They certainly like to do things BIG in the USA.. very military occasions but without the glorious uniforms and horses and carriages that we would have in the UK

Part of the eulogy was a direct attack on the 'abuse of power'.

Obama and Trump chuckling away (before the service began) was a classic. Mike Pence’s prune faced wife refused to shake Trump’s hand although her husband did. Kamala Harris turned round, saw Obama laughing with Trump and was MOST put out. Her face was an absolute picture. Laura Bush did best, serene and courteous.

I was more fascinated by the honour guard, carrying the coffin, up and down all those steps!

Yes, I agree. I didn't watch any reports for this reason. It's all speculation and in the end it was a funeral and shouldn't be seen as anything other. My thoughts are with and for the family.

It all looked very amiable, and not ‘put on’.

I think on the whole all politicians are actors.
Only the public isn't in on the joke.
So when the mask drops they behave normally towards each other.
We should all be more self aware and resist the need to join a group which in the end 'others' some, creating an emotional button politicians can press whenever they need to.

They are all people and may have different political ideals but that doesn't mean they can't be courteous with each other or even chat about other things sometimes.

I suppose when someone reaches 100 years old the funeral, in this case, was a reflection of a life well-lived.

I could never imagine Jacob Rees-Mogg ignoring someone deliberately to be rude to them Allira.

But if you had watched the Carter funeral you would have seen it over and over from the women.
I don't exactly know why as they seemed to take umbrage at each other?

I would have thought it bad form if they had the same reaction to P Trump and M (which they did), but I could have understood.

It all looked so petty.
