Crooners from the past favourites

I love Frank Sinatra's voice, Andy Williams, Johnny Matthis, Nat King Cole. Really dislike Bing Crosby singing - his voice is okay, it's just that he warbles so much. Never liked Dean Martin either, although I'm not sure why.

We saw the hologram Roy Irbison - it was very weird.

Robbie Williams is a modern day crooner. I have a CD of his singing all these types of songs. His Dad was a big Sinatra fan. He is really good.

There were so many great singers back then, crooners as they called them. I liked most of them, in particular Johnny Mathis. But over and above them all, no one could beat Frank Sinatra.

A work colleague once gave me a Nat King Cole LP, I was really embarrassed as I was married. He then said he'd bought it for a girl he danced but chickened out of giving it to her, didn't want to waste it so he thought I'd like it 😁

Al Bowlly. A blast from the past. He was a beautiful singer. So expressive.

Not strictly a crooner, but before they married, my Dad was working in Peter Jones in London, while Mum was in Durham.
Their favourite song was Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye, by Ella Fitzgerald, although they didn’t really like her jazz side.

Still one of my biggest regrets that I didn't go to see Sinatra when he played in Glasgow in 1994 I think it was. Just could not afford it at the time. Love Perry Comp too, always makes me think of my late mum when I hear him. He was her favourite.

Whilst my Dad was a Bing devotee, my Mum loved Al Bowlly who was very popular in the 1930's (her teenage years). She loved his rendition of "The Very Thought of You".

My parents had me rather late in life and even though my own teenage years were in the 1970's, I am familiar with music from decades earlier. I grew up listening to wonderful collection of 78's.

Richard Chamberlain - yes Dr Kildare himself. The first LP I ever saved up and bought was him singing. I've still got it too which surprises me as I played it so many times I thought the needle would be playing both sides!!!!

Can't see past Nat king Cole, myself. I love all his work but "Nature Boy" is all about DH:
