I have always known the Welsh word ‘cariad’ since I was a child and after doing ancestry research I discovered my great grandmother was from North Wales and my DNA is 17% Welsh. I had no idea about this. Another weird thing is when I visited the Lake District ( a helluva long way for us ) where my ancestors lived for centuries until the Industrial Rev , I felt really emotional and a real pull to some of those tiny little hamlets and churches. The past must have an influence on us, do others get this pull or have remnants of old customs/ languages today ?
