screws. , Mr C will work some magic on the pergola. I was going to say tomorrow but of course it’s today. 🤞 it all works and the rose doesn’t mind it’s unplanned pretty severe haircut.

Good news from your scan jax, so much better to know outcomes on the day. You’re doing well with your Mum’s house sued. Not an easy task. There were similar mutterings about rain here this morning, never satisfied are we? Hope that injection helps yia and you’re more comfortable soon, you too redcar.

We have just come in from garden club and I won first prize in the raffle! It was a talk on container gardening and the speaker donated her demonstration pots. A good evening!

Good news re the US scan, Jax.

Very wet here which meant we traipsed around town in the rain with GD this afternoon. Was it only on Saturday that I was complaining that the garden was so dry?? I’ve had to get my ‘big jaiket’ out again, too. I took Easter gifts for dd1 and family when we took GD home. They’re off to friends for the weekend but will be home on Sunday at some point.

We spoke to a friend this evening for the first time in years. It was lovely catching up, though he’d scarcely changed apart from having grey hair now. He’s planning to visit Scotland in the summer so we hope he’ll be able to pop in and see us.

Ds2 is in Morocco. He had a work trip there but it was cancelled. He decided he’d go anyway and enjoy exploring a new country! It sounds lovely, he’s really enjoying it even though he only arrived this afternoon.

We’re just trying to get on with life. I’m making progress on my mum’s house. I’ve removed items to keep so house clearance people can now go in and also cleaners to do a ‘pre-marketing clean’ prior to selling it.

Evening Kitcheners it’s been sunny but chilly here today.Easter eggs delivered to the GC except GS1,he’s not eating chocolate so instead had a jar of manuka honey.🤣
So tomorrow we will be going to DS2 in Derbyshire for Easter will be good to see them.
I had my injection yesterday but not doing the 5K run just yet!.My rheumatologist said my inflammation markers are high so,hopefully the injection will help.
Pleased it went ok yesterday Grandmabatty and so good that you had your son with you.

It’s Baltic here (but I still dragged Himself over the road to the pub at 5pm). I’ve had L’il Miss here all afternoon. She’s an absolute joy to be with, such a happy soul (and so pretty - that hair!) a lady in Gregg’s commented on it today down in the square. She blushed but smiled - so shy.

We’ve just eaten a Bigham’s meal. Delicious. 😁

Hello everyone. A really windy day today, but dry and sunny, and not especially warm.
Saw the physiotherapist at my doctors surgery this morning, I walked there using my walking sticks, but found it hard going after using the rollator for three days. She gave me some exercises to do for my uncomfortable ankle, also showed me a variation of a back exercise I used to do. She advised against getting on my knees yet, but I can do this exercise leaning against the kitchen worktop. So I did some this afternoon! Now sitting with a hot wheat bag on my back and have had some painkillers!
Had DD1’s dog for company this afternoon while they went shopping. I’m keeping the dog company again tomorrow morning while they take the children to London for the day.
Hairdresser in the afternoon, so a relaxing afternoon.

Today was a very lazy day. I have pottered about, did three washes but dried indoors as it has rained most of the day. I sent mum's death certificate electronically to her bank and the Office of Public Guardian. Two more things done. My aunt and uncle phoned in the afternoon and we had a nice chat. I made gammon in honey, mash, cauliflower cheese and tenderstem broccoli for dinner. So all is good, except there is a beeping in the kitchen. It's the carbon monoxide alarm and it means I need the battery changed. I can't complain because I haven't had to change it in nearly seven years. But it is very annoying! Dsil will sort it for me as my eyes aren't great at the moment. Brook I need to clear out stuff too but haven't got enough oomph. The dishwasher needs loaded so I shall do that after I've watched The Residence on Netflix. It's very funny

A blustery day, smattering of hail this morning, sun/cloud the rest of the day.
I went for an ultrasound sound, after lunch, suspected hernia, relieved to be told it is scarring/adhesion from an appendectomy many years ago.
My daughter and grandchildren were in London for the day, touring the sights, all very tired tonight, 23,000 steps.
Thinking of gBatty today, I hope you slept reasonably well.

Hi kitchen pals, it’s been a really cold day here today, hardly any sunshine, light showers and a cold wind
Sounds like a good day llfl, a nice lunch out and then ordering chocolates. One of my stepsons is also in Italy over Easter, they’re near the Italian lakes and I think it’s very wet there too
We wrapped up warm and went for a walk this morning, half way along we sat outside at a riverside cafe and had a warming cappuccino. Then back to the car, a trip to Tesco and then home. This afternoon I’ve been listing things on eBay or Vinted, it’s mostly things the DGC have outgrown or don’t play with any more. I might have to do a car boot sale in the summer if things don’t sell as we’ve got loads of stuff accumulating in boxes in the garage 🤷‍♀️

It was the U3A lunch today. The food was lovely. My fillet steak was perfectly pink and very tasty. There weren’t so many of us as usual today. I imagine the Easter holidays was the cause.

It is the WI tonight. The speaker will give us hints on how to avoid being scammed. For the first time in 8 years I won’t be sitting on the Officer’s table, will I miss it? No,

Elder son and his family are in Italy for Easter - I’m not sure the weather is very good. It is my son’s partner birthday tomorrow. We think it’s her 50th but she will never say!

I have just been ordering last minute chocolates for Easter. There will only be OH, me and our daughter. Younger son is busy elsewhere. You can’t have too much chocolate…

Grandmabatty, so glad everything went well, and your DS was there. It sounds like your Mum and Dad are resting in a beautiful spot, that's a comfort. 'Together again', that's the toast we had at our Mum's funeral when she was buried beside my Dad and my brother. Very reassuring.

Have had a very busy day with the younger and youngest generations to lunch which went very well, and then WI tonight. Think I might sleep well after such an interesting time.

I am so delighted for you Grandmabatty that things are back on track for you with your son.
I am no stranger to mental health issues with a son, my own has been back at work for 4 weeks now after nearly 8 months at home, some days not coming out of his room and not talking to me for days on end.
I don’t speak much about it but it is a constant, ever present worry.

Happy for you the funeral is over and went well.
Just the paperwork to do now which hopefully will be trouble free and speedy.

We have had a day in Portsmouth today including a boat trip round the harbour and hearing the history and seeing several of the Royal Navy’s ships on their fitting out etc.

I am very tired but relaxed in bed now, lunch in an Italian restaurant and just a sandwich back at my D’s which is all I wanted.

My usual good thoughts to all with sadness and worries.

We’re both tired after having the DGC here most of the day, there was quite a bit of sibling rivalry and bickering going on which is so wearing but we coped ok. I had my own nail salon open here fgt as DGD asked for her toe nails and finger nails to be painted an interesting shade of blue … Then she asked for her long hair to be put into a fishtail braid - I didn’t have a clue what it was so had to look it up on Utube , we sort of got there in the end!

I had my mani/pedi this afternoon. Lovely ‘French’ manicure looks neat and classic. Drinks with our friendly neighbours, came home an hour ago, pj’s on and pizza eaten.

grandmabatty I’m so pleased for you that the funeral passed uneventfully and that your ds felt able to attend both funeral and the afternoon tea and that he is going to have Easter Sunday lunch with you.
I hope that dealing with your mum’s will won’t cause you too many problems.

Thank you all. I'm in my jammies as I'm tired. Things went well today. My ds turned up and was ok. He supported me to the graveside (I have dodgy feet). He did get a bit upset but that's natural. Dad's ashes were buried with mum so they are together again. The grave is underneath a lovely tree and the birds were singing away. Despite a nasty forecast, it stayed dry. We went to a local hotel and ds came to the hotel and bought us all a drink to toast mum. That's quite a Scottish tradition. We had afternoon tea as mum loved an afternoon tea. My uncle had said he would pay for it and got up and left the room. On his return I said thank you. He hadn't a clue what I was talking about and had clearly forgotten! Fortunately my Dsil quietly got up and paid. I think the stroke my uncle had last year has affected him more than it shows. Anyway, that's the funeral over. I just have mum's will to deal with now. And my brother who is so incompetent it isn't true. I appreciate all your kind messages and lovely words on this thread. Thank you again.
Ds is coming for Easter Sunday lunch too. I'm very thankful.

I too have been thinking of you grandmabatty you’ll be tired tonight, I'm hoping this afternoon passed gently.

We went to Aldi to fill our small freezer, it reminded me how I don’t like shopping! MrJ does and kept veering off towards the middle aisles, but came back empty handed, phew.
We’ve had a small shower of rain, the odd shaft of sun and mostly grey skies, we were spoilt last week.
