I often wonder what the children of the double-barrelled do when they marry. If Arabella Ponsonby marries Jonty Smythe and the children become Wayne and Chardonnay Ponsonby-Smythe, then Chardonnay marries Greg Higginbottom-Jones, do they and their children become the Higginbottom-Jones-Ponsonby-Smythes? Their Christmas cards would take forever to address.
My nephew and his family are similar, come to think of it. They aren't married, but their children are registered as Mum'sname-Dad'sname, and all have three given names, as the tradition in the mum's family is to take her mother's name as a middle name. So the children are Givenname, Middlename, Granny'smaidenname, Mum'sname Dad'sname.
