Good Morning Tuesday 11th June 2024

Good mornin* from a sunny Bristol. It will Goni soon and we shave an overcast day. At least, the vicious northerly will calm.

I finished my quilt yesterday, and it was claimed by my neighbour. I was delighted as I had made it for the sake of doing something.

I have a very busy day.p today. A friend and I are organising a little evening of wine and snacks at church. I thought it would be nice to have something for all the singles, to meet and chat to others in the same situation, and, perhaps, find someone they could do things with - meals out, theatre, exhibitions…. It is the first and we are putting out feelers. So I’m busy preparing canapés and stuff for it.

I shall also start on a new “lap quilt” for the demented husband of my late neighbour, with fabrics she used to use. It will perhaps bring back memories.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° with hazy blue skies. Mick I love a good saving!
Yesterday was a good day with the boys. No major issues with going to play group. He was very proud of his paintings he did. I have a full fridge of assorted art work from the boys. Dgs2 is struggling with constipation though and I think it's time for a doctor.
Today I woke unreasonably early! I've been out in the garden feeding the birds and had two coffees. I'm just about to have toast and tea. Dgs2 and I will be in the garden later I expect. Dgs1 meets his teacher today or tomorrow and is very excited about it. Dinner tonight will be spaghetti bolognaise, made with the sauce from yesterday's slow cooker job. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a bright and sunny Portsmouth. Early up and out for 8.00 ferry to Ouistreham.

We had a good journey down from Staffordshire yesterday despite some confusion caused by lack of signage around the roundabout from which we joined the M42. I’m pleased to have driven the whole way, rejoicing in the fact that it’s permitted since my most recent field of vision test!

I hope your grandsons are better now and you stay well, Bellasnana.

Good morning . Today , in north yorkshire it is sunny and windy but there is a bit of grey cloud building up. So having a coffee and trying to get my back to ease up ,so that I can go out and get the washing on the line. I am going away at very short notice tomorrow, so it has been a rush to wash stuff that I need to pack. Then I need to get down to the chemist to get a prescription and fingers crossed that they have the things I need, as recently they have been having some difficulty getting certain things. I am usually very organised and order them in good time and allow for bank holidays but I am down to the last week of the month. I hate packing, trying to guess what I need to take, when the weather is so varied at the moment. Here for one day you need your sunglasses , T shirt, woollen jumper and a mac to just go into town and use them all in an hour! I do enjoy reading all the posts and hope everyone has a good day today.

Organic delivery in 2 hours and I need to get the fridge sorted and wiped before then. Gooseberries are all picked and frozen and I very lightly pruned the new growth on the three standards. The branches bounce back up as soon as the heavy weight of fruit is off. Main pruning happens in winter

The two new kilmarnock willows arrived, very good deal on them, 3` tall and only £8 each. I will put them into their new large permanent patio pots today. I need to clean my sewing room and want to go on a fast walk too

Good morning from my patio in Cornwall, under a clear blue sky and the watchful eyes of my resident pair of gulls from whom I'm hiding my breakfast snack. That's the missus on the right.

Today two of my prayer group friends are coming round and after that I'll bus it to the coast. The town is buzzing with tourists. Yesterday I ventured through the throng with my crutches but quickly left; too many grumpy drivers passing much too closely for my comfort and we have no pavement edges in the town centre. 🤪 Looks picturesque though, of course. 😁

Good morning from Durham. It seems bright outside, which contradicts the forecast, but, it remains cool.
Financial Advisor arrived with his boss yesterday, so thankfully a far shorter visit than usual - that man can talk for England.
Builders claim they’ll be finished today, but then an electrician is coming to replace the security lights. It’s never ending.
I shall be confined to barracks again with Little Dog, who I’ll walk later.
Hopefully, after a right mix-up the Surgery will call with my blood test results.
Safe travels to those ‘getting away from it all’.

Thanks for your good wishes for the boys. They are a lot better today and so far nobody else has succumbed!

Today would have been my DH’s 79th birthday. He didn’t quite make it to his 70th, bless him.

Had a chat with DD1 this morning. She’s in the US and was showing me a little bird who has nested in her basil plants! There are five tiny eggs so it will be lovely to see baby birds hatching. The bird is a Carolina Wren, a very pretty little thing. They mate for life apparently.😍

It is Sing It Happy this morning and I have to make some cakes for our last Carer's course session. We always take 'treats' for this session as we make this one all about looking after yourself as well as the person you are caring for.

Good morning from a glorious but chilly South Downs.

At last I’ve finished the great garden clearance and can now settle to the normality of my summer routine.

I have a heavenly bamboo that I need to pot into a suitable pot for the little Japanese garden, which I hope will do ok in the chosen position, as it does really like full sun, and will only get that for about 6 hours. It is a pretty little thing though.

I need to sow some white foxgloves for next year to plant them with the cow parsley. Must get some seed. Also forgetmenots. The vet gave me a packet when Duncan died, but nothing came up so I will try again and plant them around stony Duncan along with the wild primroses and perhaps yellow tulips.

Shall visit the garden centre today to try to find something for a large pot which at the moment has a rhododendron in it, but it isn’t doing at all well so I think I’ll have to sacrifice it, watering is the main issue as during the summer and particularly late summer when it needs water to develop the flower buds I run out of stored rain water snd have to resort to tap water which in my part of the world of course is alkaline. It will have to have a Japanese theme though.

I must bore the socks off people who don’t like gardening😄😄

My neighbour was telling me that her husband had been filling in a fox hole at the bottom of their garden 😮😮, I so hope there were no foxes in it particularly cubs as they will suffocate! I delicately mentioned the cubs in the hope she took it on board.

Love the crafty stuff. I have stuff to make a quilt, but it sits there reminding me that I haven’t made a start yet. It looks wonderful in my imagination, but that probably is as far as it will go.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

What a beautiful quilt GM! I started making a quilt during the first lockdown but my thumbs are a bit arthritic now so it’s too painful. I made several when my children were small for their cots and prams. I think they’re in the loft.

I had a good afternoon yesterday at my friend’s for a craft afternoon. Half a dozen of us were working on different things - I brought along my stained glass thing which they wanted to see.

Our cleaning lady is coming this morning and our gardener too! Hopefully the gardener will be planting some more shrubs for us.

OH will visit his bees today for the first time in a few days - not since he took their honey. This evening he’ll go to his Shooting club while I pop round to see friends. One couple will be there who we haven’t seen since their son in law was killed in a dreadful accident.

Yesterday I emptied my bits out of the summerhouse, today we have to take it down ready for collection tomorrow. I had asked for the company to do it but there’s a 6 week wait and I really want it gone now.
We have a fish and chips van visiting our estate every Monday so I treated myself last evening, absolutely delicious 😋 DH was out so why not?! I will certainly be doing this again.
Dog and I enjoyed our walks yesterday but the wind was bitter.

Good morning from a cool & wet Sefton. Must have been raining overnight from the size of the puddles. Still raining. U3A this morning. May as well sort some kitchen cupboards this afternoon. I have no wish to venture out in the cold & wet. The garden will have to take care of itself.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton,.but showers forecast this afternoon, which is just as well as I am having my hair done this morning.

Spent yesterday morning at the shops and then continued with my book club read in the afternoon - we had several heavy showers, so getting out into the garden was impossible.
I made a big.chicken stew in the pressure cooker, had one portion last night, will have more of it tonight for dinner,.and have put a lunch-size portion in the freezer.

Trying a new hairdresser this morning; had got fed up with my last one not cutting and styling as I asked, although she could do a good colour.
Looks like I might be reading again this afternoon.

Coat and layers needed for short walk to the City centre and my charity shop volunteering day.
I'm having a hair trim on the way home. Glad I didn't book a blow dry as the weather would've made it a waste of money.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Dry at the moment in South Yorkshire. We had some very heavy showers yesterday. Apart from a couple of hours ironing, I did very little yesterday. I’m telling myself that a day of doing nothing much is beneficial now and then. This morning I’m going to clean the inside of my car. Volunteering this afternoon.

Good morning from a sunny (with clouds) and cold Oxfordshire, it’s only 9 degrees in the conservatory so it’s another cold, windy day.

We are off to the coast later this morning so I’ve packed woollies , scarf and hat, just like I did in the Winter! back home tomorrow evening though and it’s a hotel so not much to pack.

GM you are so generous with your time and your many skills, love the quilt.

Morning Mick, morning All from a sunny corner of Somerset. I’m ignoring the forecast which says rain later

Once the grocery delivery is put away we’ll return to sorting the havoc that is our side entrance. Some tidying and admin for me after lunch when Mr C will have a well deserved rest. Not asleep you understand, merely checking the inside of his eyelids.

A poignant day bellasnanna, love the sound of those little birds and their eggs. That quilt is beautiful grandmattie, there’s something very special about being gifted hand made items. Mr C treasures the lap quilt my cousin made for him from some very special fabric, he was so cold post cardiac surgery and loved the weight and warmth. We repotted a rhododendron yesterday whitewave more in hope than expectation of survival.

Best get a wriggle on or the groceries will be here before I’m dressed. Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.

I loathe the handsewn "English" method for patchwork Suffolk puffs, (tumbling blocks, etc.,) annnnnd only use the American, machine sewn squares. The onl hand sewing are the trips at the back to hide the (machined) seams and the edges.
