Not too sure about the 'with no exceptions' part. I am all for tolerance but wouldn't be loving my neighbour if they had committed crimes against children, for example. The milk of human kindness wouldn't stretch that far for me.

I totally love and adore my family and special friends.
I very much like some of my neighbours and work colleagues.
I tolerate many others on the fringes. But a few others I just can't stand!!

And I think that's all pretty normal!!

One of my neighbours was abusive to his wife. He didnt think like me at all.

Well, unless someone has done something to you, personally, then at least maybe try some empathy, if not love.

And forgiveness is supposed to be good for you, if you've been wronged.

On some threads where kindness seems thin in real life, even to their friends, I am mindful of the parable of the good Samaritan.

A man helps a stranger on a road, who has got beaten up.

Well I’m tolerating mine at the moment. Can’t see me loving him any time soon. Or his wife!
They look like us, probably vote like us, go to the same church,
No idea about their love life and they have one or two more wrinkles than us.
I can still only tolerate them.

I prefer Do as you would be done by. That for me covers most bases and is achievable.

I prefer the idea that we should treat others as we would wish to be treated ourselves. Tolerance, kindness and consideration come to mind. I'd also add generosity in the widest sense. Do I always live up to these ideals? No but I try.

I'm not a Christian but I do try to love and forgive which, as a human with human flaws, is all one can do. Unfortunately I've met many Christians in my long life who seem to be the least able to aspire to this philosophy.

The comments that come out of her mouth Re people on benefits are literally jaw dropping. Her meanness is on Olympic gold medal level.

I try to be fair minded and treat all my neighbours with the same contempt. 😄
