Good morning from a wet and windy West Sussex coast. Heavy rain is forecast for this evening.

Lots of people using the wet winter days to sort and declutter. I need to do the same. I had a good spell in January but have gone off the boil a bit since - my downfall is cuttings, articles, leaflets (don’t ask about the books). Some are waiting to be read, some have been carefully filed as I may want to read them again. I hardly ever do but…

My friend and neighbour who has terminal lung cancer has been very poorly with a chest infection. I am trying to help her arrange a care package but it seems remarkably difficult. She seems to have very little support from her medical team or the hospice. She has no close family, only good friends who, unfortunately don’t live locally. Someone from an agency is coming to do an assessment this afternoon, so I hope they will have carers available. It’s hard to have to adjust to strangers in your home when you are ill.

Hearing about your biker stitcher and the Ironman model cheered me up Ashcombe. My DD’s father-in-law joined a sewing class - he is interested in leatherwork - the ‘ladies’ were a bit disconcerted by him at first but seem to have got used to him. I love ‘quirky’ people 🙂

Hope those affected by snow or rain are safely indoors and stocked up with warming food.

We have quite heavy snow falling now after a sleety/rainy start, but it’s not settling here, fortunately, but around and about on the higher ground, it is settling.
I’m glad we decided to do the supermarket shop yesterday rather than today, so we do t have to go out in it.

Good morning from a dry, cold Co Durham, snow forecasted. Hope it stays away.
Feeling happier today, just organised a cleaner. She is starting two weeks today. Just two/three hours every three weeks.
Next week I’m heading to the north west to see my sister. 🤞 crossed the trains run ok.
Thinking of those with hospital appointments and those with troubles. I’ll go back and read todays offering now.

Back again feeling so fed up. I had a call from the hospital to say that they still have not received my blood test results that are needed before the infusion. I am to wait for a call from them to say whether I will be able to go or not. 🤞

Good morning Mick and all from a wet 2° northwest coast.
Very nice day yesterday even with the delicate stomach. Lunchtime recital good, then a couple of hours chat over coffee and a bite to eat with fellow performer from the music club. He’s such good company, very amusing. I had a fake plastic chocolate bar with me from the joke shop here (one of my favourite shops) and he was taken in😁 I’m fond of practical jokes and have a collection. Forgot about them through lockdown. Fake parking ticket etc…

In the evening to a show, songs from the musicals and very well done, although I’m not keen on some of the modern shows. The older musicals seem to me to have the best tunes.
Nice to see a couple of ex voice students in the cast, but too many cast members very overweight (ducks for cover).
The only blessing from my dicky tummy is I can’t overeat..

Returned from our jaunt around France on Thursday, still unpacking, washing, ironing, eating annd drinking all the accumulated goodies and dealing with paperwork which has built up under the letterbox.

Let’s hope those summer clothes aren’t away for too long Brook.
Glad folk are beginning to include you gMattie, now they’ll find out what an interesting life you’ve led and will be pleased they’ve included you at last.

Good morning from a grey NE, we had an overnight frost but it is 2 degrees now. Snow is forecast from mid morning, don't believe it will lie.
DS and GD1 arrived after work and college and we had an early dinner and then went shopping. The supermarket is very close and it was very quiet with manned tills open and no queues.
Quiet day today, think I might finish watching the Traitors.

Hairdressers today is top of the list with the usual social catch up to enjoy over coffee as L does his usual magic with my hair.
I went a bit OTT at Waitrose yesterday buying daffodils, tulips and 3 hyacinth plants. As I am indoors so much they will be a cheery sight and a beautiful fragrance around the house.

Good morning from Eden where the snow is just starting to flutter. The Pennies might be covered I can't see them so I suspect they are already getting it.
Lots to do today to get ready for half-term visitors and some planning to do as all activities were for outside and now it looks like they will be indoors.

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton, 6°C here and torrential rain. A day indoors methinks; no dance classes today so going tomorrow onstead.

Yesterday's coffee morning went very well, with lots of reminiscences of our recently departed late neighbour. Lovely coffee cake, courtesy of M&S...

Put some washing on after lunch, only to find that the machine refused to do the final spin; finally managed to open the door, remove the wet washing; then drained the machine, cleaned the pump, all to no avail. Then put the job on Checkatrade; had three repairers get in touch, contacted them, but the advice is to get a new machine, as this one is getting on for 20 years old, and not worth repairing.

So today will be spent researching and ordering a new machine; I am tempted to stick with the same brand, as this one has never gone wrong before in the 20 years I have had it. I will get them to uninstall and take away the old machine, and put the new one in for me.
So at the moment I have a clothes airer in the big walk-in shower with wet washing draped over it! Will transfer to tumble dryer when it's dry enough.

Better get my skates on as Sainsbury's will be here shortly.

A very busy week so far & feeling the effects. Why do things all come at once? Have woken up late after a disturbed night & am feeling a bit ‘meh’ as DS1 would say. I will listen to my body, abandon today’s plans & have a slow day.
The day & date foxed me for a while Mick & I began to doubt it was Thursday. Glad I found you all eventually.

Good morning from a very wet Oxfordshire, dog day today with an overnighter so soggy walks later on.

I’m back on my family tree again, due to my Computer problems I’m trying to get all of my research onto Ancestry so that if I lose it all at home it will be safe on their website for ever (🤞) this meant that I connected with a distant cousin who has been so helpful over the years. Turns out that he has had breast cancer, very rare apparently (450 men per year) but he had a breast removed and is fine now.
Just shows that men need to be aware as well as us.

Good morning Mick and all. Well, it's back to the hospital again this morning. I wasn't allowed my infusion yesterday, as the Calcium levels from the blood tests, had not been processed? The nurses checked and it had been requested, so off we go, in the rain. Hope there is a parking space.
The bathroom chap didn't appear, too busy and finishing late.
Fingers crossed for tonight 🤞.
So I had better get a wiggle on, as the appointment is fairly early.

Very dismal morning but the threatened heavy overnight rain seems not to have materialised, a relief to local residents as the river is very high and we have cars from further down the road parked in our bit of road. Nothing planned except a visit from the chiropodist so a reading day I think - nothing to go out for and no inducement given the weather. Not much sign of spring other than snowdrops and hellebores but another few weeks will see the garden transformed.

My last varifocals, with all the bells and whistles were from Asda, £212 for two pairs, that was 18 months ago.
I went to bingo last night, having been cajoled by a friend, I doubt I’ll go again, but it was an experience, I broke even and it made a change.
Nothing much on today, the weather looks yuk, so domesticity will reign, out for dinner tonight.

I was planning to be out with a friend today but she has cold so instead I will do some cleaning, ironing and sewing up my knitting. Then, snow permitting, I’ll pop to town.

Good morning all from the Angus coast. The sun is showing signs of rising with a rosy pink glow in a clear blue sky. A lovely day is forecast but it's a tad chilly at -3°. I feel so sorry for all of you with rain - but just think how much better your summers are compared with here.

Welcome home Brook. I would call that "hitting the ground running", getting back into routine so quickly!
A lovely time was had at lunch yesterday with Dancing GD, her friend and my niece. GD is finding her degree year 'stressful' but seems to be doing well nevertheless. When we parted company I went for new trainers. My old ones, after five years of constant use, we're becoming positively disreputable and there was not much shoe left between me and the ground! I always buy expensive ones (although not by Harvey Nick's standard!!) because they're worth it, last well and are so comfortable. They also look good! After that I gave my niece a lift home over the Bridge and then tootled back up home in time for Tipping Point.
Today is Tai chi again followed by a visit to the fish shop. That part of the street has roadworks for the next 13 (!) weeks so a good bit of walking is required - it'll break in the new trainers 😉
I hope the rain, snow and ice are not too bad down south and up in the north-west of Scotland, and let's hope this is the last for this winter. March gales next Have a good day all and stay safe and cosy x

Good morning from a very wet and cold East Midlands. Another day forward and I feel a lot better. We get our new front door and frame fitted today - typical when snow is forecast! I will be in the kitchen, in the warm and doing a bit of embroidery or reading. Have a lovely day everyone. Hugs to those feeling unwell or low on mood.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where there is a hard frost which looks very pretty.

I carried on with the book and games cull yesterday and our piano room now looks tidy and usable a. That’s a very grand name for a little room which houses the piano, book shelves and craft drawers. The yarn stash box has been relocated to the garage.

DH has set up a table in the spare bedroom for his model making which means he can leave the current project there instead of having to clear away constantly.

A productive day all round.

Today will be a quiet one. Just a couple of desserts to make to take to DS’s house tomorrow. His mother out law, who is staying for a while, is preparing a meal to celebrate Lunar New Year. They celebrate all the various holidays from their childrens’ heritage.

Karma, I got two new pairs of variofocals, with anti-glare and reactolite lenses from Specsaver's designer range for less than £600 just before Christmas.
I have noticed that the lenses seem to be of a superior quality from last year's. (I need a new prescription every year).
You are then entitled to a 20% discount on every subsequent pair.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -3°, very frosty with low clouds. The snow forecast yesterday didn't arrive but today looks more likely, worse luck.
Pittcity that's annoying when the experts can't agree. Kittylester I wish your DH well for his procedure.
Yesterday I visited my friend's partner for coffee and to see how he was doing. He's still going through her things from the loft and gave me some photos, one of which was a group photo when we were in a nativity play at six years old. We were both Wise Men. I'll take it to a catch up with other friends later this month. In the afternoon I visited mum. Yesterday she was chatty but not making a lot of sense.
Today is art class again. I have new tools to play with and I'll work on my snowdrop head. Then I'll take my friend home before heading home myself. Salmon salad for dinner. I'm finishing off what's in the fridge so there might be some odd combinations of things. Have a good day all
